How many dire predictions of the end of cruising was there after the Costa Concordia, and how long did it take for Costa to fill their ships again?  People have short memories, especially in today's instant news culture.

    Good Morning.
I’ve always enjoyed reading your insightful posts as you truly have knowledge.
However on this, I respectfully disagree.

We’ve all witnessed the heartbreaking news from passengers quarantined on cruise ships, we’ve seen life come to a grinding halt.

I’m a New Yorker living in the current Epicenter. I lost my job 3 weeks ago.
We’re all living a bad dream.

The Costa Concordia was a single tragedy that effected those passengers and their loved ones only.

This virus has wreaked havoc on a global scale and we are forever changed as a result.

I have no doubt some cruise lines will be bankrupt over this.

Wishing everyone good health and Godspeed.

Royal is always trying to enhance our cruise experience!

I disagree! The statement that they are looking to enhance the cruise experience means you would be offering that enhancement at the time you are taking away what clients are expecting. Total BS. It's a cost cutting measure and very poor business decision to not grandfather those already booked under that premise.

I just got my first shingles shot last month.   Several people we knew came down with shingles, and I put myself on a waiting list for the shot.  As others indicated, they said shingles was extremely painful.

The shingles are very painful and the residual pain can last for months.

When I was was 5, 6 or 7 in the early 50s I had the measles many times.   I think at the time there were  different strains such as 3 day, 7 day, German  and etc. and once you had it  you became immuned to  that strain.  It was almost considered a passage of growing up along with getting the mumps, and chickenpox.   I don’t remember  it having any effect  except for being spotted with tiny red dots and not being able to go to school and laying in bed with no lights on.      I don’t ever remember getting vaccinated for it.  The only vaccinations I ever remember was for smallpox and polio.    I am over 70 and still have the scar from the one for smallpox.

Now there are vaccinations for the flu, whooping cough, shingles, tetanus, and whatever else the drug companies can come up with to get more  money from us.

For some reason they haven’t  come up with one for the  Noro,  except to use common sense by washing your hand frequently and being considered of the other passengers by using good hygiene and not doing all the other stuff you do or don't at home.

    Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

Are you kidding me? “Whatever the drug companies can come up

    with”

You are certainly old enough to recall iron lungs. Are you saying the polio vaccine was “something” to simply make money from? Shame on you!!!! 😡

I’ve had the measles, German measles, mumps and chicken pox. No walk in the park and I escaped pneumonia, encephalitis, blindness and death.

I have two friends that are organ donor recipients that would die if they were exposed to these childhood illnesses at this point in their lives. What about babies that are too young to be vaccinated?

Please don’t lump Noro into that group of deadly diseases.

Please educate yourself. I wish you good health and a lovely day.

  5. If your husband’s balance is not good, I would be far more concerned about walking through the Ephesus site.

Keep in mind that it’s an excavation sight that’s thousands of years old. The stone paths are uneven.

The Terrace Houses inside Ephesus require climbing up

    and down stairs.

I recommend googling photos and viewing YouTube videos of Ephesus.

It may not be a good choice for your husband.

Bucket list visit for my husband. We've booked a Holland America 2020 cruise that goes to Kusadasi & then to Istanbul overnight. Hoping everything stays peaceful, as we cancelled one cruise a few years ago based upon the unrest in the region.

You will absolutely love it!!! I would return in a heart beat. Make sure you visit the Terrace Houses ( there’s an additional fee) when you visit Ephesus.

How are we to know the passenger died, let alone express sympathy for it, as it was not mentioned as a death but as a medical emergency in the posts above your comment.

Mcatmcat, with an individual leaving the ship they would have also had to wait upon other things such as getting their travelling companions gathered and informed of the situation, a time of greaving and notifying family, departing guests emptying their cabins of items, clearing customs when disembarking, maybe a new sailing manifest (?) and in this case the possibility of a police inspection to confirm that nothing nefarious occurred to cause their death. There’s most likely more things but these are the first that come to mind.

Hopefully that helps to explain the delay in departure.

I’m on a FB cruise group and it was reported that the passenger died.

Could be someone on a B2B who didn’t want to move , happens or oversold GS GTYs , happens .

    Didn’t they offer you a sweetener ? OBC ? .

Looks like one of our cruises is full but we are not likely to get a phone call as we have an inside cabin , 😆.

They have some nerve asking a passenger to downgrade. Doesn’t matter the reason. 😡

I dont get it, if its a medical emergency why hold the hold ship for just one person.  I dont know how the system works but do they wait for the passenger to be ok  while they are treating him/her?

Wow!!! Nothing like showing some sympathy. The passenger died.

While you can run into grossly overweight people everywhere, there seems to be a far higher percentage on cruise ships.  Perhaps it is because they find cruising the easiest way to travel, but I am inclined to think the unlimited food tends to attract obsessive eaters.

Our last cruise on Anthem a few weeks ago really saddened me. There were so many obese people that were riding scooters and many appeared to be in their 20’s or 30’s.

My heart aches for them. 😔

    Ok, back on topic.

So, does anyone really think the amount of fake service dogs will decrease once all the grandfathered ESA's go through the system?

Pretty sure folks will still pass off pets as service animals, and probably get away with it

If it’s deemed that anyone passes off a pet as a service animal, the passenger should be banned for life.

    By the way...…………..

Over time, when this "gentleman" was asked by other passengers what his dog did, his answer varied.  I guess he finally settled on the "blood pressure" explanation.  I was told by someone on the Anthem that he now has a sign on his wheeled carrier that says, "Don't ask me about the dog".  😮

Oh my goodness! I believe I saw this man and his dog a few weeks ago on Anthem in the Solarium.

He was being pulled in a little red wagon with a license plate that reads “Tommy”.

On the side of the wagon there was a typed paper that read:

My name is Tommy and I’m a service dog.

Please don’t try to pet me or talk to me.

Don’t ask where I poop or pee.

Don’t ask how much I paid for the cruise.

Being naive, I assumed the dog was truly a service dog. My husband and I went up to the owner and asked to take Tommy’s picture which he said was fine. Unfortunately, my husband deleted the photo but I did ask the man and he said Tommy is a chihuahua mix.

I spoke to the man for only a few minutes and mentioned that my cousin just rec’d a service dog as her sight is failing and how amazing these service dogs are.

I didn’t ask what ailed him but he did touch his chest as an indicator so I assumed he had a heart condition.

If this is indeed the same man, I really feel like an idiot. I fell for it hook, line and sinker. I wished him and Tommy many more years of good health.
