10th cruise last month.....it was on the Breakaway. it was awesome. Even though it was a NY crowd :(

So far all the cruises I been on were great. No problems.
What people are saying is accurate, there are those that will complain about anything and everything.
Were they wearing tee shirts that said "We're from NY"? ;-)

Most trips to Bermuda are multiple day stays, not sure why he would complain about more days at sea. If they want to attract more land based tourism which is what they really need to not be "under the cruise lines thumb", they would need to seriously up their game. There is not one major resort entity on the Island other than Fairmont, the last I can remember was Marriott and they have been gone for years. From what I have read the gov't continually gets in the way of building the land based tourism industry

We sometimes use the minibar.
If I wake up thirsty at 2 or 3am (which I often do) and there is no juice or sodas in the room then I will raid the minibar.
I realise the markup on the minibar contents is high but Celebrity are a business and we're talking about few dollars extra-not hundreds.
We usually do pickup a couple of unopened cans of Coke Zero from one of the bars at the end of each evening but sometimes we do forget (or we're very thirsty and need more).
If I can spend thousands taking "Luxury"Cruises then I am not about to start loosing sleep over a couple of dollars extra that Coke Zero from the minibar just cost me:rolleyes:

Just don't call me............................Late for cocktails! LOL

I wasn't saying they were Mexican fish sandwiches, the point I was trying to make was I wouldn't order moo-shoo pork from an Italian joint even if the chef was Chinese. I wasn't trying to slight Rosa's in any way.
We have a small Mexican take out place here on Long Island that is set up just like a Chinese take out, even the paper menu is set up and looks just like one you would get at a Chinese take out. Funny thing is that it is owned, staffed and the cooks are all Chinese. I've eaten real Mexican food on numerous trips south of the border and the food in this take out is equal to anything I've had in Mexico...... So you never know until you've tried it

We stayed in the Hotel Colon overlooking the Square and Old Cathedral. It was a number of years ago but it was a very nice, clean room overlooking the square with a Juliet balcony. Staff was very friendly and turned us on to an excellent guide with a mini van that took our group to the Monastery at Montserrat. They also recommended a great seafood restaurant.

Definitely no alcohol in UK Rose's.

It was probably just too many Gin and Lime's down the community club! Not good for the memory. LOL!
-
We have Roses Lime cordial here in the states, but if I remember correctly it is not quite the same as in the UK. I always remembered the Roses in the UK as having a slight alcohol content and in the States it doesn't. I spent a couple of years in the London area many moons ago
What do you expect from a $20 watch - quality. A $20 watch is a piece of junk. If it ran until I got home,I would be happy. For All of you who have mentioned watches from vendors such as Citizen, Heuer, Fossil, etc., they are not $20 watches. Keep to the topic of the post.
DON
As you can see by the pictures posted by the OP, they brought up Tag Heure, not me. I simply responded to their post -
Or a really expensive thousand dollar one of a kind watch? (the watch guys told me very limited Steve McQueen model....yeah right?)
While not a "one of a kind" this is a limited edition automatic chronograph Tag Heuer Monaco Steve McQueen which retails for $5900.00, so If they were asking $1000.00 you missed a steal of a deal! I would have been all over it for that price. As for $20.00 watches you get what you pay for could last 6 weeks or 6 years

DW and I did this tour of Achillion Palace a few years ago and had a wonderful time. We booked it through the ship so not sure how to go on your own
It was very interesting and we had a lovely 1/2 day there

Look at Hotel Colon, Av. Catedral, 08002 Barcelona. +34 933 011 404. Wonderful location, restaurants, Las Ramblas, La Boqueria Market, HOHO bus. We always stay here, and we ask for a room overlooking the Catedral. Last time we had a huge balcony. Very good breakfast.
As an aside, the green shower gel is an excellent eye makeup remover. I always ask for a couple of extras.
Enjoy Barcelona. Beware of pickpockets. When you see a sign that says that, resist moving your hands to touch your valuables. Local pickpockets take notice, and shop the sites you just showed them.

I second this choice. We stayed there a number of years ago in a room overlooking the square and Cathedral. Loved it!

Ok, I must be dense today, 2 replies seem to be going after the OP and I am confused. The signature denotes something??
I'm with you on that, I don't get it

I agree also, we went there one morning a few years ago with my 3 grand kids, DW and DD/SIL.
We had a great morning there and the kids really enjoyed it. Is it the best beach I've been to in BDA? Probably not but it was convenient and enjoyable and as long as the kids had a great time I'm happy

I could be wrong but San Juan is a US territory so there should be no problem joining there.
-
You should have no problem face timing, I did it on the Breakaway 2 years ago so we wouldn't miss talking to my grand daughter on her birthday
-
I've never been on a cruise when something wasn't getting painted. If they are working on our balcony it never lasted more than a couple of hours to do it and the surrounding balconies

I don't see your review. Which one of your user names did you post it under?

Whats an appropriate tip for this process? Two people and two pcs of luggage. Thanks
I do $2.00 per bag and $10.00 for helping across the street. Last time my ride was waiting and the porter helped load the bags into the back of the truck

They have for me and more recently for other family members. Just ask politely and tip appropriately and the will take care of you. Have a great cruise!

No problem. The Breakaway IMHO caters to the customer that wants to drink, smoke, and gamble. It is caters to people on the East coast as it is close to the port.. If this were a destination like South America you have a different passenger who is going to fly that far. Obviously they are most likely to be going for the destinations, as we have done twice before..once on NCL and once on Celebrity, and smoking was not an issue.
I agree with the poster about the non smoking casino on Celebrity. I like the slots, and more people play because it is non smoking.
If you smoke that is your choice. Please do not exhale.[/quote
While I respect your opinion I think that you have painted over 4000 people with an extremely wide brush. While I'm sure that there will be people that wish to smoke, drink and gamble on board as there would be on any cruise regardless of departure point it is not a majority of the passengers on board, if it were the casino would be one extremely over crowded venue. I will agree that the location of the casino on the BA exacerbates the smoke issue. As a former smoker I did smell smoke while walking in areas around the casino but not enough to be bothered, although I can see how some people may find it worse than others
-
The Breakaway really caters to a certain crowd. The smoke was terrible, and we were totally enjoying our Haven Owners suite. We do not smoke, nor drink a lot...but the cruise was pleasant as long as we did not go out. I was pretty sure that the customer on the Breakaway wasn't going to fly all the way to South America, but was curious. We had a nice trip, but think we will stay off the mega ships. Thanks for the comments.
Can you clarify what type of "crowd" the BA caters to? And you lost me on the flying to South America comment maybe you can clarify that also
Thanks
I've been sailing NCL long enough to remember when...

NCL Skyward 1988. No television in the cabin, themed midnight buffets ( seafood, Italian, Mexican). The baked alaska parade and singing waiters! The main entertainment was all done by the cruise staff with help from the Dive In staff and the 5 piece band. A good reggae band on deck during the day and not some blaring DJ
