  1. Harry, I have been enjoying your cruise reports for many years.  I was so happy when I happened to see this one. I know you normally cruise RCI, so it was a bit of a surprise to find you on Princess. Your reports make me laugh out loud. My husband thinks I'm crazy. "You're laughing  at something on Cruise Critic?? Really?"  I have even turned my boss into a Cheapo-dad fan!  Gee whiz,  I sound like a creepy stalker fan.  Thank you for the wonderful entertainment.  Now I have to get ready for my own cruise.

  2. Hendricks gin, Perucchi vermouth (hard to find) or Noilly Prat vermouth and Davina Blue cheese olives served dirty in a iced cold martini glass.  Yum!  This is from a female.  I agree, if it's vodka, it isn't a martini.  Spif Barwunkel,  I like the idea of anchovies in the olives.  I will try that.

  3. I think it was our very first cruise, on the Sovereign of the Seas. I thought I'd be cool and test my language skills to tell our suite's room stewardess what a great job she did and thank you for making our bed. I apparently told her we wanted to take her to bed, which led to a really awkward conversation with the Hotel Director and a security guard and trying to explain it was a misunderstanding and that we were both gay. That led to the security guard asking us, numerous times, "then why did you ask this nice lady to go to bed with you!"

    Now, that is really funny.

  4. Love packing cubes! If there is a couple of you traveling together. Get different colours and place a full set of clothes into a packing cube and the place it into your partners bag. If one of your bags "goes missing" or is late being delivered to your room then you won't be wearing the same clothes until the bag turns up.

Next addiction is zip lock bags.....

I agree. They are great for cross packing.

  5. We are from Cary NC (near Raleigh) and having driven to both Cape Canaveral and Port Everglades for cruises. Port Canaveral is easy to do in one day. We take 2 days to do Port Everglades, stopping overnight in Savannah. We always come in the day before for all the reasons stated above. We get a hotel reservation for a park and cruise package near the port, take the shuttle or uber to the port. Less headaches than flying and very relaxing. Enjoy your cruise!

  6. 6 ships in port on my 11/12/2016 cruise on the Freedom.

Other ships were the Harmony, Anthem, RCL's Azamara, Brittanica out of South Hampton and a Carnival ship.

Extremely crowded in port area and downtown.

I was on the same cruise as you. We were extremely happy that we had pre-booked a snorkel excursion leaving from Oyster Bay. Just trying to get back to the ship after the excursion was nuts.

  7. Thinking of booking dining package.

Not food snobs by any means, but we lived in NJ for years, husband is Italian and a wonderful cook so we are pretty familiar with good Italian food.

Would appreciate input on quality of Giovanni's food? (I know it is subjective, but hoping it is better than Olive Garden and other chains.)

Giovanni's is much better than Olive Garden. I thought the one on the Grandeur was better then the one the Radiance.
