  1. This is no surprise.  Nor does it upset us.  When we started crusing over 20 years ago, pierside check-in was the norm.  In addition, with Azamara's ships only welcoming some 700 passengers, as compared to today's mega-ships with 4000-5000 passengers, this Azamara check-in should be a breeze.  We expect that AZ employees will be giving out luggage tags at the terminal.  Just be sure to put your cabin number on the tag, and you should be good to go.  If the cruise staff are properly prepared for this, it should go relatively smoothly.

We are so disappointed in what will be offered on our July sailing. At first AZ said there’d be an Azamazing Evening in Reykjavik at the Harpa Concert Hall (a very interesting site that we want to see). We were very excited about this. Then, we were notified of a change and now all we get is a Destination Celebration which is only a 1.5h concert on the ship. That’s a very significant downgrade. I expect entertainment on the ship so I fail to see how this is special.

The Harpa Concert Hall is, indeed, an amazing facility.  However, the entertainer (Greta Salome) is unbelievably talented.  We saw her on an Oceania cruise in 2017.  While we are disappointed that there won't be an AzAmazing Evening on this cruise, we can guarantee that you won't be disappointed with the entertainment.

Where were you able to see current/reduced pricing on excursions?

I logged into my Azamara account and looked for my current shore excursions (seeing which ones showed as "Booked." )  They had been paid for with OBC at the time of booking.  Then when I looked at the shore excursion pages, the excursions which I had booked showed at a lower price, but when I returned to the main page, the prices were still the original higher prices.  They told me they can't be changed because we were already paid in full.  This makes no sense.  If I used OBC, then why can't I cancel them and rebook them at the lower prices using my OBC?

Although every cruise we've ever sailed many or most excursions are more onboard than pre-cruise.

But no question. This is different. They absolutely should honor the pre-cruise price. No exceptions.

Our problem is that two of our pre-booked excursions have gone DOWN in price.  Finally got through to an agent on the phone and then got an e-mail specifically stating that Azamara will NOT reduce the price from what we paid originally to the new price.  I guess it works both ways.

  5. Just wondering...are gratuities included for both Prime C and Aqualina?  We dined in each last September (2022) and were unsure whether to leave a tip or not.  Booked on the Journey for June 28th and would be appreciative if someone could clear this up.  Thanks.

  6. We had towel animals in our cabin every night of our recent TA on the Jade.  We were surprised as we had heard that NCL had decided not to do them anymore (higher cost of laundering additional towels).  Glad they were there, but we wouldn't have had any issues if they weren't.

P.S.  Submitted a review a few days ago (mostly positive) but it still hasn't been published.  Are the CC people sitting on it for some reason?  How long should it take?

  7. 8/16 Ketchagain cruiser here...

We have finally received the last part of our cruise fare refund. We are now at 100% refunded for the cruise.

We are now just waiting on the FCC and airfare reimbursement. Celebrity told our TA that the FCC's were mailed last Monday direct to us. I haven't found one in the mail yet and I'm not sure if it is indeed being mailed direct to us or not (as that is exactly the opposite of what we were told previously.) Has anyone else that used a TA had their FCC mailed directly to you?

We were also on the 8/16 sailing. Got the full refund a few weeks ago. Still waiting for the reimbursement of expenses post-cruise. And still waiting for FCC certificates. I will be VERY upset if we have to TRAVEL within a year, considering that it is now two months post-cruise, so we effectively have only 10 months to use these FCCs. Would like to use them for a Caribbean sailing on 10/25/14 but I'm getting the impression that they won't be valid then.

Spoke with my TA today (who was on the cruise with us). She has not received any of our FCCs yet, and neither have we.

  8. Our prepaid specialty restaurant was refunded to our on-board account. We went to the Olympic on Tuesday night and cancelled our Thurs night reservation. Have you checked her onboard statement?

...and so far we still have NOTHING of our cruise fare refunded; just a response from our TA that they will look into it.

We received our cruise fare refund (via credit card) last week. Then got an additional refund this week. The combined refund came to exactly what we had paid. Still waiting for the future cruise credit certificate, as well as the check for our expenses related to the Aug. 16th sailing.
