  1. With Puerto Rico requiring a negative test for those planning a post cruise stay within 24 hours of debarking (RC will provide) , we will cancel as having our 2 13 year old twins with us we can’t risk a positive test and quarantine. They’re already missing a week of school for the cruise and post stay. We’ll just go forward with our trip to PR as we don’t have to test to come home. 2 weeks in PR suits me fine, we’ll cruise again when we’re able to enjoy the things we cruise for.

  2. Received this today. FYI

Updated health and safety protocols for San Juan, Puerto Rico Departures

For sailings departing on or after January 9, 2022

The government of Puerto Rico has recently advised of some changes to their travel regulations for cruise passengers. Below are some important updates to consider for your upcoming cruise. For the full Health & Safety Protocols for your sailing, please be sure to visit our Healthy Sail Center.

    Travel Declaration Form

Entering by Air: All guests must complete the TravelSafe Declaration Form when arriving to Puerto Rico by air. Vaccinated travelers will need to upload their proof of vaccination.

Debarking the Ship: Residents of Puerto Rico and any non-residents extending their stay in Puerto Rico, regardless of vaccination status, must complete the TravelSafe Declaration Form after departure. Guests flying home on departure day are not required to complete the form after their cruise.

    Testing

Entering Puerto Rico by Air: Guests 2 years of age and older must provide a negative result from a PCR or antigen test for COVID-19 taken within 48 hours prior to entering Puerto Rico, regardless of vaccination status. If you’re traveling from outside the United States, you must provide a negative result from a PCR or antigen test for COVID-19 taken within 24 hours prior to boarding a flight to Puerto Rico.

Boarding the Ship: You'll need to bring a negative test result to the cruise terminal to board the ship. This test must be taken on your own and at your own expense, but can be the same result used to enter Puerto Rico, provided you time it right.

    • Vaccinated guests must show a negative result for a PCR or antigen test taken no more than 2 days before boarding day. Kids age 5 to 11 who have been vaccinated may present proof of full vaccination and follow the testing protocols for vaccinated guests.
    • Unvaccinated kids age 2 to 11 must show a negative test result for a PCR test (not antigen) taken no more than 3 days before boarding day — but not on boarding day, as this may affect the results of the complimentary embarkation day test required to be taken at the cruise terminal.
    • Guests under 2 years of age do not need to complete a pre-cruise test.

Post-Cruise: In addition to pre-cruise testing requirements, residents of Puerto Rico ages 2 and older must take a COVID-19 test, at their own expense, within 48 hours of the ship’s return and upload their results on the TravelSafe Declaration.

Non-residents ages 2 and older extending their stay in Puerto Rico after the sailing ends must complete a COVID-19 test within 24 hours of the ship's return and will be provided with a test kit to meet this requirement. The results of the test must be uploaded to the TravelSafe Declaration Form within 24 hours.

Note: Failure to submit COVID-19 test results within the timeframe will result in a $300 USD fine by the government of Puerto Rico.

    Quarantine Requirement

The government of Puerto Rico now requires all unvaccinated guests entering by air or ship to complete a 7 day quarantine period if they intend to remain in Puerto Rico for a time outside of their cruise. Unvaccinated guests arriving into Puerto Rico on the cruise boarding day, or departing Puerto Rico on the same day of debarkation after the cruise ends, will not be required to complete the 7 day quarantine.

    Pre-Cruise:

    • If you arrive to Puerto Rico to join the ship on boarding day, you may go directly to the ship from the airport.
    • If you arrive in Puerto Rico 1 or more days prior to your cruise, any unvaccinated guests in the travel party must remain in quarantine for those days. These guests may only leave to head directly to the cruise terminal for check-in on boarding day.

    Post-Cruise:

    • All unvaccinated residents must quarantine at home for 7 days upon returning from the cruise.
    • Non-residents flying home on departure day do not need to quarantine. You must head directly to the airport.
    • Any unvaccinated non-residents extending their stay in Puerto Rico post-cruise must quarantine for 7 days. If your flight departs prior to the completion of the 7 day quarantine, you must remain in the hotel and may only leave to proceed directly to the airport on the day of your flight.

  3. We have used both Alaska Seaplanes Tours and Island Wings. We have also been on a helicopter glacier tour and will do so again next week. While completely tragic, accidents happen. Air, auto, trains, etc. It would be a shame for people to cancel the upcoming flight reservations as these providers depend heavily on tourism. My deepest condolences to all those affected.

  4. Are children allowed to use the solarium pool while this ship is in AK for designated times ? In Australia/New Zealand there were no children allowed at all but I seem to remember while in AK there were certain time periods allowed. Thanks for your help. (posted on RC board also)

  6. I also have a question regarding air. Denver to Perth 2/22 then 18 night cruise to Sydney. Sydney to Denver 3/23. Planning premium economy. Fares have been around 4500/person Qantas, etc. but Delta premium economy around 2000/ person. Can someone tell me about Delta PE ? There must be a catch. I'm hoping to get multi segment fares for about 3000/person Qantas , Air New Zealand.

  7. We just returned on June 12th from a 12 night Grand Mediterranean cruise with Princess. I used RIL based on the reviews I researched through this site as well as Tripadvisor. I also organized 2 groups in Rome and Naples. In Florence, it was just the 3 of us and our guide Giovanni was excellent. I had imagined the crowds as large, I mean Disney World large as this is the only mass tourism site we have ever visited, we tend to keep to small scale and unpopulated holidays, also we had not traveled to Europe before, so when I say the crowds were unbelievable,I mean you had to walk single file at times or getting up to the Trevi Fountain was an event in itself. Using RIL they walked you up to the door at the Vatican and Accademia, and literally you passed masses of people. They were extremely prompt, and very flexible. All our guides were professional and warm. We also hired guides through RIL for the Vatican and Pompeii and they were also terrific. Sherri

  8. Hi everyone, I have a post on the Princess board for our May 30th sailing Barcelona to Venice on the Ruby hoping to gather a group to use RIL. Not a very big group on this cruise at this point posting on the roll call. I have 2 questions : 1) how big is this company ? We have never been to Europe before and I'm feeling a little anxious re : how soon I should book our tours and 2) do they also have guides they use at the major sites like the Vatican, Pompeii , etc..or am I miss understanding this. I guess I have more then 2 questions :o. I am planning on using them in Rome, Naples and Florence, however if we do a port on our own which of these would you recommend ? Our daughter who is 25 really is not wanting to do all tours. We have traveled alot and have always DIY but I find this trip pretty overwhelming. Finally, will RIL allow you to customize ? Thanks, Sherri
