  1. I cruised the Western Carribbean in 2008 on the Costa Mediterrannea. Lots of French and German speaking passengers were on board. I posted a review on this board. I can't figure out how to post a link to the review, but If you do a search under "passenger reviews" and Western Carribbean" and scroll down you will find it easily.

  2. Hello All,

I'm considering a last minute cruise on the Brilliance 5 day from Tampa.

Past cruises have been on NCL and Princess. Can any recent cruisers comment on the ship? Is there a coffee bar? do they have anytime dining or is dining at a set time?

How dressy is the crowd? are khaki's and a collared shirt for men fine for the dining room?

Any comments on the buffet or specialty dining?

    Thanks for any comments

  3. Hi -

We were in aft-facing penthouse #9232 on the Dawn last week, and the divider to the wrap around area was open the entire time. (We were never quite sure if this was an accident or oversight, but we adopted a "don't ask, don't tell" policy and it remained open thoughout the cruise! :)) It's not a particularly large or practical space - you can't sit there, and chairs won't fit - but it made our balcony seem a little more spacious. We enjoyed the view from it, and took some pictures. It was a nice surprise, because we were expecting the divider to be closed and locked!

Thank you for posting pictures of the balcony. I am considering booking the exact same cabin on the Dawn later in the year. Thought it would be nice to surprize hubby with a suite for his birthday...Do you have any more pictures of the cabin to post?

Also,,,,was there much vibration in the cabin from the engines?

  4. Hi,

We just got back from a cruise on another cruise line. The pool band was a duo; they hardly played and were not good.

It has been a few years since we sailed on the Grand Princess. We remember having a great band that played all day by the pool and consisted of 4 band members. Is this still the case on Princess ships - in particular, on the Crown and Ruby?

    Thanks so much.

I returned from the Crown on Dec 6. One of the pools had live music for an hour or so around lunch and around four in the afternoon on sea days. The band was called Passion...two female lead singers, a drummer, keyboardist and guitarist. They also played in one of the clubs at night and at the carribean deck party and at sailaway.

I would have enjoyed more live music on deck during sea days,

  6. I believe these three cabins are all for handicap passengers but if you have been issued a choice between these 3, I would definitely take cabin 4205 as I think this one has a semi obstructed view and yes they will have french doors. The obstruction to the right is part of the lifeboat but to the left side of the doors you can see the ocean down below and across. Definately not cabin 4207 as there is the entire lifeboat in front and I think that 4203 the same. What one can see from these two handicap cabins is the ocean from underneath the lifeboat only. NOt much of a view at all. All the handicaps cabins are larger than the 185 sq. ft. of the outside cabins. I had cabin 4133 obstructed view mid-ship and was quite content with it. Just seeing and smelling the ocean and hearing the waves was great.

    Thank You

  7. The following oceanview cabins with obstructed view that one can acutally see and hear the ocean are: 4114 4115, 4122, 23, 4140,41,4148,49, 4196, 97. The best most view is in cabin 4122 and 4123. These cabins are very large (185 sq.ft) and have a large leather sofa, mini fridge, safe, pleanty of closet space and the view is from two french doors that actually open in-ward (you can hold it open with the door stop from the entrance. There is a wooden railing as high as a balcony railing so as safe as those I am sure. From the railing downward it is clear plexiglass or whatever it is called. I just had one 4133 on Carnival Miracle in June and it is the same ship exactly except for the Carnival touch. For the price I prefer it to a regular oceanview that is on a lower deck and just a view. Nice to hear/smell and see the ocean. I laid back on my bed feet towards headboard and enjoyed the view that way. It was great! Have a super cruise.

Thanks for the cabin specific info.

Do you have any idea about 4203, 4205 and 4207 on the Atlantica? On the ship diagram they look like they might have the french doors

  8. We have done 9 cruises on other lines, but are considering Norwegian Majesty to Bermuda, out of Baltimore. We did this cruise several years ago on Celebrity's Horizon, an older, smaller ship and had a great time. BUT, the cabin size on Majesty looks extremely small. It says insides are 108 sq feet and many outsides are about 145 sq feet. For those that have done this ship, is there anyplace to hang clothes or put them in drawers? From reading reviews, it seems like people either love this ship or hate it. Any comments/advice/recommendations are welcome. Thank you.

Majesty cabins are small and smaller, but they do have drawer space, shevles and a closet. The superior cabins, CC I think are 145 SF. The less expesive ones are 108 sf. We usually book a G on deck 8, 108 sf. It's cosy but ok for 2.
