  1. Hi, Ann,

It was a bit cold at the river, so I am not sure if we saw you on deck. I took quite a few pictures, which I posted at the roll call. Hope you have a great cruise!

Here is the link to the roll call:

Thank you so much! You were right, it was freezing! Yes, you did get us on the deck. Thanks again for freezing for us! You are so generous to do this for strangers. The kids are so surprised that there really was someone taking pictures of us.

  2. We have a large basket in the corner of the family room full of throw blankets. Well, my favorite is the Movie Time blanket and I normally end up losing it to the five year old. But anyway, the blanket is so soft, it is great to curl up with watching a movie at home.

  3. You can check cruise fish. That can tell you the percentage of categories still available for booking. Not real accurate, as it doesn't tell you how many rooms, only categories available. So, as long as at least one room in each category is available, it will show 100% availability.

Just checked cruise fish, 61%. So I was pretty close. Sept. 14, hopefully this means more price drops...

  4. Go to the cruise line's website and start the booking process to see what's available. Most will show you a certain number of cabins but will also let you type in a specific cabin number to see if it's available. What these website don't show, however, is the number of guarantee cabins booked that have not been assigned.

I have tried that and it seems there is close to a third of the ship open.

  5. Oh my.....well, across the street is also Chuck's Steakhouse and

next door to Embassy is an Outback.

Chuck's is local....of course you know Outback.....he could get a steak

    and does he eat potatoes?

Yes he does eat potatoes. I guess we will plan on one of those. Thanks again.

  6. We park at the port for $15/day. Those hotels may offer parking packages. You can walk to Bimini Boatyard easily from either hotel but it gets pretty mixed reviews. I've never had a bad meal there, but haven't been recently. Market 17 is a good restaurant, across the street from the plaza where Bimini is.

Thank you I will check out Market 17.

  7. Hi,:) Embassy is very well liked...lots of cruisers stay there. And Bimimi

is across the street. I ate there last year and I was not impressed.

Many folks like it but I won't be going back. In my opinion, I thought

it was overpriced and the service was not very good.

Embassy has ALOT of restaurnts within walking distance besides

    Bimini......

Bravo is in the same strip mall as Bimini......I have eaten there over

the years and loved it...it is Italian.

Also, right behind Embassy are "Harbour Shoppes".....there is a

wonderful Thai restaurant in there called COCO'S.......I love it:D

There is also a locally owned Mexican place called Carlos and Pepe's

near the hotel...it is very good too. (In my opinion).

As for parking? There is port parking.....Embassy is very close to the

port. Maybe someone else can give you more information on the parking.

I think there are indpendent lots as well.....but I don't have that

    information.

Hope you have a great cruise:)

Thank you for your help. I think we are going to go with the Embassy. The thing on the Bimini menu DH was looking at was the baby back rids. Is there anyplace close with that sort of thing? He is so picky, won't eat seafood, doesn't like cheese so that throws out Italian or Mexican.

  8. We are cruising out of Port Everglades in December and driving down the day before. We are looking at the 17th St. Embassy Suites and The Hyatt Place 17th St. Convention Center.

Does anyone have any thoughts on either of these?

We also need a place to park our car for the 8 day cruise. Any suggestions would be great.

Lastly, we are thinking about going to the Bimini Boatyard Bar and Grill, is this good restaurant? Is it in a decent area? Would we be able to walk to the restaurant from either hotel or is the car a must?

Thank you in advance for your help.

  9. :)We are so, so, so, so VERY happy we went with ProExcursion for this!!!

While the other groups were taking VERY full boats out to the island (which were cramped, and the people were sitting like sardines), we had a catamaran-type speed boat with four crew members and 11 guests. It was WONDERFUL!!!! There was a net on the front where you could lie down on it if you wanted. At first just the three kids on the boat (ages 7, 16, and 20) were on there - two different families that did not know each other. They had SO much fun.

The crew was absolutely wonderful. They were SO helpful when it came time to snorkel around the old pier. You won't see tons of fishlife there, but you will see some pretty fish.

When we got to the island, it truly looked like paradise!!!

We were treated to a special kind of Dominican Republic bread (can't remember the name of it) and the bar - we don't drink alcoholic beverages, so I don't know what was there, but they had a punch and cokes.

(oh, and the cokes and water on board the boat were COLD!!!!!!!)

The food on the island was traditional D.R. food, and even my picky 16 y.o. liked it :)

When it was time to go, we stopped at the "natural pool"/sandbar to see the starfish....SO amazing!!!

And yes, you WILL get back to the ship on time.

    Their reputations depend upon it!!!

We had plenty of time to spare, and in fact, had to wait on two Carnival big tour buses that were running late. So we were late getting out of port.

On the way back on the catamaran-type speed boat, I took the opportunity to lie down on the net with the kids! Oh, what fun!!!! Guess I was the only adult brave enough/stupid enough or whatever, but I'm SO glad I did. It felt as if you were flying:)

I SO recommend ProExcursion. We had been booked with another group, and changed based upon the recommendations above....and we are absolutely THRILLED that we did!!!!!

You will NOT be disappointed. It was our most expensive excursion (and the most expensive excursion we've ever done in our total 15 ports), but was definitely one of THE highlights!!!

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me....

    blessings...robin

This sounds like what we are looking for. Which tour was it you booked for this excursion?

  10. Thanks beachbride!! My concerns are location (being close to waterworks) and if being forward & high if there is more movement on the ship.

    Enjoy your cruise!! :)

Thank you for all of the other replies regarding the balcony not being covered. We love balconies and this will be our first spa balcony. While I think I'd prefer it to be covered, we are open to experiencing something new. :) Also, the fitness room is directly above us and then it's the Serenity Deck, I was told, so people looking down on us shouldn't be an issue. If anyone can confirm otherwise, please let me know.

You did not know you were close to waterworks at all until you stepped out in the waterworks area. However there was a lot of movement being up there. I missed the first elegant night due to sea sickness. Another night we had rough waters and I woke up sick again. I did use Bonine and sea bands.
