  1. This is a cruise I booked three years ago but because of COVID it was cancelled. I finally found a cruise that just does the Chilean fjords on Seabourn’s new expedition ship leaving from Buenos Aires to Santiago which is what we wanted so we booked it. Everything I have read says it is amazing and the scenery is spectacular. But we have not done it so hopefully someone will give us more information.

  2. Has anyone been able to use OBC for pre or post trip excursions. Going on an expedition cruise since excursions are included I want to use it towards a pre trip excursion and transfers. but have been told it is only for use while on board.

  3. Thanks everyone. We were all packed up and waiting for our driver to pick us up and take us to the airport to fly to Lima and then catch a plane to Guayaquil when my husband got the email from SS. We had jumped through all the hoops required to go on this trip. Health insurance, a negative PCR test, QR codes, forms, etc. I have a folder an inch thick of documents that were required. What distresses me the most is my TA and I have been in contact with SS operations about schedule changes since Friday. They kept assuring us that there were no changes. We even called yesterday morning and asked them again if their was ANY rumblings about Argentina. They said there no foreseeable itinerary changes. This was yesterday morning. My husband said he was not going even if it could not get a dime back because he could no longer trust SS. He felt their practices were deceptive and they were giving out disinformation.  We immediately called our TA, who never received the information about the schedule change. She called SS and told them we wanted to cancel because this was not the cruise we had purchased and they were going to leave us in Montevideo with no plans of how we were going to get to Buenos Aires to catch our plane back home since we did not purchase their air. SS told her they need to talk to a supervisor to get a FCC. They did not call her back and when she called back they did not answer the phone. Finally after 4 hours and many attempts she was able to get someone to issue us a credit. We have been loyal SS customers and felt this was inexcusable. This is corporate not a reflection on the individuals who work for SS and seem to have a done a wonderful job aboard the Moon.  Sorry for the long story. Yes thank you and we will contact you for the real story.

  4. Hey Les, so glad things are improving. Hard to believe the number of passengers that will be on the Moon going to BA. Wonder how many have decided to stay on until Chile, which is also not the friendliest place to get stuck and have to quarantine. I have checked with SS and the BA port website and both still list the Moon arriving on 9 February and departing on the 10th. Do you know for certain the ship is not going to Argentina. We are one of the brave few who has not cancelled and will be arriving tomorrow and boarding in Guayaquil, if all goes according to plan.  It will feel very strange to be on a ship that is so empty. Just hope there are enough people around to make the cruise fun. Meeting new people and sharing the experience is half the enjoyment of cruising.
if you are still on board it would be great to meet up for a drink and thank you personally for all your updates. Until then, stay safe and may the only thing negative in your life be your COVID test.

  5. Agree completely, SS seems totally incompetent . Just called and got off the phone and they have no clue of any new changes. However, they did say I would be able to get a FC credit. Since we paid a lot of money for this cruise on a Silver Suite it is good to know that at least we will not lose it and will be able to sail in better times. However, need my TA to cancel. You never know how good your TA is until something goes wrong. She told me we would lose everything if we cancelled now. It has already cost us several hundred dollars in auxiliary expenses due to all the schedule changes and requirements. Yes, I am completely disappointed in SS and have sailed with them on several expeditions cruises. Their handling of Les is inexcusable, especially compared to what other cruise lines are doing. Am I excited to cruise with them again, no not really, am I happy we might a cc, will see if I get it. Les can not begin to thank you for all your postings and can not begin to tell you how sorry we are for all your hardships. I know that you are concerned on how you are going to get back to the UK and end this nightmare. Nothing else to do but soldier on. Thoughts are with you and your wife.

  6. Yes, reading a post from one of the passengers who tested positive. The quarantine situation is terrible, they treat you like a prisoner with prisoner quality food, when you are able to get it, left outside your door. I wonder how many passengers test positive and what will happen when or if you are allowed to disembark in Guayaquil. Not a good situation and it seems SS is not protecting its passengers.  Very disappointed.

  7.  Needless to say we are all saddened to learn of your travails. My hopes were high for our boarding the Moon in Guayaquil and excited about our cruise after reading all your wonderful post. Now, I have so many trepidations. You did everything right and still got covid. Makes me think no one is safe. I am finding that SS is great when things go well but falls short when things go astray. We tried to have them book a transfer from the airport to ship to be safe upon landing, they wanted $90.00 pp ridiculous, especially since they had to change ports and we have been doing cartwheels to try and accommodate all the changes. SS very unresponsive. I call them and get the run around, they know nothing,  according to them everything is great. Anxious to hear what is going to happen when you reach Guayaquil, if you will be allowed to disembark or will have to be quarantined. I am sure the UK will not allow you to fly back until you test negative.
I feel your pain trying to deal with all the uncertainties.

  8. This is not good news, there will probably be more. Concerned, suppose to pick up the cruise in Guayaquil but Chile or Argentina could cancel cruises from docking like Brazil.

How is everyone dealing with the news? Any changes being considered?  Thanks
