I can't recall seeing any guides for the island.  You could work with a taxi for a guided tour perhaps.  The entire Island is 7 miles end to end, with a good hunk being beaches.  We covered most of it in 2 hours with a golf cart.

Did you rent the golf cart prior to cruising?  Did they have seatbelts (we will have our 4 year old grandson)?  Did you see the stingrays while you were out and about, or did you simply ride around?

  2. Carnival Vista transatlantic

    Tour with Lisa RINGELBERG

Wonderful, informative tour with home cooked "farm house" lunch served with wine. I would recommend her without hesitation. She was highly rated on TRIP ADVISOR and almost 50 of us got together to take her excursion. We were in four groups and her guides are excellent. I was in Lisa's van and it was a very comfortable, clean van. She was a delight.

  3. One of our threads was closed.

This is where the vans will meet.

I will also try to get an email list from Lisa to make sure everyone gets this info.

    This is from Lisa:

I already posted the groups last week.

The large vans 1 and 2 meet in the top parking lot and the 2 smaller vans go through the terminal and look for the guides as they come out. I have given the guides names for each van. I also talked about disembarking as soon as the ship lands so that we can leave right away.

PLEASE BE PROMPT IN GETTING OFF THE SHIP SO WE CAN ENJOY THIS DAY TOGETHER

  4. 100% sure. Rccl refunded my 20.00 and THEY found it in warehouse a few days after airline couldn't find it. Airline showed they had it because of luggage tag number issued at midnight, but luggage was never given to them. It was taken off ship, but stayed in warehouse. It was sent back via UPS (or fedex), not via airlines

  5. Well someone has to take the bullet. Marc and I will be Guinea Pigs and see what it is all about. I love traditional balconies and listening to the waves at night - but we want to try something different. This is our first TA , but I have been on almost 30 cruises. It is a dirty job, but someone has to write reviews and warn the others! My only worry is that I will put my butt in the hammock and not leave for the rest of the day.

  6. I know this is early, but I just booked our first excursion. Anyone that books this in advance will be assured of getting the current price. They have not increased rates in 3 years and WILL be raising prices.

Lisa Reingelberg is well known via Travel Advisor. You must do your own research, I am not giving a referral, but I am inviting you to join us! First van will have Lisa as our guide, 8 people. Additional van will have other guides.

If you are interested post here or message me!

I figured if I can book a cruise 18 months in advance, why not reserve an excursion that we want?

tour will begin with a trip to a pineapple plantation just outside of Ponta Delgada, then along the south coast, to Villa Franca, a small village along the way with stops at several viewpoints. Once we arrive in Furnas, a stop will be made at the Furnas Lake and then into the village to see the hot springs. We will also go into the Terra Nostra Botanical Garden. If you wish, you can take a swim in the warm water pool inside the park. We will travel back along the North shore so that you can see some different sites along the way, including the tea plantation and a stop in Ribeira Grande at the liqueur factory where you can taste the local liqueurs. After the tour a "farm lunch will be offered for those who wish to experience a home-cooked full Portuguese meal including appetizers of local cheeses, sausage and fresh pineapple grown on the island. The main courses will be a fish and meat dish with local vegetables and salads and a typical Portuguese dessert. Local wines and water will also be included in the meal. Total time of tour approximately 5 hours depending on how much time is spent in the garden. Total price of 70 euros per person includes lunch.

All tours include pick up and drop off at the Port and the necessary entrance fees to gardens and reserve parks. We will arrive approximately one hour before ship departure and will leave as soon as the group assembles. Each individual van will leave on their own and will travel independently unless otherwise requested.
