  1. I used a TA , so NCL would not let me get any transfers with them unless I booked the hotel.

They told my TA that all NCL hotels were booked.. So that meant to NCL Transfers for me. I think they save the hotels for their direct customer after they reach a percentage..

  2. I went on the travel tourism site. Listed below. You can use them to get from the Ravenna train station to the Port...

    https://www.turismo.ra.it/en/useful-services/shuttle-bus-ravenna-porto-corsini-cruise-terminal/

    Train from Venice to Ravenna

Trenitalia has an app for the train times. Make sure to change the time to about 5am, so you can see the full list of time. If not, it will default to your current time and you will miss seeing the earlier times

Booking early is better to save money.

Better to get to Ravenna early then playing it close with getting on the port.

  3. I am set to sail from Oct 10-19. Ravenna to Athens Cruise

Flying into Venice on Oct 9th and leaving Athens on the 23rd.

I was thinking of changing my flight to land in Venice on the 8th in the morning and leave Athens on the 20th. .

That will give me the 2 days in Venice and basically no days in Athens.

I forgot to mention. I will have 2 days in Ravenna. The Ship is staying overnight.

My question is.... Do you think I should stay in Athens until the 23rd?  4 days is a lot of days to me.

But then again this is my first Cruise in this country.. So what do I know.. I am here to ask the experts. :-)

Just wanted some feedback...Its going to be a busy week with so many ports.

    Thank you again.

  4. What are your plans for transportation since the port has changed to Ravenna for the first 2 days?

How are you getting to Ravenna?

The Italiarail is reaching Ravenna to late, so that isn't an option..

    Any suggestion.

I see some people taking the train to Bologna (hour ride) then a private ride to Ravenna

I am not flying in the same day and the NCL hotels are sold out per my TA.. So I cant buy the hotel with transportation package.

Since I am flying in after, I cant get the transportation alone.

  5. Where did you catch the trolley at? Was there a map?

I took it in front of this place that had a Map of old San Juan and a wall in the back of it. We exited the ship and made a right. But the trolly went right back to where the ship was. So I come have stayed over there and took the trolly as well.

    We went to both forts.

  6. Question - We will not be purchasing the Cheers package and my husband and I plan on carrying on our bottle of wine each, but after that, does Carnival offer any type of wine special? When we sailed NCL (before the "free" beverage package was so abundant), there was a deal if you bought 4, 6, or 8 bottles of wine. Anything similar on Carnival?

21 and over can bring a bottle of Wine.

I did not get the cheers package and I only purchased 2 alcoholic drinks. I was so busy being involved in different activities I didn’t miss not getting an alcoholic drink. I’m so glad I didn’t get the cheers. I got the beverage package for my kids.

  7. @Sweets2323: I have a tour booked for St. Maarten for $25 if 30 people go otherwise $30 for a 4 hour tour with Speks Tours. I'm second guessing myself because of the reviews and it is an enclosed bus.

In st Maarten I didn’t see open safari buses.

I had a taxi that looked like a church van.. since it was only 6 of us we were able to move around as much as we wanted. We paid $30 pp.

Now for st kitts i recommend the open tour safari bus.

  8. I say if you enjoy it and you have the budget do it!!! You are on vacation...I say on vacation normal rules don't apply ;-) !!!!!!

I meant wait to purchase the spa treatment while on the ship because it’s less. That’s what we did. I purchased the $169 special with my $50 off gift card that was delivered to my room. I paid $119 plus 15% gratuity.

Also the last two days it dropped to $99.

  9. Did you prearranged the private van or find one at the pier and negotiate the price?

In St. Maarten there was no negotiation with the taxi prices. The prices are printed on the board. As you walk up the operators are there and the taxis are lined up in the curb. And they pull up in order.

I found one at the pier/port.

When I walked out of the ship, the only people i saw were pre booked tours with signs.

Once I walked inside the port, there were no one hanging around like most ports. Very very quiet... then I walked to the side and I found the taxi set up.

I asked the taxi why is it set up this way, he mentioned that is set up this way to protect the tourist from being scammed etc.

  10. ******Just an FYI******

If you are going to St. MAARTIN, the only tour you can get at the port is a taxi tour.

St MAARTIN was very regulated. If you want any excursions Please pre book or book with the cruise line for st MAARTIN

There was absolutely no one waiting around with signs inside the port.

Prebook island tours and excursions were the only people waiting NEXT to the ship as you walked out with signs.

Once you enter the port, there will be NO companies walking around at all.

We decided to take a taxi tour for $30 a person in a closed van. We walked to the end of the port where there was a line of taxis and the prices were on the board. No negotiation. Set prices.

We did the private tour so we paid $30 instead of $25 (we didn’t share the van because it was closed in and we wanted room). There was six of us.

I was surprised not seeing anyone waking around inside the port.

The taxi tour i think is still less than paying on the ship/

The tour was nice and we went to many places. I’ll post pix later. I just got off the ship Sunday

  11. ****FYI*****

If you’re also stopping in st Maartin please prebook. Unless you want to do a taxi tour in a closed in van like what we did.

It’s different than St Kitts. Island is get regulated and taxi prices are set.

I’ll leave a review on the other forum.

***No need to pre book in St kitts if you don’t want too***
