  1. It seems to me that the problems arise not from people that identify not as English, Welsh, Scots or Irish, but as British. It seems to be exacerbated by Brexit, but affects particularly organisations that sell on their Britishness. Unfortunately this affects P&O along with less savoury organisations.

  2. Hurtigruten have various sailings with flights included from various British airports next winter. We have booked on the February cruise with inclusive flights from Glasgow next February. Depending on where you are, there may be a convenient flight inclusive sailing for you. If you check the Hurtigruten website and check their offers you will hopefully find one that suits your dates. If it’s the Glasgow flight, please say hello!

  3. We were able to do the tea plantation tour as we arrived in Sri Lanka on 17th October, stayed overnight on Boudicca, and flew home on 18th October (Fred. Olsen charter flight). I am sure there will be tours available en route to the airport, but they will probably just be around Colombo. Your tour book should arrive soon.

  4. We were on Fred’s Authentic India cruise flying back from Colombo to Manchester on 18th October. Had an overnight in Colombo and did the Tea Plantation tour (highly recommended) on an electronic transit ETA with no problems. Sri Lanka is much less bureaucratic than India.

  5. What about the zip line? :)

What’s wrong with zip lines? Quicker than tenders when transferring from ship to shore!

Back on topic, the reason for no formal nights on short cruises could just be to save passengers having to take a large amount of luggage for just a few days holiday.

  6. There are a number of ships that would be suitable for Fred. For example, the Ex Renaissance class ships, and ships that the luxury cruise lines. will be replacing in the future. However, given that Fred. have announced their Captains in Funchal cruises in 2020, nothing is likely to happen in the near future. We are trying Cruise & Maritime for the first time this year, and will be interested to see whether Fred.s much higher prices are justified.

  7. We are booked on the Braemar on 18th January. I think the only port at risk may be Tortola. I thought that the final decision would have been made by now, but they are presumably giving as much time as possible for the ports to be available.

Personally, I would be happy for more time in Cuba, if it was possible.

Whatever happens, it should be a good cruise. It's our first time on Braemar. We are usually on Boudicca or Black Watch.
