  1. Thanks for that. We'll go prepared for both. We're having a day in London the day before leaving so we will need some warm clothes anyway.

Our ports of call are leaving from and returning to Limassol, then Heraklion, Athens, Mykonos Town, Kusadasi (Turkey) and Rhodes Town. I think Lesbos and Kos are the worst affected but there seem to be many in Athens.

  2. Ŵe're booked on Agean Titans calling at some of the Greek islands and visiting Athens, leaving on 22nd March, and we wondered if there is likely to be any problems due to the enormous number of refugees and other migrants.

Also, can anyone who has been to the area in early spring advise about the weather as we have no idea what sort of clothing we need to take. Thanks

  3. Are the American sockets two or three pins? I have a strip multi adaptor set up with a European pug on it from our last cruise on hyena Celebration but I want to take an American adaptor in case our cabin has only those sockets.

Blasted predictive text!!! Of course it should be a plug and "the" Celebration. And I've tried to edit several times unsuccessfully.

  5. Hi,1st time cruiser and on island escape for 14 nights 16th September.had been told not to book tours with ship as they're expensive so booked with company only to be emailed today saying their tours were cancelled.have trawled through sites for hours and they are more expensive still.any tips please.thanks

Booking with the ship gives security because the ship will wait if the excursion is delayed getting back

  6. Calomax, @ the moment I'm on 12 hour shifts, and will be home @ 19:00 if it's not already done by then I will do it.

    RR :D

Sorry RR. I didn't mean to rush anyone. Just that I expected to get an automatic acknowledgement to say that it would be processed in due course.

  7. Yes but there a many like me that have no interest in cruising on these new all singing all dancing cruise ships with ice rinks, climbing walls etc and thousands of passengers

Ditto, we want a ship that looks like a ship not a tower block. Thomson's ships suit us just fine. Small and friendly. We're now booked on Island Escape next May. Although we would prefer to be on the Spirit or Celebration, this one goes where we want to go when we want to go.

  8. Thank you ecko, in the end we booked 9542 because it is at the end of a row so we'll only have neighbours one side and it looks bigger although it's probably because the plan isn't to scale.

We aren't likely to stay in during the day so we aren't bothered being able to see the view as long as we have reasonable daylight.

  9. We've booked Escape to the Med for next May :D and I'm now looking to book an outside cabin on deck 9. On the deck plan it looks as though some of them are between the lifeboats although I understand that you can see over the boats except where the tenders are. On my other thread, ecko said that 9048 is one. Does anyone know how the cabin layouts differ between the port and starboard sides? On the deck plan the port cabins seem to be short and square while on the starboard side they are long and narrow. We quite fancy trying for number 9542 as it appears to be almost in front of a lifeboat. Does anyone know what it is like please?

  10. Thanks everyone, i think we'll avoid deck 8. We want an outside cabin but won't spend long enough in it to justify the extra cost of a premier so I think we'll try for deck 9 midships if we can get one between the lifeboats or deck 7.

Ecko, is there a similar problem to deck 8 on deck 9? Is it also a promenade deck or only for access to the lifeboats please?

  11. Hi,

Have sailed on IE once, last year, and Dream once, last March.

The Dream has a formal captains night once a week on the sea day, IE does not, which suits us as we don't bother with this anyway, but it may be something which you would want to do, if so then Dream.

We too preferred the meals and entertainment on IE. Would recommend a cabin in or near the middle of both ships. Have a lovely cruise whichever one you choose :)

Thanks Barnowl, we have decided on IE:D. We certainly don't want a formal night:eek:. We've been on the Spirit and Celebration and skipped it both times. IE sounds much better except, possibly, the cabins, but they don't seem to be any worse than the other two that we've been on. We're thinking about deck 9 forward of the lifeboats or midships on deck 8. Is there any particular reason for recommending the middle please?
