@Vegasgreg19 - we are on that sailing as well. You haven't heard anything about replacing GSC with Nassau have you? This will be our fourth time that GSC has been on our itinerary and we haven't made it the first three (due to rough seas). I'd like to actually visit the island 😆
No, haven't actually received word that we will skip it, but it will not surprise me if we did. And don't hold your breath for DR as that will probably be skipped as well.

And what was it replaced with?
We're on the 1/8/23 sailing, have also had GSC replaced with Nassau and would hate to miss one of the two shows as well.
We are on the 1-15-23 sailing and I read in another post that Kinky Boots contract with the performers ends 1-5-23 and it was not renewed so as of now, nothing is replacing it. In the app for entertainment on our sailing, it just lists Choir of Man and the comedy club as well as the Cavern Club.

I have commented in another thread about this very thing. NCL knows but plays the "unforeseen" card to save face. We are going on the Encore 1-15-23 and I have been seeing alot about this and the changes recently. I don't have issues with the changes but just be upfront about them. Don't play the "oh gee guess we will not be able to dock there today!" card when they in fact know before hand that we aren't docking there due to the issues with the ports in DR.

Our upcoming trip (Jan15th) shows a flip flopped itinerary on the ports schedules than from what NCL has for us. NCL says we are going to GSC first and the port schedules have us going there the last day. Also for DR shows 4 ships in port with 2 being the Carnival Celebration and HAL Nieuw Statendam and the Encore and Getaway also being there the same day. If both the Encore and Getaway can't dock at Amber and Taino Bay not an option because of the size, I am guessing we will be "Cancelled" and they will either then tell us about the flip flopping itinerary then instead of now even though they know already that we won't be docking there. I would rather they be upfront with us and tell us now rather than making it look like they had no idea and springing it on us like " Oh my gosh we are so sorry but it looks like we won't be able to dock today!" To me it just seems kind of shady to do folks that way.

I called MSC as we are sailing 9/3 just after the 8/29 change. The answer that I got was that the proctored tests would be acceptable. The verbiage is very confusing as they did NOT have the "lab administered" part in there before.
We are on that cruise as well and when I called I was told very adamantly, that the home proctored tests will NOT be accepted. You can see why this is so confusing.....

Will your health insurance cover it?
CVS billed my health insurance each time we were tested even during the height of the pandemic when I had to get tested weekly for work.
My insurance paid $25 each time and I never saw a bill from CVS for the balance but I wonder if that will change now.I hadn't had to pay anything at all up until now. The pharmacist I spoke to said "it has to do with how you fill out the online health questionnaire as to if you get charged as insurance won't cover it if it is for travel or a cruise". So maybe there is a way to take it for like work or something in the questionnaire. But we are kind of in that grey area window where we cruise Sept. 3rd so it's getting down to the wire and just want to know what we can do to provide that negative test and how much that's going to cost us.

Its sure is confusing. Called my local CVS and Walgreens and was told that unless it is for medical purpose, their test now cost $128 at Walgreens and $208 at CVS. 😲

I just called MSC and asked about the Biomax home proctored test and she said no, no home proctored tests will be accepted now but to check the website daily for any changes to the current heath and safety measures.

I am confused by this chart. The Easy Plus package includes drinks up to $9, but the frozen drinks are all $10, as far as I can see. Which one is correct?
There are the "upscale frozen drinks" and then there are the regular ones that are covered by the Easy Plus package. We had several of each one! Here is a shot of those:

Was on the Divina a couple of weeks ago. There isn't a kids pool really. Outside the main pool there is shallow water that kids could splash around but it was barely ankle deep water. In my opinion the kids areas on the Divina are sort of an after thought. The other ships seem like they have more for kids. At least that was my impression.
-
Yes it was available for $80 pp to upgrade to premium but we were good with the Easy Plus package we had.
-
Just got off the Divina and yes the frozen drinks are included. In fact, the Blue Hawaii became our favorite drink while on board! Of course be sure you get a Frozen Toblerone...those were pretty good too!
-
Actually we have the Easy Plus Package and I found this as an option to upgrade to the premium package:
This is for our cruise leaving March31st.

