  1. Our grand baby is coming with us and would love to play at the beach. We don’t want to pay all inclusive prices that Carnival is offering for their excursions for a 4 year old?!? We have been toCozumel 11 times and never really ventured very far from the port. We wanted to find a less crowded beach so she can actually play and not feel like it’s too crowded.

  2. awww i won an entry to that 200K tournament.. but couldnt go as we are going Dec 1 and again in Jan, and did 5 between sept and oct.. bummer

bet it was lots of fun for whoever won!

From what I understand one person 100,000 and they divided the other hundred thousand between the other 49 players.

  3. We just got off the Carnival Breeze that was having a $200,000 Slot Tournament & $100,000 BlackJack tournament going on. This was our first cruise where we played more than just a $100. We both ended up with a combined 2500 points on our cards. Just curious if anyone knows what level of play gets “Casino” Cruise offers?

  4. Just curious were you able to find an independent travel insurance that will insure you "after booking?" I was going to do the same thing you did but when I contacted 2 different companies they told me I needed to book the insurance with them the same time me I booked the cruise?

  5. We did the Build a Bear last week on the Freedom with my granddaughter. Yes it was in Camp Ocean as a Parent/Child Activity that they did on the 2nd day and last Sea day on our 7 day cruise. We missed the first one so we were very happy to find out we had another chance.

The Camp Ocean staff had several "Build-a-Bear's" different animals & outfits set up on a table for the kid's to choose from. My granddaughter picked the Lion & wanted the Pirate outfit. We paid $25 for the Lion (that comes with a Carnival t-shirt) and $8 for each outfit. They gave us the build-a-bear box filled with stuffing, a star & angel for us to "build the lion."

We all enjoyed the experience very much and would recommend to anyone that might be interested.

  6. We did this at Punta Morena! Are you having a photographer?

Great props of shipwreck boat, cross, look-out tower, hammocks, small pool, long open stretches of beach with waves. Great photos with no outside people! You can probably use google images to get an idea.

However, this is on the east coast so need to arrange return transport in advance. We stayed for the day but if ocean swimming is important I would return to one of the usual beach clubs later in the day.

Thank you! Punta Moreno sounds and looks beautiful - from the pictures that I saw. I'm actually the photographer in our family, so at least one shot will be on a tripod/timer. :)

  7. We really want to take our family photos in Cozumel with their beautiful beaches and that amazing blue blue water in the background.

What is the perfect beach (and not too crowded) to have a little family photo session in Cozumel? We know that we are not going to have the beach to our selves, but are hoping if we get off the ship early enough we won't have to deal with too many people getting in the background. ;)

  8. Maybe in Progresso - Several years ago on the Ecstasy we backed into the port - so if they are still doing it the same you probably will have a front row view. Cozumel we have docked in both directions before (nose in and nose out) so you have a 50/50 shot there.

  9. Good Morning Y'all,

We are bringing are son, daughter in law and 2 1/2 yr old granddaughter on this cruise. I'm wanting to get some input/information from any of you that have used the "Camp Ocean" for ages 2-5 before. I know there is some sort of Parent Orientation in the beginning of the cruise, but I just wanted to give my son/daughter in law a heads up on the requirements/rules. I couldn't find anything on Carnival's website that goes more in depth about the program.

One major concern is that our granddaughter is not fully potty trained - Is that a deal breaker? She is an only child and never been in a daycare environment before - do we need to bring her shot records? These are a couple questions I've been thinking about and I know somebody out there can help me.

Our daughter in law is a Stay at Home Mom and granddaughter is an only child (so far) so she doesn't get much interaction with other toddlers. She loves going to the park and getting to play with new "friends" basically any little boy or girl she meets at the park is her "friend" - so I think this experience will be wonderful for her and give mom/dad/mimi & poppy some much needing fun adult time too.

  10. I always suggested they just raise the cost of the cruise and eliminated the tips all together then nobody would/could screw the staff out of pay. They could just raise the salary.

Its just like those who think they should/could smuggle booze on board to save a buck, the company loses revenue so lets raise the cost per person even more.

But those feel the need to save a buck screws everyone else.

I somewhat agree with you, but on the alcohol thing - Carnival's mark up is ridiculous - they are charging 400% or more for a bottle of wine! So I can understand why some people might smuggle booze.

We bought a couple bottles of Fetzer Merlot while on board and paid over $30 per bottle with the gratuity included. We both enjoyed it so we looked for Fetzer Merlot after the cruise. I found the exact same bottle of wine at Wal-Mart for $6.97! Not on sale/clearance, normal everyday price - same thing at Spec's $7/bottle.

  11. My husband and I are generally wine drinkers, when we drink at all, but on vacation we like to try new things and we like to let loose and usually consume more alcohol than we do during the rest of the year. :D We've had Bloody Mary's, Long Island Ice tea and Crown/Coke on previous cruises. Other than that, neither one of us has had much experience inside bars or ordering drinks for that matter - so we are up for suggestions. I guess I'm a little apprenhensive about wasting money on a drink that I won't like.

    What's a good mixed drink/cocktail?

    What is your favorite?

    What's in it?

  12. This cruise coming up in November will be our 10th cruise also. We go to the gym regularly, walk miles and miles and take the stairs when I'm not wearing high heels - I am a huge clutz in heels and I have actually fallen "Up" stairs before. Past cruises we both gain between 5-10 lbs. We think we have it figured out what our biggest problems are - we eat the bread at dinner, we drink way too much alcohol and tend to eat dessert - 3 huge things that effect our weight. Could you imagine how much we would gain if we didn't exercise, walk and take the stairs???

We more or less know that we will most likely gain weight and have to work twice as hard to lose it when we get home. With that being said, we also know that just 1 week out of the year we can afford to go on a cruise, let our hair down and do anything that we want to do - and we always have a wonderful time! :D

  13. I,did a search for fire retardant party supplies and found some reasonably priced ones. I do not know how the stewards are going to know which decorations are retardant and which ones are not.

please tell me the website - Everything that I have found is ridiculously expensive. Well, I say this because most of my door decorations came from the Dollar Store. ;)

  14. My family is going on our first Carnival cruise in November. We heard about Carnival only allowing flame retardant materials on their doors.

I researched lamination plastic and nothing found. Do you think Carnival will band laminated paper to put on doors? I made several cute ones for my family.

I talked to a Carnival cruise rep, and they could not answer my question.

    Thanks

    Maurice

I'm wondering the same thing. We are leaving on Nov 5th which I believe will be the first cruise out of Galveston that will be implementing these new guidelines. I have a lamenating machine at work and could easily run my cardstock type door decorations through there and lamenate them. I already use magnets and command strips to hang them, so that part is not a problem. Hopefully, that will make them okay?

  15. We've taken both of our boys on "Graduation" cruises. Our oldest son is not nearly as social as our youngest so we had 2 totally different "Graduation" cruise experiences.

The oldest brought his girlfriend, they ordered lots of room service and went to late night comedy/karoke sessions - other than that hung out by the pool all day.

Our youngest brought his best friend on his graduation cruise - they hung out at the O2 club, danced all night, went to comedy shows, meet lots of new friends (and girls) stayed out until 5 am and slept most of the day...they had the time of their lives and we barely saw them. :)

  16. I tried it once...I had my hair braided in Belize for $10. She did a wonderful job, but I did not realize she would put a greasy liquid on my hair to help her braid easier and keep flyaways down. It was nasty and smelled really bad too. I have no idea what it was, but I could not wait to get back to my room to shampoo it out. It took 3 shampoo/rinse to come clean.
