  1. My family and I are sailing on RCIs Liberty of the Seas and arrive in Marseille on a Monday in June. I don't see much worthwhile do see / do in Marseille and rather then spend the day there, I am thinking a trip to Aix en Provence would be more interesting and a better way to experience Provence. Does anyone have thoughts on this?

Any must see / do in either location? Any insights are greatly appreciated.

  2. We are arriving in Civitavecchia on the Liberty of the Seas on June 12 (Thursday) and were reserving a Rome Cabs pick-up to take our group to central Rome. To best schedule a tour reservation in Rome, how long should we expect the drive to be, considering traffic, etc. We expect to be picked up at the port at 8-8:30 am? Any input is appreciated.

  3. Upon disembarkation in Civitavecchia, what are the best and/or least time consuming alternatives to travel from the cruise port directly to Florence?

I would rather not lose half a day going all the way back to Rome / Termini then board another train to Florence. Are there other alternatives, hire a car, rent a car, etc. We only have 2 days in Florence and I didn't want to waste the bulk of the first day travelling. If there is a more direct alternative, we would rather do that.

Any help or insights would be appreciated.

  4. The family is taking one of the 7-night Liberty of the Seas cruises this summer that originates in Barcelona but we are actually boarding in Rome and continuing for the seven nights and disembarking from Rome the following week.

My question is, how does embarkation work on one of these cruises (scheduled departure time from Civitaveccha is 7pm). What time can we board, what time do we need to be at the port, what other concerns are there when you join a cruise in the middle of the itinerary? We have not done one of these types of cruises before and only have experience with the Caribbean type cruises where everyone gets on and gets off at the same port.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
