  1. Marketplace menu changes daily and is very extensive.  The smaller restaurant menus do not change but worse than that, there is currently a consistency problem.  First visit to Sakura we had the Wagu Beef Tataki and it was awesome!  Returning on the 2 leg we ordered it with great anticipation and it was inedible; literally.  It was fatty and grisley, definitely not Wagu Beef and smothered in a sauce presumedly trying to camoflage it. We both sent it back and had reports from others on the ship who did the same.  But the first visit, it was truly wonderful.  My guess is they ran out and tried unsuccessfully to punt.

  2. 2 guest laundries, 2 washers + 2 dryers in each.  No instruction and no explanation to the symbols on the buttons.  Dryers are ventless so there is a drawer that needs to be emptied that fills with the water being extracted.  Not user friendly for short passengers.

  3. Those of us who boarded in Copenhagen to UK had no shuttle offered in Hamburg and when asked "I don't know" was their only answer.  Brugge was worse as one was offered but did not exist.  Like Wheelhouse posted, there was not one staff member who had the right info, although they all thought they did.  Daily sheet says to check the timings on the schedule for the shuttle into town at the exit; there were no signs, no info, nothing about any shuttle.  Exit staff had no info and said to go to Reception.  I went to Reception who said "Check with the Exit staff" and so it went.  The only shuttle was a 2 minute bus ride to the port gate to join the queues of Aida passengers buying  bus tickets into Brugge with a schedule posted that showed the return was too late for Explora passengers, and a long line for taxis.

  4. As you know, no included tours and those offered are very expensive. Complementary shuttles into town did not materialize for Hamburg nor for Brugge, despite the many confused answers and directions by Reception.  A big let down.

  5. No instructions and very confusing, especially for the Americans who have never used a European machine.  Each room has 2 washers on bottom and 2 dryers too high for the short passengers to see the control symbols to select time and heat, so total of 4 washers, 4 dryers.  Plus there is a long tray that collects water that must be emptied frequently since they are ventless, and that too is without instruction and too high for short passengers.  Ditto with the filter, as it must be raised straight up.  Group help was hilarious as we all pooled what we discovered to help each other.  Reception was called and the helpful host came up with notes which she referred to, looked at the buttons, back at the notes and said "I have no idea".  Many were dismayed to find they had selected a 3 1/2 hour option.  One who wanted the shortest one wouldn't believe me when I explained that it was rinse only.  Repeated requests for instructions that explained the symbols will hopefully be forthcoming.

  6. Things are fine, only 3 positive passenger PCRs last time so the procedures are working.  Chile substituted panoramic bus tours for our excursions, keeping us in our own bubble and not allowing anyone off the buses or away from the authorized tours.  Most of the expedition team and entertainers had already quarantined prior to getting on last stop, so only those who hadn't, are isolating now. Weather was brilliantly sunny and warm yesterday but we are now getting further south so I hope they distribute the parkas soon!  All stops have had full provisioning so no one is running out of drinks or food!  As usual, the staff are beyond excellent.

  7. I tried in 24 and 48 hours for my husbands with nothing and today it appeared!  Like you, I printed out 2 copies as well as sending it to phone.  Now to wait for them to look at my latest documents of proof to see if this time they can read the QR code.

  8. Yes.  I uploaded both my husband's and mine; his came back accepted and mine was rejected.  The next step is to go after 24 hours to the link they provide to get the mobility pass with a QR code.  I find no QR code or mobility pass.  Maybe it needs more than 24 hours?

  9. Strange that we are stopping first in Richards Bay and after in Durban, since we are heading north and Richards Bay is north of Durban, meaning we have to double back.  I suppose the port must have already been full and couldn't accommodate our date changes.

On the 2019 World Cruise we were required to have the Yellow Fever vaccine.   Because we were both over 65 that vaccine was not recommended for us.  Instead we got a certificate (attested by a travel medicine doctor) that we were contraindicated.   We had no issues with hassles with that certificate.

South America also requires Yellow Fever - Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador and Peru.  Guess I thought everyone had YF vaccine as many countries in the past required it and it is good for life.

  11. Not merged.  This thread is titled WC 2022 tale of tales and was started by Poodle664, now has 99+ replies.  I can only get on by clicking on H of HappyLadyTraveler and selecting one of her replies to this thread.  The other thread I get to by Home-Categories-ROLL CALLS-Silversea Cruise Line Roll Calls-Silver Whisper=Silver Whisper 2022 World Cruise, started by Silver Specter and has only 41 replies.

  12. We plan on bringing UP TO 2 suitcases each plus totes/carryon.  In other words, exactly what we are allowed on our flights to and from the ship.  I am not saying we WILL, but feel we will be able to.  Big question is, where do we store the suitcases etc on the ship.  And how much room is there for unpacking it all.  Winter clothes take up a lot of room!

  13. I think the difference in communication of 'facts' and dates is more due to what country you booked from and who your TA is.  There were differences in dates from the beginning as told to us by our TA and slight differences in other benefits.  We were told of the 20 November final payment months ago but hadn't found this thread to pass it on.  Then again, we know that we were given differences in the past to choose from and our TA would then book us through the country whose perk best suited us.  Our agents are friends who liaise with agents in So. Africa and Germany as well as the UK and US.  As for SilverSeas, we have had 4 trips on them; 2 were disasters, 2 were great.  I guess we are pretty brave to choose a WC on a 50% satisfaction history but the itinerary was too good to pass up.  Other cruise lines we have taken more extensively were Lindblad Expeditions, Seabourn, SeaDream Yacht Club and Regent.

  14. I have been on Silver Seas Whisper World Cruise from Cruise Critic's website but not much going on.  I clicked on HappyLadyTravel and discovered this thread but not how or where to find it.  Nothing is listed as Tale of Tales under their Silver Seas category.
