  1. Bus 27 or cruise shuttle from Østerport station sløjfen will be my bet guess.

I´m not so sure about getting a taxi at Nordhavn because I can´t remember to have seen one the times I have used that station.

If you are gonna get a taxi then Nørreport is a better place to get a taxi, because there are plenty of them and its closer to the port compared to the central station.

Østerport is also a place where plenty of taxies pass by.

But remember that the busses stops at the backside of the station at sløjfen (see my guide with pictures a few pages back) and taxies stops at the front of the station.

But to clarify, both bus 27 and the cruise shuttles has plenty of departures from Østerport station, sløjfen.

    Tusind tak!

  2. Danish Viking,

I hope you can help, I'm so confused!

I have a ticket through Central Station to arrive at Nordhavn Station at 13:47 on June 5th, which is a public holiday.

I need to board a ship at Oceankaj, which leaves at 17:00 and I'm supposed to be on board at least 2 hours before departure.

What is the best way to get from either Central Station or Nordhavn Station at this time of day on a public holiday? Can I count on there being taxis at Nordhavn, or is there a better way?

    Thank you for any help!

  3. I hate how they beat the term "cruise vacation" to death. If just seems so forced and contrived like if you associate the term "cruise" with "vacation" you'll be more likely to take another "cruise vacation" very soon.

I also hate seeing the way people waste food. That "I paid for it, so I'm free to waste it" attitude is tacky.

  4. I think it's more of an ugly American thing to not eat in the local style.

Really? Choosing to eat according to my ethical beliefs makes me an "ugly American"?

I'm an American expat vegetarian living in Scandinavia. Most "local" menus rely heavily on fish and pork, in order to eat in those restaurants, I'd have to ask for something off menu, so I choose to dine at places that offer things I can actually eat.

You'd have a point if you were talking about traveling companions who insisted on eating McDonald's, Subway, etc. But when it comes to people maintaining their ethical beliefs while traveling, your statement just comes across as ignorant and rude.

  5. I hate to break it to you... but that's what kids like. They don't want gourmet cheeses or fancy breads. In fact my 5 year old would likely turn it down if it wasn't just good old rubbery american cheese on toasted bread. Kids don't have great palets and when I do make fancy foods they are wasted on him. He'd rather have easy mac than a homemade mac and cheese with 3 kinds of cheese in it and real cream (I know this because I've served him both).

Do you just follow me around the boards to nitpick my posts?

Actually, those fake cheese slices aren't too bad in grilled cheese when they're actually warm and melted. I wasn't expecting aged sharp cheese on whole grain bread, but at minimum I'd expect a grilled cheese to be grilled/toasted, the cheese melted, and served warm.

Based on the Carnival Mac & Cheese thread, it seems that more than one kid seems enjoy the dish, which is made with 5 kinds of cheese including brie.

Your kids might not have great palates, that doesn't mean all kids don't have great palates, I know plenty who do.

  6. Grilled cheese and mac & cheese on RCI. One night, nothing appealed to me on the MDR menu, so I thought I'd try the kids menu. Living in Europe, it had been a long time since I had grilled cheese or mac & cheese, so I was pretty excited about it.

The grilled cheese arrived cold and it was triple decker style and made with those rubbery imitation cheese slices and barely melted with no buttery outside or toasting to speak of.

The mac & cheese was rubbery and flavorless, I'm pretty sure it was Easy Mac. After reading the thread about the Carnival mac & cheese recipe, I was expecting something good, but it was disgusting.

I ended up in Windjammer that night with yet another salad.

  7. This is a funny thread for me because I moved to Scandinavia last year and have made friends from all over the world. One afternoon at the beach, my French friend said, "can I ask you something about the US?" And I figured he was going to ask me about the infamous Freedom Fries and Freedom Toast or something similar, but nope! He wanted to know if most places in the US really had "all you can drink" soda.

Then he wanted to know if most people had more than one, how big the cups were, and why anyone would want to drink that much soda...lol! I can only imagine what he'd be thinking about someone ordering 12 lobster tails...

  8. As a vegetarian, I'm grateful for Indian food. It's nice to not have to face plate after plate of pasta.

I think hot dogs, burgers, and carving stations are disgusting, so I just keep on walking and don't think about it.

There are so many other food options, why does the Indian food bug you so much? It's not like it's the only thing on offer.
