Just off the Vista yesterday--no night lights.

if you have cheers... you can get unlimited. so you can get 1 soda every 5 minutes. 60 an hour and several hundred if you chose eventually
if they open it, the chance that you will over take is MUCH less.
now if you have cheers and you are hanging with 15 people in other cabins... no one will need to buy any non alcoholic drinks
Well, up to 15 drinks (alcoholic beverages that is).

On the cruise that you have the 75th day you will be Platinum for the entire cruise (and thereafter).
We got in on the old way and we were Platinum 10 years ago. We just recently passed the 75 day mark.
We did two 5 day back to back to push us over the summer before the change. We now have 100 days. 100 more to go for Diamond--don't see that happening until after retirement.

I am looking at our Coconut Monkey Head right now. I remember the Carnival forums--learned a lot there but then it got mean and I went away.

I have nothing of real value to add - but this made me about spit my drink all over my computer!
Me too! Scared the cats!

Wow. We cruised frequently when our kids were teens. And we had early dining. And we showed up as a family on time. Every night.
Us too--family dinner was an expectation. They could do stuff with their new friends (as long as I knew what and where), but dinner was for family.
On our last cruise, we had one couple at our table for 10 that was never on time. Our waiters didn't wait more than 5 minutes for them. They would show up in the middle of the main course -- once after we had ordered dessert. :o

We use Carnival gift cards that I buy through AARP so we get the 10% discount. I've never done CC.

And why hassle yourself with their luggage? If they don't want to hassle with it send it with the porters.
I wouldn't see it as a hassle--it takes 10 minutes, and I have a whole week to enjoy myself. It does depend on the friends though. I only cruise with really good friends.

Amazon has it as well.

To be kind, you could put their carryons in your cabin once they board. Don't bring them to your cabin, but just put the bags in there so they don't have to lug them around.

11 inches of rain in 5 hours will stress ANY drainage system! We tend to cruise during hurricane season (and every other season except summer), and have had our itinerary change once. Galveston drains quickly. Oh and yes, we are scheduled to cruise this hurricane season (9/30 on the Vista)!

I cannot imagine that is would be a fun, relaxing cruise for you--maybe wait a couple of years.

They have a midnight buffet on the Journey's cruises and I usually end up missing the chocolate extravaganza since it's during the day.

Love that lady's spirit!--"just throw them in the back and I'll ride the running boards!"

I cheat. My husband is an Amtrak conductor and used to lifting luggage. He is usually within a pound or two of the airport scales.
-
We usually go the day before--even when we lived in SE Texas and cruised from Galveston. Too many things can happen for my comfort, but like someone posted earlier--do what's right for you and your wallet.

We loved ours but I'm over 50 and was one of the younger ones on the ship. The area outside of the MDR looked like a Hoveround convention at dinner time. ;)

I don’t know about the hallway decor. When you return to the room at 1am after more than a few drinks...about to go in your room and you turn around and see this...it kind of freaks you out.

I can imagine! Freaked me out and I'm sober and on land!

Even using cash, you can keep the accounts separate by indicating that the other cannot charge on your S&S account.

How do you do the Allstate cards without being a customer?
-
I usually give my card to my husband and he puts it in his pocket. If not, I have a pretty lanyard that looks like a necklace.

We went in May and used our balcony daily. Cruising glacier bay I stayed on the balcony all morning and afternoon. If I got cold I would step inside and look out window till I warmed up!

We did the same. Also, we zip lined in May last year and it was not too cold.

For me and my personality type, it's worth it. Not knowing would be stressful. Planning makes me feel better--I get what I want and don't have to settle for what's left.

We booked this cruise because of a great deal through Carnival. I'm Cherl and my husband is Wil (one L) and we are from Texas.
Initially, I booked the "free" interior cabin, but then panicked a bit at the thought we might get a 1A, so I got our TA to change it to an ocean view. Great price and good OBC. It will be my 20 Carnival cruise and my husband's 19th. (Don't ask about it if you meet us--he's still a bit bitter that I took our daughter once without him--and left him to play Santa at one of my work functions.) It will be our first sailing out of New York. Wil is from northern Virginia, and he worked out of DC when we lived in Virginia, but we never made it up to NYC.
