  1. I ended up using the track twice while on board. I did 13 miles on Sunday morning and 6 on Friday morning. Both days I was out by 5:30 am and had no problem running but as the time inched closer to 7 it became a little harder to run due to the amount of people on the track. Sometimes it was hard to pass others who are walking two across.

It is an odd placement to have the track pass right by a smoking section which always seemed to be busy even it 5:30 am. The track was a little wet from the morning wash down but I never slipped once and once the sun rises it dries it up nicely.

Now to talk about the size/laps. The track is labeled as 8 laps /mile and 5 laps/Km. My wife and I both independently came to the conclusion that per mile laps is probably closer to 9. After the first couple of miles we were both astonished on how fast our miles were and knew right away that 8 was not right. I compensated by adding one lap per mile while my wife decided to walk the Waterfront lap on deck 8 which we measured, before the ship left port, to be .25 miles per lap.

When we were back in Miami I meant to measure the track myself but forgot to.

The track is not perfect but it fulfilled its purpose.

  2. In the three ports the Escape hits, what are some good wi-fi spots? And even if it's "free wifi", I'd still need to pay for data through Verizon, right?

We were able to find free wifi in the places we went to in the ports on the Feb 20 sailing.

St. Thomas there was wifi at The Mountain Top

Tortolla - we took a boat to Jost Van Dyke and found wifi at The Soggy Dollar bar

Nassau - There was wifi in Dunkin Donuts and I believe also at Mcdonalds

We were in airplane mode the entire time, no need to pay for any Verizon service.

  3. I just got off of the Escape and have been on the Epic twice. The Escape has more of a bar variety than the Epic and I would say that the food is pretty equivalent on both. I agree with the previous poster the pool area on the Escape just has no flow and is too congested. I really think there are too many deck chairs. The pools and slides are much better on the Epic.

The Escape is new and beautiful and we had a great time but we got off her having a weird feeling unlike other cruises. All we could come up with is that we liked the Epic better. My son really missed having glass elevators to ride in on the Escape.

My family would pick the Epic.

  4. We just got off the Escape 2/20 sailing and stayed in 13312. I don't have any pictures on hand right now, but I can say it definitely will not fit 2 loungers and two chairs. I would say two chairs and a table or one lounger. We had friends next door in 13310 and their balcony was a little longer, maybe by a foot.

Edit: I forgot that the balcony sticks out a little beyond the railing. More than one lounger might just fit but only in the upright position.

  5. We just sailed Escape last week and saw all three shows. I'm glad I got to see MDQ before it left because it was awesome. Some in my party thought it dragged on a little but I loved the musical history lesson. For The Record was equally great, especially, if you are familiar with movies that are showcased. I'm curious how the show will change on the big stage because in The Supper Club they ran around and in between the table and chairs and I liked that. The food served was not to our liking, so that is a change for the good.

  6. I seriously think "Doug Time" is going to become a permanent part of my lexicon. I ran errands today in a car with clock failure due to a dead battery several weeks ago and never reset, and worked on a remote server with an incorrect clock while looking at a dead wall clock. I laughed at living in Doug Time and kept on.

I was thinking the exact same thing.
