Great comments and tips that are much appreciated.  I'm going to hold off on pre-ordering it until we get on the ship.  They are all Pepsi products (we tend to lean more towards Coke) so I'll see how much of a protest I get from the boys about the free options then go from there.  Might make more sense to do buy as you go so that I can also regulate some of the extra sugar (and calories).

Thank you all for the notes - I'll be sure to use them if we opt for the package!

We got it for our two how drank a lot of pop at home, (boy 14, girl 8 and they did not drink enough to have justified it at all.  I should have just paid as they got them. Your son may be different, but that was our experience.

I thought when we booked our cruise, the $50 per for excursions was per stateroom per port. Now it states $50 for the first person in the stateroom.  Huge difference. Does anyone know if you can you swap the passenger names on the reservation around so the other person is first now? We have several couples going on a cruise and wives from a few of the cabins want to go on an excursion and use the credit, but the husbands names are listed first. Trying to figure this one out!

Best idea is to call NCL and ask.

<snip>    Also, I don't think the new pricing includes $50 off per person for excursions.   I did manage with my feeble brain to see that my original pricing would save me $200 on excursions that I would book--- so I guess I should quit while I'm ahead. Just curious if anyone figured out if today's flash sale would actually save someone money who booked with original Free at sea plus that included excurions, etc.

I booked yesterday and was told it was $50 per room, so one person gets $50 off.  We have four ports so $200 total off.

I wonder if they get different commissions for different cruises or what the reason was but since I enjoy shopping Carnival's website, I stopped returning her calls and she went away.

I asked my PVP (who I love) recently if they got commissions, because I was changing things around.  She said it's complicated, but they don't actually get commissions, but do get "points" towards free cruises, etc.  And if you cancel, my understanding is they don't lose the points.

  5. We are booked on the Carnival Fantasy Journeys cruise for Sept 2021.  The ports are Key West, Grand Turk, Amber Cove, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel.  We are only familiar with Grand Turk.  How are the other ports for mobility scooters?  Are the sidewalks good enough to travel on?  Or must we get excursions (scooter accessible) in order to see anything?

Yes on the Spirit Class ships [Pride, Spirit, Legend, Miracle] 4207 (fully accessible) does - 4202, 4203 and 4205 (ambulatory accessible) do not.

We were quite lucky, as we almost booked 4205, but ultimately decided on 4207.  It was quite handy as my husband would play poker until 1am and could let himself into the cabin by himself with his scooter.  We have it booked for another cruise as well. 🙂

I just really wanted to know everyone’s opinion. Likes and dislikes about Armonia. Things I shouldn’t miss. Things I should pass up. Maybe some insider tips. Happy hours? Favorite bartenders? Best deck chairs? Favorite specialty cocktails? Things like that.

Nobody’s opinion is right or wrong. I want to hear them all. That’s why I asked for opinions.

Also, just because I’ve always sailed on Carnival doesn’t mean I’m gonna come back and give a bad review. Things would have to be ridiculously bad for me to leave a bad review. And I know it’s not gonna be just like Carnival, they’re completely different cruise lines. I just threw that in because I was hoping for you guys compare and contrast. Example

On carnival: sail and sign card set up before sailing and is in the cabin mailbox upon boarding

On Armonia: I found out that u have to go to a kiosk to set it up. And I still don’t know where u actually get ur card.

    Stuff like that. Thanks!

Hi, following your thread.  We just booked the Armonia for August.  This will be our 7th cruise, all the previous ones on Carnival, so I understand where you are coming from.  Hopefully I will find an A to Z of the MSC experience.

When cruisecritic updated the forum software a few months ago, they changed the signature requirements which makes countdown clocks useless now. It was a very popular complaint on the HELP forums when they made the switch.

Ok, I've been off the board for a while.  Thanks.  I had to delete lines and then it worked.

  9. You can go to the casino, open an account with your s&s card.  Move money from your s&s to your casino account.  Play slots or something for a while.  Then go to the cashier and cash out your account.  It will not show as a cash advance, but as "entertainment".

  10. Whoops! My post got away before I finished it.

Are there walkways for a wheelchair to the beach area, etc, and also is there a bathroom in Cabin 1?

    TIA !

My understanding is there are walkways for wheelchairs. There are no bathrooms in the cabanas. See photos posted in this thread.

With Carnival, they say you have to go to the excursion desk as soon as you board to pick your cabana. However I contacted the special needs department and they reserved it for me.

  11. I feel the same way as you do. I have only cruised twice, both times on the Dream. I had FTTF first cruise and it was sold out for my second cruise so I was a little disappointed until I boarded and realized that I never needed FTTF and that was before it went up to $90. I will not purchase again.

I had not realized it went up to $90 as havn't been on CC for a while. At $50 when we first used it it was worth the money and we have gotten it for all our cruises. But $90 is a bit steep. I may have to rethink this for the next cruise. It's not available yet for ours in Dec '19.

  12. We have booked Cabana 1 with HAL directly next April. My friend uses a Wheelchair.

Will she have trouble disembarking at Half Moon Cay? We are getting mixed messages by TA and HAL.

    TIA Gloria

I can only give you our experience with Carnival.

We were told that the tenders used can carry wheelchairs and mobility scooters. The night before we were told no mobility scooters, so we rented a wheelchair. We sat in the Taj Majal for 3 hours while they tried to put down the anchor. When they finally did they said it was still too rough for wheelchairs. So they did tender people to HMC but no wheelchairs. It is really up to the weather and the captains discretion. So you won't know till you get there and they try and drop anchor. We too had Cabana #1 booked but got a full refund from Carnival.

    C) 50 Drink coupon for the entire cruise (or more or less, but you get the idea) for a $400 or so. Unused drinks are non-refundable. This would allow couples to "share drinks" while still offering a bulk purchase option.

While I doubt any of these would actually happen, these would be slightly more realistic of ideas.

They used to offer the drink coupons and that is what we would buy. We really liked that program. But then they discontinued it.
