  2. Hey Kimberly! I should have know you would top yourself, the video was great, I especially love the credits, very authentic looking, I actually LOL'd !

I'm glad you enjoyed the Magic, I was on her last fall (loved the ship, not a fan of the lack of transportation options for a solo from Houston to Galveston  ).

One of these days I know I will see you on another ship, I've got four cruises booked right now (through 2017); if not, let me know if/when you have another layover in Portland, it was fun seeing you last time!

  3. So, a little help here. We haven't sailed with Carnival in seven years - exactly what is American Table? I read that it is coming to Pride in August? Help:confused:

American Table (new MDR menus) and American Feast (MDR menu for elegant night) is a restructured menu containing some previous favorites but also some new dishes. One of the main features is that your entrée generally doesn't come with a side, it's ordered separately. It's not on all ships yet, they're doing a gradual rollout. They just started it on the Breeze for my February cruise but it has been on the Glory for over a year (and some others, can't remember the other ships). It has been "tweaked" a few times and may be further changed when they get more passenger feedback.

  4. This always takes a bad turn, the holier-than-thou element always shows up and says "I would never" and compare it to parking in a handicap spot. So does that mean you/they don't use a handicap stall in the restroom when there are no disabled people present? Right! It's common sense, not morals, but you enjoy it up there on your high horse! Karma is a bitch alright, but that doesn't mean she sides with the judgmental nay-sayers.

Carnival's objective is to sail full, they don't care who is where. 4J's are a great deal and some of the HC cabins are indeed bigger. It is Carnival's responsibility to move people if they do not need an HC cabin and someone else does. And yes, I have been bumped from a 4J HC, and it is NOT a fallacy that they give you an upgrade; I got upgraded to a balcony cabin. That is a fact, not an opinion.

  5. I wish the deadbolt acted like the VACANT/OCCUPIED notification you see on airplane bathroom doors, sometimes those signs fall off and get put back on the door the wrong way!

I got walked in on once (HAL ship), I don't know what the guy was even visiting my room for, it wasn't the usual times for cleaning or turning down the bed for the evening....

  6. At first I was told (my a PVP who keeps claiming to me mine, lol) that they open up 275 days before the cruise, but now when I try to check for my January 2016 cruise I sometimes get a message that they won't show until 120 days before the cruise. Both are a change of policy, as last year (18 months before the cruise) I was able to book FTTF when I booked my 9/26/15 cruise.

I agree that the final payment due date is probably a good time to check, but I won't know if that works until I try it :D

  7. Cruise lines need to enforce their chair hog policies.

I've seen them trying to. On my last cruise a crew member had a clipboard and was putting stickers on vacant-but-occupied chairs, but if/when passengers remove the stickers they don't have any control over it.

I would surrender the items to a crew member and claim ignorance when the person showed up. If somebody is in the pool they should be taking turns with a friend who can watch their stuff while they are in the pool then switch. IMO there is no perfect solution, but then I'm not a lounger :D

  8. I don't see the value of the FTTF. When we embarked, the FTTF boarded maybe 15 minutes before we did. Didn't really see any benefit to them for shore excursions, nor for debarkation.

I think it is a slick marketing gimmick by Carnival to appease the microwave mentality that persists in our society. Everyone feels they need to be first and folks happily fork over their money to have that feeling.

It's not about being "first" on the ship; if you don't see the value, then don't purchase it! For those of us who travel alone (or especially with children), being able to drop things off at your cabin before getting some lunch is worth it! It's also nice being able to use the short line at Guest Services......

  9. Hello,

Great Review! Do you recall what time the self assist debarkation began?

    Thank you

I got off the ship just a few weeks ago and did the self-assist. It was scheduled to begin at 7:45am according to the information provided the night before, but it actually started at 7:15am.....

  10. I know I read something about these Verizon E Gift Cards but I can't remember what. Should I just go to my Verizon store & ask about them? I don't remember seeing anything in my bills about points. My first Carnival cruise is a year away but I'm planning for it now (along with 2 RCI cruises) so I would like to get some info about this.

You need to check on the Verizon website. After you sign up there should be small type that mentions the rewards (unless you haven't signed up for it).

When I looked a few days ago they were still sold out :(. I just started seeing Carnival gift cards in my grocery store but there's no discount. The Verizon ones gave you a 10% discount.....

  11. I always tip an extra dollar more per drink.

I've done that on my last few cruises, mostly in the piano bar. They know my name and my preferences from minute one and they didn't need my card every time; and I was able to use my cheers program to purchase drinks for the performer......

  12. I've found that (in general) Carnival cruisers - those on this board at least - tend to frown with the mention of people in suites, for example, getting additional credit. It tends to bring up the whole "class system" talk and fears. Perhaps Carnival Corp reads enough feedback on here to cause them to move forward slowly.

    Who knows ! :)

    Tom

I get what you're saying...........in a similar vein (buy more get more) why aren't solo travelers paying 200% getting credit for double days? I'm not holding my breath........

  13. For me, it is nice as a solo to get on and drop off my bags. Well worth it just for that. This trip i am taking a redeye, and i am glad i don't have to wait around to get on and of i need to i can take a nap. Best 50 bucks ever!

That's my situation too, I'm not in any kind of hurry, but I can go to my cabin right away I can drop off my stuff and not have to juggle luggage while trying to get something to eat :)

I wasn't able to get FTTF for my cruise next week, and since it's fully booked I doubt any will open up. :(

  14. We are 4 Liverpool England Lasses joining the Breeze in September. We have been known to like the odd drink(!) but are new to Carnival and are interested in what you had to say about Gift cards. Can you give us any information on them?? How do we get them....how do they work.. and can you chose any amount?

    Any help much appreciated

    http://www.carnivalgiftcards.com/

I don't know if there's a UK version of the Carnival website? The link shows gift card info; I recommend eGift cards, as they are the same as cash. They can be used to book or pay off a cruise IF you booked directly with Carnival. They can also be used for on board credit.

I would recommend using your favorite search engine to see if there are any deals. One of our US cellular companies was offering the eGift cards at 10% off, it really adds up! :)

You will love the Breeze! I'm going on her for the second time in a few weeks
