  1. It is sad that us solo cruisers have to conive to sail. Others cruise lines don’t seem to have problems with single cruisers. They just charge double and that’s it. I would do that on MSC but I definitely won’t do a ghost passenger. If you ever have had to deal with their customers service you would understand.  You may get one to refund the second port charges and taxes and another will tell you they can’t do that.  FYI. Refunds are done 45-60 days after the sailing after numerous phone calls. It’s a shame MSC treats us like this.  I really wanted to sail on the Seashore but I can’t book months in advance.

  2. I’ve been on 34 cruises and a diamond member with MSC. I just tried to book on the Seashore and was told no more solo cruisers for the date I wanted.  I even was willing to pay the normal

cruise line 100% up charge. I was told there must be two people in the room.  What is wrong with this world or am I just missing something.

  3. Just called MSC to book a cruise for myself on very short notice. I was told you can’t book for one person anymore that you must have two people. If the second doesn’t show up they will reimburse the fees and taxes.  No way is that happening. The last time I had to get a refund it took three months from the sail date and they still sent it to the wrong person. Guess I’m done with MSC. Going to call one of their affiliates to see if I get same answer. How dumb!

  4. I cruise two or three times a year so I check the cruise lines and other sites almost daily.  I heard that we don’t have as many ships or cruise lines here compared to Fort Lauderdale and Miami so it is supply and demand. Disney takes up a few of our terminals. We are getting a mega terminal next year for Carnival Mardi Gra and our port is growing.  I do grab a fairly good deal at times but nothing compared to the FL and Miami ports.  They even have low single supplements at those ports. No more here at PC. Used to, but no more.  But I will continue my happy cruising. Thanks for your comments.

  5. Yes I can do that. I am a single senior cruiser and it would be much better for me to go to Port Canaveral since I live 15 minutes away. I was just wondering if anyone knew why the price is so different. Just being curious. I realize there are always other options. Thanks CruiserBruce. Your explanations make sense.

  6. Thanks for all the responses. I even called in to Royal and got the same response. Book a no show. What about a passport number? Did NCL Epic studio room. It was fun. I booked on NCL Spirit that had no single rooms and they only charged me a small supplement. NCL not in Port Canaveral right now. Really hate to have to drive all the way to Miami when I am very close to Canaveral. But it may be what I have to do in the future.

  7. Was looking to book cruise for myself at a interior rate of $499. When I selected single passenger the rate went to $1691!!!!! And that is just the room. No taxes and fees! Come on RCCL. I expected to pay double but over three times the cost??.? That is just not right. You can put kids in the room for free. One of the consultants actually told me to make up a person as a second quest and when they don't show up no problem. Trying to send me to jail for making up a phoney passport number?

Well needless to say I booked a cruise on Carnival. This is number 20 for me and I will not go,back to RCCL.

  8. Wow! Jeans, no jean, jeans no jeans. I thought the world was changing. We try no longer to discriminate on race and religion. What's up with judging people on what kind of material their clothes are made of. I don't hear anything being mentioned about not enough material in their clothes to barely cover essential parts. And believe me, on all the cruises I have been on, they stand out more than someone in a nice pair of denim pants, aka 'jeans' . Just also remember, not all people that dress in their favorite formal attire look good either. Look at the red carpet in Hollywood!

  9. I am traveling with two other people but staying in a room alone. Drink packages say that all persons in your cabin or "traveling with" must buy drink packages if I do. I am looking at the 14 coupon beer package or the 12 coupon cocktail package. Does it apply to all packages or just the all-inclusive ones? Thanks. This is the first time I am maybe going to try one of the drink packages. Thanks.
