  1. I called the accessibility department and asked if a note or prescription would work. The woman was very polite as she explained that NCL does not provide them and one cannot be brought on board since they are now prohibited. We talked about alternatives. I will be bringing cooling packs to keep in the mini fridge. I'll probably be out on the balcony naked at 3 am catching a breeze, but it is what it is!

  2. There were no half price fish bowls in the Magic. We were told it would be half price on a port day but it never happened. You can get a pitcher for $21.95 plus gratuity every day. You don't need to buy the souvenir glass to do this, which I learned the hard way lol. Each pitcher is about 3.5 drinks.

  3. Setting sail on 8/22 on the Magic. I got an email last night saying there is a satellite issue and wifi packages will be refunded as sign and sail credit, but you can purchase at a discount each day. I haven't been on Carnival in 15 years. Does this mean a visit to the wifi desk every day?

  4. Rebellious fish is lovely (I hope it's as good as I remember after 3 years!). I sometimes do the Mango Meltdown, but sub vodka for the Oakheart Rum. On the Escape they made me frozen mojitos with half the simple syrup, but not on the Gem.

There was also a Lavender martini at Shakers that was nice.

Cruise lines are definitely shifting this cost back to the customer. It is getting insanely expensive for limited supplies. One of the leading testing supply companies shutdown operations over the Summer because it was coming to an end. Then Delta and Omicron hit. On top of that is a lot of companies require weekly testing if you are not vaccinated. Some companies are requiring weekly testing regardless. Another issue is the popup testing sites. Because there were no requirements in the laws about cost of testing, they can charge what they want back to insurance. I forgot the name of the one, but they are billing $350-$500 back to insurance.

    It really is insane!

  6. When we booked our cruise 1000 years ago, one perk was prepaid gratuities for categories excluding suite and Haven. If I happen to win an upgrade to a suite from our aft balcony, what happens? PCC didn't have an answer. Would they charge us the difference? Would I lose them entirely?  If the grats go away, I want to factor that into my total bid since it's an extra $300ish to pay the service charges. Thanks everyone!

Gutted as I booked two haven cabins yesterday via CAS and today each has dropped $1000, would I have any options?

Call CAS and ask them to update the pricing. Are you beyond final payment date? Did you pay to upgrade or were you comped a Haven? We are a few weeks from final payment and they adjusted our 3rd passenger fare to reflect the current promo. Sometimes CAS is a little more lenient than the standard line.

  8. A funny story...

We met some Germans on our last cruise and became friendly. One day, they were very confused as the dailies translated Beanbag Toss in English to the equivalent of testicles in German...it took a creative version of charades to explain this game had nothing to do with male anatomy!

We had a very enjoyable 10-day winter cruise out of NY on the Gem five years ago.  Of course, there was that memorable moment on a beautiful sea day  -- we'd been relaxing on loungers in the shade up on Deck 13 when a woman sat down on a chair next to us, pulled out a pair of nail clippers, and began clipping her toenails right then and there.  Clip clop, clip clop, nail pieces flying everywhere.  We looked over and very politely suggested to her that this particular activity was more appropriate for one's cabin.  To which she replied, "I'm on vacation.  I'm free to do whatever I want, wherever I want."   I guess that's what she thought NCL meant by Free Style Cruising! 😲

Ugh! We had a guy do this in Spice H20 on the escape. He was putting his clipped toenails in the ashtray!

  10. I think the problem is that if you have a vaccine, you can still carry the virus and infect those that choose not to vaccinate. I got my first dose last week, but if someone else cruises unvaccinated, I can still carry it home. But by 2022, my loved ones will.be vaccinated so it won't be a moral.issue for me. Not sure what the situation for the non US ports and vaccination is....

  11. Picture it...last night of our honeymoon cruise, Princess ship, 2005. We saw a lady win $1200. We sit 2 machines down from her and play. Win 1100. Now there is a wait to get paid because they are helping the lady so we pop across the aisle. Black and White double jackpot machine. 5000 hit. Now the martinis are flowing and I am playing nickel machines. 600, 800, they keep coming. Hubby has to pour me into bed! He has to go back to the casino because he had about 1000 in chip from craps! That was by far the most profitable casino cruise night ever. On the way home, we found out the waitress (we stopped getting receipts because we had her all well...stupid I know) had double charged us for every drink that night, even though we tipped her every round and extra on jackpots. Cruise line refunded us for every drink we had that day.

On the Gem, I got 763 free spins on the Rio machine. I won 800ish. Took almost the whole afternoon to get through that bonus game!

We have final payment 12/20 for a 2/21/2021 cruise.  Not sure what to do, I really want to go on the cruise... but I think reality is going to force me to cancel. Sad, it's a nice haven spa suite with a casino rate.

We had 3/37/21 booked through the casino, moved it to 3/30/22 and got comped a better room so you may luck out.

  13. I feel like it wouldn't be unreasonable to refund shortly after what was supposed to be the last day of the cancelled cruises...we were supposed to cruise 4/9-4/19, it was cancelled in March and we had to wait almost 2 weeks before we could even request a refund.Holding the money beyond the cruise date seems unfair, and I won't be rebooking until my postponed surgery is done (who knows when hospitals will be back to non critical levels) so an FCC is useless. The prices for next year's possible cruise went up 1200 pp since the beginning of March. I know this pandemic was not something the lines could have planned for, but 90 days in addition to the week and a half we had to wait before we could even file a request is not great business...