I just checked on that itinerary. You are correct. There is a three day leaving on the Divina on March 24 but nothing after that date until early April. Could it be a charter?
We actually just booked on Friday for March 31st- April 4th sailing from Miami.

For our July 1st Cruise on the Conquest, we are staying at the Ramada Oakland Park Inn. We have stayed there before. Its a nice place, not to expensive and they have a free shuttle to the port as well.

Thanks to all who have replied.
While this cruise on July 1st was not our ideal week, it was the only time that we could all get 6 peoples schedules to line up with. This is a graduation present for our daughter who is graduating from college in May but starts Nursing school two days later and her only break was in July. I knew it would be hot but we are gluttons for punishment I guess because being from Colorado where there is no humidity, we have opted for this cruise then 3 days at Universal studios! We should get our fill of humidity for the next 2 years! LOL! So thanks for the info so far to everyone who has offered up any.
My next question is Do they do anything special for 4th of July on board? I can't imagine that fireworks being shot off a boat is a great idea but you never know!
-
My wife and I have been going on cruises every odd year since 2009. Usually they have been in May or the beginning of June. This year, we are sailing July 1st. As per my usual pre-cruise routine, I begin reading up here and join the roll call for our cruise. Most roll calls have been pretty big with more and more folks joining the closer it gets. For this cruise, there are 3 people in the roll cal. Yes 3. The cruise is 96 days away! Usually by this time in the past, there have been a bunch of folks. Also I noticed for the first time on a Carnival cruise, the FTTF was still available and so I jumped at it and bought it as in past cruises it has been sold out and we have never been able to get it. As of today, it's still available. So is this just a fluke? Is July a good time to cruise because no one else is? I have to admit, with only 3 families on the boat, it sure will be nice to spread out and not be crowded at all! ( I know there will be other people on the boat. Not everyone who cruises is on these boards...thought they should be!)

Vegasgreg19, I will certainly be paying attention in order to say hello! Expect you are just as excited as we approach the final hours before departure... :)
Excited? Nah not really...LOL :D
I have already been telling my co-workers to expect me to show up tomorrow wearing a hawaiian shirt and shorts and to not be counted on for anything as I will already be mentally checked out! (Shhh don't tell them that I have already been mentally checked out for the whole week!)
-
We will be on this cruise with you! You sound like a fun bunch and very similar to our whole group! If you see a guy in Colorado Rockies Gear, say howdy! See you on board!

First time on RCI (Indy of the seas) in less than 2 weeks (Woo hoo!) and all of us in our party have only sailed on Carnival in the past. We are all excited to try a new line.
Some folks in my party have asked if there is a sail away deck party like those on Carnival? I have not been able to find a concrete answer. Some in our party like the whole party, dance with the fancy drinks with umbrella's in them atmosphere on sail away. Thanks for any answers and help with this! Sail on!

Does anyone have a copy of the Beer list that is offered in Dog and Badger Bar on Independence Of The Seas?
Have been told a wide variety of beers on offer only available at this bar?
Thanks
I too, am wondering about this. The other reply went to a comment about non-alcoholic beers on the Allure.

How about you get so used to dinning in the MDR that when you get home and go out to eat, after you are done you just get up and walk out of the restaurant without paying!

Vegasgreg, I will be doing the same thing on my upcoming cruise. I will let you know how well it works.
Shame on you, you villainous thief!!!
*whisper*ppssst----yeah let me know how it goes!
NCL no longer giving OBC for price drop?
in Norwegian Cruise Line
Posted
That's what happened to us. Our price dropped so they submitted it and told us it would be a FCC not OBC. We then received an email saying that they reviewed it and the price drop was not the same for the offer we booked on so not FCC or anything.
