Well I can remember the coast guard saying no to those ships coming into florida, and trump overrode their order. Never say never is my motto in life. I'm just watching things unfold.

Dallas has high import from calif and turned Democrat and voted to extend stay at home to mid mid, along came the governor who said open on may 1st. Sometimes orders seem set in stone, under someone changes them.

    I'm just waiting and watching.

Tell you what, I will bet a bottle of johnny walker blue with you that you won't sail in October.  Your just doing wishful thinking.  So is Carnival.

Again this is your opinion, not a fact. Everyone is entitled to express opinions. The problem is some cross the line and state opinions as if they are facts. Our news community has moved to that direction so maybe younger folks cant tell facts from opinions.

Dont become a stock trader. You cant be risk adverse and do some things I've done. Everyone has a different tolerance for risk.

As I said above if my october cruise is cancelled I'll move it, no harm done.

Btw I just read this virus is the type with high mutate probability which means like the flu a vaccine is highly unlikely to be 100% effective. Already the strain in calif which came from Asia shows difference from the virus that hit nyc which came from Europe, and is expected to continue to mutate. If you are that risk adverse, you will be locked at home forever.

No, it is not an opinion.  It comes from years working in the government.  Whether a cruise ship sails or not is up to the federal government.  I am sorry if the facts don't align to your wishes, but it is a fact.  There are multiple government agencies in play when it comes to ports.  Each of them can shut down a ship from sailing.  Fact, there is no vaccine until January.  Fact, there is no current effective treatment that has passed clinical trials and has been peer reviewed among the medical community.  Fact, there has yet to be one state that has seen a declined in cases over fourteen days.  Fact, the no sail order has been extended twice.  Fact, none of the conditions which affected the cruise ships earlier has changed.  Until those facts are addressed, you aren't sailing, period.  Also, it isn't about being risked adversed.  I already had the illness.  It is about consideration for others and doing your part for the community.  It isn't about your needs and your own desires.

I'm willing to go without one. Cruises booked oct on carnival and jan and b2b on rcl next april.

If it gets cancelled in october I'll move it to fall 2021, nothing lost.

Imo people are going to learn to live with the virus. No vaccine is 100% effective, it's not the end all be all some say. They never found a vaccine for HIV but life went on, with more careful sex, now life in the future will be more social distancing and maybe masks on cruises.

History will tell us who is right, no one knows right now, even if you say something as if it's a fact, it's still your opinion. I personally dont think ccl will wait for a vaccine to start up.

The thing is that it is not up to you on a vaccine.  It is up to the CDC and the Coast Guard.  The CDC's website has already stated that no sailings will occur until the pandemic is controlled via either a treatment or vaccine.  Bottom line is no sailings until there is a vaccine.

If the cruise industry has to wait on a vaccine, they will all go bankrupt.  It could be years before a vaccine is available if ever.

So based on your opinion, are you not going to Walmart, Bucees, sporting events, etc... until there is a vaccine?

They very well may go bankrupt.  It isn't up to me on letting them sail.  It is up to the CDC and USCG.  They won't let them sail until there is a vaccine.

  5. The amount of self denial and wishful thinking astounds me.  The reasons for previous cruise ships being refused docking and the spread of the disease on those ships have not changed.  The earliest a vaccine will be available is sometime in January of next year.  Until then, any cruises or cruise announcements from Carnival is just wishful thinking.  Save your money and don't invest in any cruises until you know there is a vaccine or effective treatment.  Otherwise, Carnival will give you the standard line of future cruise credits and OBCs.  They are now hard up for liquidity in cash and it will take months before they refund you your money.  As a person stated earlier, Carnival will take your booking money because it is an interest free loan for them.  They know that there will not be any cruises until there is a vaccine.  This press release of limited cruising in August is just wishful thinking.  It is not going to happen.  And no, I am not afraid of being sick as I already have had it.  It wasn't a pleasant experience I can tell you.  Also, I personally know six people who have died from this illness.  It is very serious and very real.

I thought I read a article that said on the beginning cruises they would not have anyone in inside cabins.  Does anyone else recall this?  We have 2 insides on the Horizon on aug 22 and final payment is quickly coming up.

The bottom line is if there is no vaccine or effective treatment by the time of your final payment, I would cancel your cruise.  You don't want to be stuck in an inside cabin for weeks like the passengers on the Pacific Princess, should there be an outbreak on board.  If so, they won't allow you to offboard and you will be stuck aboard the ship.

I have a feeling that most of the Caribbean countries are going to be screaming for cruise ships to return sooner than August.  Some of those places depend on the cruise industry for their local economy.  The official CDC order expires on July 24, if I remember correctly.

And I expect another order extending it.  Until there is a vaccine or effective treatment, the USCG and CDC won't be allowing sailings from US ports.  Also, while these countries need the cruise money, they also can't afford to deal with a full blown outbreak on their islands.
