  1. I think there are just as many oblivious walkers as there are scooter people. Just last summer at an amusement park I witnessed a woman standing still looking at a map and her 3ish? year old son was holding her hand. Then before I knew it I saw a man on a scooter run over the son, while they woman was still looking at the map. Yes, ran him over. Her 3 year old son was underneath this man and his scooter and the man was totally confused as to what was going on and didn't even get off the scooter. Two older teenager type kids ended up lifting the scooter (man still sitting on it) off of the boy.

The scooter man's adult daughter started yelling at the mom that it was her son's fault because her dad was visually impared and couldn't see things very well. What on God's green earth is a man who can't see doing driving a scooter!?

I am using the store provided scooters more and more and will tell you while I am still somewhat new to this, it amazes me how many people, with and without shopping carts, just cut me off or stop right in front of me - I have been lucky so far (or they have = depends on how you look at it) but some of these folks would run me over while I was in the scooter as soon as look at me.

  2. If we buy alcohol while in port will we be allowed to have it on the ship or will they take it from us and return it on the last day?

You get it back the night before you disembark.

For dinner in the MDR, what night will they typically serve lobster? Or do they? We are booked on a 7 night cruise if that helps. Can I request more than one plate?

On the Grandeur in July on a five nighter we had lobster tails one night and my wife had three

Also, for dinner in the MDR, I want to make sure we dress appropriately. What should we expect other guest to be wearing.

Most will follow the suggested dress code but you will find anything and everything.

  3. Thanks all for those tips.

    So to sum up then:

The boys bathrooms are on the side of the ship with blue carpet, except in port when they are red. The boys bathrooms are on my left except when I am facing the blunt end when they are on my right.

The girls bathrooms are on the side of the ship with pink carpet, except in port when they are green. The girls bathrooms are on my right, except when I am facing the blunt end when they are on my left.

I'm on Liberty in April so can someone test this theory please and let me know (preferably after the refit in January). Thanks

But on alternate Thursdays, there is a harvest moon, the captain has a cold, your mother-in-law is with you and you are in the Caribbean - then the bathrooms are unisex.

  4. Does anyone know how far away Coral World is from the port? I wanted to Snuba in St. Thomas but I found that if you go to Coral World that you can do Snuba there also and rccl doesn't offer that type of an excursion. At any rate I'm just trying to figure out how I would get there and how costly getting there woudl be.

IF I remember correctly, it was something like a 20 minute cab ride. I do remember that we loved it and would highly recommend it - The Lorikeets loved my DW's earrings as much as the nectar! We love zoos & aquariums and Coral World, while not the biggest we have been to, was really nice.

  5. This is a very small hint.......When we cruise I am always amazed at the people who wander around the Windjammer with a full plate of food searching for a table......The WJ is usually busy...that is the way it is...however.. find your table first.....put your stuff on it or have one of your party wait there while others get their food. It is so silly to walk around like a sad sack with a full plate looking for a table!:):):)

Since the Windjammer is always near the pool, we have taken our dishes to one of the outdoor tables by the pool - depending on the weather, this can be quite nice.

But you are right, best to grab a table first and have one in your party wait while the other(s) fill their plates - It's what we usually do and we almost always get a window table.

  6. This may not be a secret but it was great nevertheless.

On sailings where we have been lucky enough to have a balcony, in foreign ports and when your balcony is on the docked side of the ship, when the ship is close to sailing time, instead of going up to a deck or lounge for sailaway, just hang out on the balcony - Then as you see all the folks running for all glory be down the dock so as to make the ship on time start cheering and hootin' & hollerin' (you won't be alone) - it was hilarious! This was one of our favorite activities on more than one ship.
