Count me in as one who loves it... I had a Chicken Tikka Masala on the Carnival Glory last year that was amonst the best I've ever had. To die for!!
If you don't like it, don't eat it :p
(then there's more for us!)
Amen to that!I never met a Chicken Tikka Masala I didn't like!

I love Indian food-it has everything to do with the spices. I had it for lunch today. I think some of the flavours are different-probably too spicy/different/whatever for people. That, to me, is perfectly understandable.
-
Indian vegetarian options, both on and off of cruise ships, are delicious!
-
I'll try pretty much anything once.If I don't like it,I won't eat it again.Simple as that! I've always been like that-I was the kid who was an adventurous eater, whilst my brothers were very picky.

Cretia, I feel the same way about Mexican food. It's plentiful where I live, and when we have people here from out of town, we've had Mexican food several days in a row. I don't get to eat Indian food very often, but when I do, it's a treat for me.
-
Mexican food is so standard for where I live....as is Chinese food(though I do like HAL's Chinese food) Indian food is different(too different for some people, but there you go). I tend not to do the ugly American thing when cruising...but I have an adventurous palate anyways!)

To each his/her own. *shrug*. I'll say it again: I don't understand the hate people have for Indian food. Repeating myself, but No one is forcing you to eat it.
-
Maybe it's too tempting to have the retreat/cabana area open at night...They're worried people who have rented them for the day/week might sleep there instead of in their cabin? :p
-
Pickled lime sounds really good, actually. It'd go well with the spices in Indian food.
-
*Twice* I've bought Indian sauces that you add to chicken or lamb-and they're VERY spicy-one person's mild is another person's "This is too spicy for me!"
-
The Oosterdam had a redo a year or so after I was on her; I'd like to cruise on her again to see what changes have been made.
I was on the Eurodam in March and loved it...would not mind cruising on the Niew Amsterdam at some point.
-
The Azure Seas! I went on a cruise on her around 1987 or so. I wasn't that impressed, and I remember having a VERY late sitting for dinner(8:00- This was pre As You Wish Dining, obviously!).
It'd be another 21 years before I sailed again(on the Oosterdam.)

When it comes to sticking to a certain food, I tend to go with non mystery meat items(though it must be said-if I eat hot dogs I only eat Hebrew National)-the steak on Holland America is especially good.
But for me, I love the Indian food. It's very high quality(the Indian food I've had on cruise ships is easily as good as anything I get at home, if not better! )
-
What's that expression about not living on bread alone? Just substiutute meat/pizza/chicken nuggets in there instead!
-
And the ethnic food is often you can get anywhere(Mexican,Italian, etc. )
Like I said, I don't understand the "ZOMG Indian food is teh EVIL!!!!" attitude of some here. To reiterate:No one.Is.making.you.eat.it.

I mentioned this on another thread, but there is a tendency for people to not like anything that's even remotely "foreign"- Ugly American syndrome. It's not xenophobia-it's just years and years of eating crappy food like hot dogs and hamburgers whilst cruising has conditioned people like that to not try anything new.
-
As a vegetarian, I'm grateful for Indian food. It's nice to not have to face plate after plate of pasta.
I think hot dogs, burgers, and carving stations are disgusting, so I just keep on walking and don't think about it.
There are so many other food options, why does the Indian food bug you so much? It's not like it's the only thing on offer.
Exactly. Nobody is forcing you to eat it. I find some of the comments about Indian food a bit:confused:
-
I've got adventurous taste buds, so am up for almost anything. And yeah, you can only eat so many hamburgers, hot dogs, etc.(though I have to say, I had a couple of really good hamburgers on the last cruise I went on. )
-
Mmmm, raita! They had really good naan bread on the Eurodam. What I liked about their raita was that it was more cucumber than yogurt. It was actually better than the raita I make at home!
-
They had Indian food in the Lido at lunchtime one of the days(they had a 'flavours of the world" section, which had a different type of food each day). It was delicious.
-
If it was a bisque, there would not be any "actual picecs of lobster". Bisques are pureed
Oops.:o Well, it's still up there on the top of my list(a very short list!) of things I've tried on cruises and hated.
-
That ravioli is gross looking. Don't like that they have cheese(?) all over it. Maybe I'm just a traditionalist, but for me, it's marinara and/or meat sauce on ravioli, or nothin'.
-
I LOVE Indian food! The spicier the better. If they had it on a cruise I was on,I'd order it!
-
Lobster bisque. WAY too much sherry(?) and cream for my liking. And no actual lobster to be found.Lobster stock, yes. But actual pieces of lobster?Well, no.
Just how bad is smoking on the Noordam
in Holland America Line

Cigarette smoke doesn't bother me;hasn't bothered me when I've been in the casinos on HAL ships..but recently I had a bad reaction(migraine)that I KNOW was from cigarette/cigar smoke. Why I reacted that time and not before I have no idea. But now I will be avoiding places where there is smoke(like the casino.)
