You can ask the steward for ice, or use those crack and shake ice packs that don’t need to be frozen.

She does have those, and will take as a backup. The idea of that precious luggage space taken up by 5-10 ice packs though ... lol

Thank you all - I think she'll take acouple of the ice packs you break, but also just get the ice replenished for the permanent one, in case she runs out.

  2. I know there's no way to know for sure, but I'm curious what options might be available. I have a cruise booked that includes a stop in Grand Cayman. If they still aren't open to cruise passengers at that point, where might Carnival go instead? It's a 5 day from Miami, going to Ocho Rios as well.

  3. My husband and I both have cruised solo - we have different travel styles and while a cruise definitely allows us to travel together and do the things we like, we also don't always have the same time off. Why should either of us miss out on fully living our life because the other can't go or isn't interested? I'm glad we think alike in that aspect.

He's more the "relax" type" (spa, sun at the pool, etc) and I'm the "do everything" type (trivia, shows, get off the ship and see as much as I can)

My last solo was to DR and T&C, and now I just booked one for December going to GC (that will be a revisit) and Jamaica.

  4. Does Boston's ban on gatherings of over 25 people count for a cruise ship boarding? I know that sounds like a ridiculous question, but NCL hasn't canceled our 7/3 cruise, despite that ban. And despite the CDC no-sail order (one CSR told me that they hear from them but don't have to adhere to their suggestions. Not sure how true that is) So I'm curious what's going on there.

Calls to NCL haven't answered any questions, so wondering if anyone else has heard something that may be helpful.

Has anyone ever taken an uber from the ferry terminal to Casa Bacardi?  I have knee issues and getting/crawling into a van (taxi) can be problematic.  Does anyone remember how much it was (I know uber prices can vary a lot) and did you have any issues?  Thank you for any help.

I haven't yet, but you can do an estimate on Uber's website. I would do that around the time you think you're going and on the same day of the week to get a good idea.

This is my plan as well, though we're staying at Universal's Endless Summer.  Glad to see someone else has had success with it.  One thing to keep in mind is that Universal and Disney do both charge for parking at their resorts now.  We're only staying for two nights before our cruise, so we'll just use Lyft to get around Orlando.

Yes, that's definitely a factor. If you stay at a hotel that has a shuttle, though, it's not an issue. Otherwise, parking or an Uber will add to the cost.

My cost factored in the parking as well - If I had Ubered to and from the airport and the park from my hotel, it would have only been about an $18 difference from the car rental and parking cost at the parks. Sometimes being able to stick to your own timetable is worth $18! (In my case, it definitely is!)

  7. I'm staying in DIsney for 3 days before heading to PC for a cruise. I ended up booking a car through Hertz for $62 total at MCO on my arrival day, and I'll return it to MCO the day of my cruise. Then I booked Go Port shuttle, $30 round trip. This was a fairly cheap way to get me where I needed to go, and allow me to stop at a store pre-WDW/cruise to get some essentials, and to come and go as I please. I contemplated Ubering to and from my hotel, but it was only a difference of about $20 and I liked the freedom. And it was just me - so I imagine a family of 3 would be better off with a car as well.

Well that $10 covers the cost for inventory...now you just need to account for the employees to serve the drink, the glassware, the bar, and the multi-milliondollar ship to make it a fair and even comparison.

I'm a bartender so I get mark up, but there's usually a system and that's a lot more than I've ever seen!

Mchelle: It always pains me when someone says that they will stay on the ship. Many people in the Caribbean are dependent on cruise passengers for their livelihood. If everyone could get out and spend just a little, it would help a great deal.

Don't get me wrong - we'll be off for a bit to shop, I'm happy to funnel a bit of money to the island. But with that many ships in port, my anxiety level will be off the charts (I have panic attacks). I won't be able to enjoy myself fearing that we won't get a taxi back in time, or there are too many people in whatever place we choose and cause me to be claustrophobic ... I get what you're saying, but I've got to do what's best for me.

Think of Ibiza in the Caribbean. Younger. Drink. Drunk. Debauhery. Crowded.

We almost booked but thankfully watched a YouTube video first. We'll have our 14 year old with us, decided against it. If we were alone, might be another story!
