  1. We booked this cruise because of a great deal through Carnival.  I'm Cherl and my husband is Wil (one L) and we are from Texas.

Initially, I booked the "free" interior cabin, but then panicked a bit at the thought we might get a 1A, so I got our TA to change it to an ocean view.  Great price and good OBC.  It will be my 20 Carnival cruise and my husband's 19th.  (Don't ask about it if you meet us--he's still a bit bitter that I took our daughter once without him--and left him to play Santa at one of my work functions.)  It will be our first sailing out of New York. Wil is from northern Virginia, and he worked out of DC when we lived in Virginia, but we never made it up to NYC.

  2. Lol you never know!

99% of those passengers will pass through Houston on their way to the Valor. I am allowing for a few that may live on the island and between.

Houston IS on the way--not like there's an airport in Galveston.

  3. if you have cheers... you can get unlimited. so you can get 1 soda every 5 minutes. 60 an hour and several hundred if you chose eventually

if they open it, the chance that you will over take is MUCH less.

now if you have cheers and you are hanging with 15 people in other cabins... no one will need to buy any non alcoholic drinks

Well, up to 15 drinks (alcoholic beverages that is).

  4. On the cruise that you have the 75th day you will be Platinum for the entire cruise (and thereafter).

We got in on the old way and we were Platinum 10 years ago. We just recently passed the 75 day mark.

We did two 5 day back to back to push us over the summer before the change. We now have 100 days. 100 more to go for Diamond--don't see that happening until after retirement.

  5. Wow. We cruised frequently when our kids were teens. And we had early dining. And we showed up as a family on time. Every night.

Us too--family dinner was an expectation. They could do stuff with their new friends (as long as I knew what and where), but dinner was for family.

On our last cruise, we had one couple at our table for 10 that was never on time. Our waiters didn't wait more than 5 minutes for them. They would show up in the middle of the main course -- once after we had ordered dessert. :o

  6. 11 inches of rain in 5 hours will stress ANY drainage system! We tend to cruise during hurricane season (and every other season except summer), and have had our itinerary change once. Galveston drains quickly. Oh and yes, we are scheduled to cruise this hurricane season (9/30 on the Vista)!
