  1. For all you planning to cruise over the next 6 months or so, don't forget to get your flu shot soon. In fact, the CDC is recommending that you get it before the end of October.

Some parts of the world are already experiencing outbreaks and a cruise ship can be a fairly enclosed environment if someone brings it aboard . Better be safe than sorry! :halo:

  2. We will be departing Venice on October 17 for 12 days to Barcelona. We have never sailed this late and my DW is concerned that the weather will be colder than she would like. Can anyone offer your experience in sailing the Mediterranean this time of year and suggestions for the type of clothes to pack? Thank you.

Should be quite pleasant. Highs in low 70’s. https://traveltips.usatoday.com/weather-conditions-cruising-mediterranean-october-106318.html

  3. My wife and I are having our first crossing on the Voyager from Barcelona to Miami in November. This will be our 7th RSSC cruise, including twice on the Voyager. Have not been on the line for about 10 years. Great to read about her upgrades and look forward to experiencing the changes. We are going to be spending two nights in Barcelona, which we thoroughly enjoyed on a previous trip. Although NOT newbies to Regent or cruising, we would appreciate some advice on preparing for a 14 day cruise that includes 7 days on the Atlantic ... especially in November! Thanks! Jim

    Hi Jim,

Let me also welcome you to the forum. We will be joining you on this crossing and are anticipating a wonderful trip. We have done two other crossings on Silver Spirit, one of which included this same itinerary. Both were quite enjoyable- calm seas and fair winds. The temps were in mid seventies. We took light jackets, but never used them. The stops in Malaga, Cartegena and Funchal were all shorts or light pants

and short sleeves. We did use the jackets on our return home from Miami. Cleveland sounds like a jacket place[emoji39]

Hope you will sign up for the Meet and Mingle sponsored by Regent. They require at least 12 and last time I checked they hadn’t meet minimum.

  4. Explorer— the Explorer Suite.

Explorer suite 919 is near the elevator. Has anyone stayed in this suite and if so did you hear the elevator ding?

Grand suite 901 is under the bridge. Is this room quiet?

Thank you in advance. We are new to Regent and appreciate your help?

    Cruising Diva,

Elevators open into center alcove and dings are very muted. I can’t imagine that you would hear any sounds. We had friends who stayed in GS 902 and they had no complaints with noise from above. It is a beautiful suite. You should be fine in either suite. Enjoy[emoji39][emoji39]

  5. kntdds,

We haven't cruised the Voyager since about 2005, so my information may be out of date. We had a Horizon suite on deck 7 right on the stern, and the vibration (really more of a shaking) was pretty bad. Some fellow guests reported little or no problem in nearby stern suites, but others did. For us, it seemed worse in calm water when the ship was at top cruising speed. I walked around areas fairly near the stern and could feel some vibration aft of the laundry room locations on all decks. So should I ever cruise the Voyager again, I would make sure to book a suite forward of the laundry room location on the particular deck. To be fair, forward of this location there was no vibration that I could find. Hope this helps.

    Thanks for your input.

  6. If you do a web search on "Acapulco crime" you find that the city is the #1 most dangerous city in Mexico and #2 in the world! Violent crimes are extending all the way down to the beach. I, too, find it hard to believe that Regency would continue to use this as a scheduled port after the US Gov has forbidden its' employees from visiting.

  7. The Hyatt Regency, Crown Plaza and Hotel Maya (Doubletree) were the three hotels that our TA recommended for the pre-cruise night. Is anyone familiar with the Maya? Website looks nice and Tripadvisor no worst than others. The Explorer arrives in port on Friday the 13th, so it will be there when we arrive.

  8. We have three couples doing the same and according to our TA you can book hotels much cheaper on your own. Rather than going through Regent, we are having him find us a nice place, then have a van pick us up for the trip to ship. Regent is showing the Intercontinental Century City as hotel of choice for those passengers getting the included pre cruise night. We are looking at hotels closer to the port in Long Beach area.

  9. Since higher category suites get to make pre-cruise dining reservations first, can they include friends in lower categories when they make their reservations? We have a group of 6 sailing, but only 1 suite is in a higher category and we wanted to be sure we can eat together if possible.
