  1. Same here..this summer’s Alaskan Cruise on the Bliss cancelled and rebooked for next summer (fingers crossed) on the Encore in order to visit Glacier Bay. I will however miss the entertainment offered on the Bliss vs the Encore. BUT NOT TO COMPLAIN...to be able to return to cruising will be wonderful.

  2. NCL emailed me with FCC for only half of what was paid for (actual cost per person with no add ons) our cancelled Alaskan Cruise plus the 20% of THAT amount. My account on the NCL website reflects this also. There is no refund for the second quest!  Has anyone else experienced this? I was under the assumption that there would be 100% of the cost the bonus.

  4. While I sail on Celebrity, RC (upcoming  Symphony) and NCL, I’ve taken the family on both Disney Dream and Fantasy. The grandkids were in the same age group as yours are when on the Fantasy, a little younger when on the Dream.  The service exceeds any I’ve ever experienced on any cruise line that I’ve sailed, however you do pay a premium price for it. The children’s club is fantastic! Disney is about kids....so there are lots and lots of kids everywhere . Disney characters and Princesses through out the ship is a sight for any age especially all the Star Wars characters  on SWDAS. And  Disney’s entertainment (shows) is amazing. Should you decided to sail Disney I highly recommend Star Wars Day at Seas on the Fantasy even if your children are not big fans. It was an experience that all in my family will never forget. My opinion for what it’s worth is that your children are at a good age for Disney as were mine, so if you are considering this option perhaps now might be a good time. I’ve read many reviews about the RC kids’ activities which all are very good. My Grandkids are now a couple of years older and were on the Allure last year and did not want to join the kids’ club. They grow up fast.

  5. Just got off the phone with a reservation consultant and  inquired about the UBP buy one 50% off the  2nd.  I was informed that the currant no sale price with 18% gratuity is now over $80 per person per day  therefore the BOGO 50% off  takes the total for 2 to $859 (including gratuity) on the Synphony. I’ll have to do the math.

Surely it is time to do away with the Robotic Bar and replace it with a Celebrity style Martini Bar The Robo Bar is a novelty first time you see it, but it is too slow if you actually want a drink. The Ice Top martini bar is always a great place to “Chill” with friends

I’ve not sailed with RC for a number of years (will be on Symphony in March)  but always enjoyed the Martini Bar on Celebrity. So I do agree with this post.....”always a great place to chill with friends”.

  7. Hi Melanie (MrMrsSteelman) and welcome to the boards. (I’ve recently departed from Detroit and cruised NCL Getaway). Upon a suggestion from my Daughter of a less expensive flight, I flew into FLL on the day before embarkation in Miami. The ride to the port (Lyft) was not too long. You stated that you’d like to see the ships therefore than by all means stay in a hotel near the port. Regardless of where you choose to stay try to get in at a time where you can enjoy the pre-cruise day so check what is near the hotel you choose. With my upcoming cruise I’m flying into Miami and staying for the first time at the Hampton Inn Brickell area a popular choice on the boards (husband wasn’t happy with the travel back and forth to FLL). Yep, the planning for your first cruise can be a bit overwhelming, so the cruise critic boards will give you many answers to your many questions. “John in DC” is a plethora of knowledge and also Keith. Enjoy all you do...even the planning. I find that it may help to make the anticipation of the upcoming cruise even more exciting.
