  1. We just returned on the Majestic 08 December to the South Pacific.  We did everything right, tested negative before embarkation, tested negative 3 days after departure, washed hands, wore masks etc etc.

My husband came down with Covid 8 days into the cruise and I came down with it 2 days after this.  There was no advice on board as to the numbers infected.  We are both double vaxed and had both boosters.

Some passengers ignored the mandates re hand washing etc.  Masks were down around chins, 50% of noses were exposed and some just refused to wear them.

It was so disappointing, the first week of the cruise was brilliant but once isolation began, it was a most hideous experience.  Treated with disdain, ignored and quickly went from having the best time to being pariahs.

To all of those that think these mandates are useless, mask wearing a waste of time, and ignore the obvious signs of infection and carry on regardless, please think of your fellow passengers and there cruising experience.  Please stop this selfishness that prohibits many from enjoying their cruising experience.

  2. Thanks Geoff,  feeling a lot more relaxed about the whole thing now.  I let his damn technology stuff do my head in.

We managed to book our arrival time for 1200-1230 Group A and we do have elite status.  So hopefully all will be well as we have to check out of our hotel by 1000 and there is nothing worse than hanging around for too long.

Last time we travelled on Majestic we arrived at about 1230 or so and there wasn't a queue to be seen.  Just walked up and walked on and that was without technology.  Anyway, so looking forward to our cruise in December. love the Majestic and love cruising.

  3. Many thanks for your replies.  Have managed to have both now at 'blue' status and will take your advice and arrive with paper copies of the relevant documents.

My only fear is as mentioned last week by someone that had been though Sydney Terminal that if you didn't have 'green' you were being told to come back in three hours.  Elite or not didn't matter.

Oh well, will just have to 'roll' with it.

  4. What have I done !!! We were Blue lane and I 'think' that I have added our arrival times and also uploaded our Vaccination Certificates.

Our lane has now changed to Yellow !!!

Whenever I go to check in the wellness area it doesn't seem to appear that we have completed this and our uploaded the documents.

Let's not talk about the photos..we take these, save , tick the box but again when we go back to check they are not appearing.

    Advice and help badly needed

    Many thanks

  5. Just to clarify in my own mind, you take the test within 24 hours of boarding and attest, verbally confirm all is OK, at embarkation that this has been done.  We don't have to show any proof of this test and uploading a picture of this test is not required.

Am getting so confused as this will be our first cruise since all of the changes and Medallion.

Am trying to put off completing all the Medallion requirements,  will probably be asking a lot more questions in the near future!!

  6. Many thanks for your replies..yes I think the easiest way is to put some cash onto our account with Princess.  We have plenty of onboard credit and also the drinks package so can't see us spending too much, if any.

Presume the cash we put on will be refunded on the last day.

Perhaps we should look at getting a credit card with minimal yearly fees to use purely for travelling. We thought we were simplifying our life by getting rid our old one.

  7. We have just returned from Bali and the Hotel would not accept our Debit Card - we had to pay cash for all expenses ie food and drinks each time we made a purchase - not a problem.

This is our first time travelling without a credit card.

Are we going to have problems on Princess ?  Will we need to take some extra cash to put onto our onboard account as a guarantee?  If so, how much will Princess require?

Would appreciate your advices - Many thanks

  8. Some destinations eg Bali have a compulsory Travel Insurance policy as a requirement of entry.

Are any of the cruise lines insisting on this ??

Do we need to check each country/port  on the itinerary for this or are we being advised of this requirement by the cruise lines,

    Many thanks

  9. What I don't understand is that the cruise lines, we are Princess cruisers, have bought out their new programmes, which is great, and are taking new bookings hand over fist but there are not any guidelines re health and insurance requirements.

Surely by now our Government, like the Singapore Government, can start to look proactively at this situation and put some initiatives  in place.  Supposedly the vast majority of Australians will be vaccinated by later in the year so why isn't the Government and the cruise lines planning and advising???

How many people are going to 'caught' with having booked, used all of their FCC's etc., and not be able to meet the new rules of cruising.  I can't see the cruise lines being overly generous, which most have been, with cancellation fees and refunds.

This Industry is worth so much to our economy, both financially and with employment, but everything seems to be at a standstill ???

  10. Very concerned re what Insurance/Health requirements are going to be imposed by the cruise lines prior to embarkation.  To find cover that includes cruise travel and Covid is near on impossible and then throw in an over 80 with health issues.  Not game to book a cruise until all of this had been sorted.

Hopefully vaccination will suffice in lieu of covid insurance??  Who knows ??  Will just have to sit patiently and wait!!

I will be arriving into Singapore, Changi at 0630 early March for a cruise departing that day on the Sapphire Princess.  Of course the ship won't be sailing until 1600.

Can anyone please let me know what would be the earliest I would be able to drop my bag off.

Even dawdling it will not take long to clear the airport and a taxi ride to MBCCS will only take about 20 minutes.  I'm  concerned that if I turn up too early the port will be crazy with disembarking passengers with luggage everywhere.   At the same time I don't want to trip around dragging a suitcase.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks

  12. Good morning,

Re Princess Shore Excursions I believe now that if you prebook on your Personaliser you need to prepay which is OK.

Questions:  Are they refundable if you change your mind and secondly is it any cheaper doing this prior to the cruise than purchasing onboard.

I know that if you leave it until onboard you can miss out on our preferred time and perhaps tour.

    Thanks,

    Judy

  13. We were also on this cruise and thoroughly agree with comments made. We arrived at about 1.30 and have preferred boarding. Didn't need it, the terminal was virtually empty, just walked up, through and on. Never experienced an embarkation like it. Whatever they are doing, I hope they keep it up. Disembarkation was just as efficient.

The ship was great, yes quite large, but quite easy to navigate. Some complained about the size but we found the spots and bars that we liked and gravitated to them most days. We avoided the Piazza area as it was always so very busy and so very loud.

Service and staff very friendly and efficient. Ship exceptionally clean and well run. Captain was great, very informative and his midday updates were a delight.

We had anytime dining and arrived at the Concerto Restaurant most nights at about 7 - 7.15 and never had to wait for a table. I think before this it was for the early traditional sitting - could be wrong??

Food was a bit hit and miss. We had breakfast in the buffet each morning, lunch was from the Noodle Bar on deck, there should be one of these on every ship and dinner in the Dining Room. Room service once which was very good also.

Production shows were fantastic - best I have every seen.

Would go on Majestic again in a heartbeat.
