Only Trenitalia services the route between Civitavecchia and the airport.

This trip requires a change, usually at Roma Trastevere.

Assuming you are on a transatlantic flight, you'll need to be at the airport no later than 11:15 AM.

The last connection that would accomplish this departs Civitavecchia at 9:43 and arrives to the airport at 11:16, after a change at Trastevere.

To be safe, I would take an earlier train, the 9:07 arriving to the airport at 10:48 leaves you plenty of room for error.

If you're up and out earlier there's also a train at 8:42 arriving to the airport at 10:18.

All of these trains are regionales, so there are no seat assignments and the train cannot sell out.  They will be crowded.

When using the Trenitalia web site, even on the English language pages you must enter the station names in Italian.  In this case your stations are Civitavecchia and Fiumicino Aeroporto.

Thank you very much for this info, I was getting overwhelmed with all the different trains. I feel better knowing I was on the right track 😉

  2. I've been searching for awhile and maybe it's because I'm at the end of our planning stages, but I am hoping to get an answer here as my searches are just causing me grief! I am trying to figure out how to get to the airport at the end of our cruise using the trains. Our flight leaves at 2:15 so we have no play time unfortunately. Can someone guide me to the correct sites to book the correct trains to get us there? Thanks in advance.

So you do have some choices.  But given the short time in port you might want to simply walk over to the city's own beach (Plage Saint-Francois) which is within walking distance of the pier (towards your left).  You should take some towels since I do not recall seeing lounge rentals.   There are also quite a few cafes/restaurants between the port and that beach.  When we were most recently in Ajaccio (April) the moules et frites were wonderful :).  But in April there is no way anyone was heading to the beach.

Thanks. Since we are the only ship in port that day, it shouldn't be too crowded then 😉

Does anyone else find their Personal Cruise Consultant really hard to work with? I’m not going to give names but mine never answers my calls, barely ever calls back (if they do it’s when I can’t answer the phone due to work), and overall is not very helpful. I try to call the generic NCL phone number but they always end up diverting my call to my Personal Cruise Consultant even though I ask to talk to someone else..

I have not had this issue with any other cruise line in the past.

Any tips or has anyone gotten their Personal Cruise Consultant changed before?

We are having a hell of a time right now. We are trying to get our FCC from the Escape applied and all they keep doing is making our cruise fare lower but not equal to the credit. We have made many attempts to get a new person but to no avail. Once this situation is figured out and this cruise is done we will probably not use NCL again. Sick of the horrible customer service. Sailed many times with many cruise lines and NEVER had this experience.

  5. Let me start off by saying that we are familiar with all forms of travel and have cruised on several different lines. We are pretty relaxed traveller and have an easy going attitude towards those travelling plans. We know that there are times when things don't always go as planned and that is to be expected when travelling anywhere. We were actually on the Escape when it was grounded in the Dominican recently and thought that Norwegian did a pretty good job handling that situation. The communication broke down with getting everyone on an airplane, but I'm not sure that was Norwegian's doing per se. Having said that, we have been trying to use our FCC to book another cruise for the summer, as I work in education and the only time I can go would be the summer. At first, the people that I talked to assured me that the credit was indeed in my Latitudes account, even though I could not see it there. We were getting quotes for different scenarios of a particular cruise. Since we did that, we have not been able to get the proper price according to what we were originally told we would be getting. The initial people that take our call are quite pleasant and polite. It is when they transfer us to the "Cruise Specialists" that they become rude and impatient with us. They don't even listen to what we are trying to tell them in regards to our situation. They interrupt us when we explain what is happening. I have never been so disheartened with using a service as I am with the Cruise Specialists for Norwegian. Once this credit is used we will probably never sail with them again.

I’m going on a B2B on the Joy starting March 19. I’ll let you know if I have any problems.

Sounds good, we will be on board next week, I'll let everyone know once we are back if there were issues. We are driving across the border and flying domestic within the states so it may work out differently. We are optimistic though 😉

  7. Also another question I thought of is what kind of test is it? Since Canada has specific requirements for types of tests allowed, does anyone know what kind of test they offer? Has anyone come back from a NCL cruise using the rapid tests done by the ship and had no problems or did have problems? Thanks, just want to be sure we are doing what we. are supposed to do.

  8. I know this topic has been extensively exhausted, but I am finding that these questions are specific to each person's situation. We have quite a few hours to wait for our flight post cruise and need to get a COVID test to get back into Canada. We were hoping to find a place close to the terminal relatively cheap and then walk around a bit to explore while we wait for the results. Are there any malls with testing sites in them or something along those lines? Thanks in advance.
