  1. We've cruised the BI several times. The answer is formal nights are what you want them to be. Some dress ultra formal, some smart casual, some very relaxed. There will be tuxes & gowns, nice jeans, & everything in between. My DH wears slacks, collared polo shirt, a sport coat if it's chilly. I wear slacks & dressy top. We travel with carryon only so no room for formal wear. We've never, ever had a problem.

$15 per person per day, half of that if you're platinum/elite.

Thanks. Was it charged to my cc at time of purchase, meaning it will.be refunded, or was the charge to be added when we boarded? I can't remember how it's done.

  3. I had to cancel an Oct. cruise yesterday. I had added the wifi pkg a few months ago just before the price increased, but I can't remember if it was charged to our credit card at that time. Just wanting to know the total amount of refund to look for. Tia.

  4. We were waitlisted for an excursion in NYC a few yrs ago. I don't remember how long it took but we were notified we were on that excursion eventually. More recently our daughter & sil were waitlisted for an excursion to Stonehenge & Salisbury. I think 2 weeks or so later they were notified they are now on that excursion. Hope it works out for you. 😊

What if you were on excursion in Japan or Singapore or other country where tipping is not the custom, if not officially frowned upon, would you still follow Princess' recommendations?

I suggest you travel internationally. When you do, you see how crazy (your word) the American tipping thing is. It's a gratuity, not a service charge. Large, small or none, it's your choice.

This American totally agrees with you.

Yes that does help, thank you. I think it's quite difficult for some cruisers from a tipping culture to understand just how uncomfortable tipping is from those of us from a non-tipping culture. As far as I can see, having already paid the automatic gratuities, why would I pay someone extra for doing their job?

    Thanks again

PS - is your other half called Alistair???

This American agrees whole heartedly with you.

Not so sure that's correct.  Speaking of numbers We do a 14 day cruise with carry on. That's a $320.00 savings from what we used to do. Due to an accident we are raising 2 granddaughters. That's little more difficult as they are entering teen years but they do understand what $640.00 can do when the 4 of us cruise.

I do wear my sport coat when boarding, and the girls have to suffer with shipboard shampoos etc. and we do consider where the laundry room is when selecting a cabin... BUT I love getting home and not having wife staring at 8 suitcases of dirty laundry.

We also are carryon only travelers. We get free laundry now, but were carryon only travelers even when we had to do laundry. For us it makes traveling much easier.
