  1. Just booked a Mexican Riviera cruise on the Royal Princess, 02/15/2020.  Since we live in Arizona, we're planning on making the drive over to the pier in San Pedro and parking our car there while we're on the 7 day cruise.  The latest I've read indicates the parking fee is $18 per day.  Is that still current?  Also, any tips on getting to the pier that will make our travel and embarkation when we arrive smoother and more enjoyable would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Does anyone have previous experience with "The Western Caribbean Fly Fishing School" in Costa Maya, catchafish.net? Our family will be cruising and stop there in June 2017. My 13 year old grandson is an avid fisherman and is very interested in a fishing experience on our cruise. Any recommendations?

  3. Any suggestions for a deep sea fishing excursion while in Cozumel for the day. Intereted in individual pricing and availability not chartering the whole boat. Will be in Cozumel in June 2017.

  4. A family cruise vacation requires that we book a couple of quad cabins on the Norwegian Escape. Standard cabins regardless of category are a tight fit for four. We found some Family Oceanview cabins said to be about 200 sq ft with a separation between the main bed and births 3 & 4. Seems ideal but they are on deck five just below The Atrium and Guest Services Desk. I'm concerned about the noise level later at night. Any comments from anyone that has stayed in these cabins would be greatly appreciated.

  6. For budget reasons we need to book an inside quad cabin for two adults and two children on the Norwegian Escape. I know it's not ideal. How are the four beds configured? Is there enough storage for 4? Any suggestions on any specific cabin categories to choose or not choose? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  7. Thanks for the information.. Were the carts in good working order?

Yes, the carts were in as good a condition as well used golf carts can be. You have the option of refilling the gas tank to the level when you picked it up or paying an extra $10 when you return it. Unless you drive continuously, I would recommend paying the extra $10.

  8. We as well rented one of Nathan's Golf Carts on our port stop on Grand Turk on Friday, January 20th. There is not much I can add to the above post. My wife and I were able to share the cart with another couple, making $20 pp an extremely affordable excursion.

That being said, there really isn't much to see. Everyone takes the trip to the lighthouse, passing the NASA space capsule display along the way. Watch out for the cows, donkeys, and dogs close to and crossing the road.

We stopped at Jack's Shack for a promised free sample of local rum (very smooooth) and an enjoyable lunch. After lunch, we returned to Governor's Beach a short distance away.

The golf cart provided fun transportation, but the two stops we enjoyed the most, Jack's Shack and Governor's Beach were fairly close to the port and our ship. We could have walked to each. I'm not sure I would rent a cart again if we return to Grand Turk.

  9. Any comments regarding the Ramada Limted Downtown on Pender St? We're looking for an economical hotel for a one night precruise stay in October. Is it in a good neighborhood? Close to tourist attractions? We'll be arriving via the Amtrac from Seattle and leaving from Canada Place the next day.

Thanks for any info you can supply.

  10. In the past we have cruised with another couple. After booking one cruise, almost a year in advance, we wondered how to deal with the long anticipation. It was decided that each couple, on a monthly rotating basis, would host a cruise themed gathering on the day of the month the ship was to depart.

We had great fun after dinner one evening, ice carving in their garage. On another occasion, during dinner, a surprise announcement had us going to our designated areas to put on life jackets for a lifeboat drill. We've enjoyed napkin folding, and a "shore excursion" to an area casino to sharpen our gaming skills.

Whatever you do to pass the time before your ship sails, I hope you enjoy both the anticipation, the cruise itself, and then the anticipation of the next one.
