  1. Hi, I have been looking recently for a cruise for my wife and 4 year old daughter, but finding they are just going up and up in price, especially when there is limited cabins with sofa beds.

So I've had an idea. There are 3 large ships leaving from Southampton on the same day in the next couple of months. My idea is to travel to Southampton and try to see if there is last minute availability on one of the ships. Has anyone ever done this before and did you have any success ? Do they even allow people to book on same day ? Was the price a lot cheaper ? If all else fails, I'll get the ferry to France !

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Hi, my wife, 4 year old daughter and I cruise regularly but often come across a problem with cabins. We need a cabin with a sofa bed or pull out bed for our daughter, as the 2 fixed singles and shoulder height pullmans are not suitable for 2 reasons: My wife and I like to sleep in the same bed, and my daughter is likely to fall from the pullman if she wakes in the night.

We normally look at cruises 6 months in advance and often find there are very few suitable cabins available with our requirements. Has anyone had the same trouble and how do you get around it ? I'm thinking of booking further in advance but seem limited to which ships we can book on to. We have been with RCI, Celebrity and P&O in the past, but are open to suggestions.

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Hi my wife, 2 year old and I recently cruised with p and o and when we got to our cabin, there were 2 fixed singles and 2 Pullmans. This obviously wasn't suitable as my wife and I like to sleep together and baby could not sleep on a bunk 6 foot off the ground as if she wakes and gets up in the night she would fall and break her neck !

We were moved to a double room and had a travel cot brought in but this took up a lot of room and wasn't ideal.

What is the best way to select a cabin that is suitable ? I've tried p and o and princess but the 4 berth with top Pullmans seemed to be the only option.

  4. Hi, after a very bad experience with P&O last year, we are looking to go with another cruise company next year. We would prefer to go from Liverpool as we live in Cumbria.

The good thing about P&O was that there was only a low fare for baby (she will be 2 next year). But looking at Celebrity for example, they charge full fare regardless of age.

Can you tell me what cruise companies will be operating out of Liverpool to the fjords next year, and if they also offer low fares for children ?

    Thanks in advance.
