  1. We're keen on trying this - what night would it be on a 4-night Victory cruise, and should we try to reserve it now (we cruise in 2 weeks)?

They don't tell you what night it is until you're on the ship, but they don't book it on elegant night.

I would definitely reserve it now :)

  2. Date: 2/28/2015

    Ship: Breeze

    Class of Guarantee: Oceanview

Cabin Assigned: Deck 1 6L (Deluxe Oceanview)

Date Assigned: TODAY! 30 days before cruising, 54 days after booking

Overall, pretty happy! Slight upgrade and a couch!

I'm glad I noticed your post today :) I'm on the same cruise and got the same upgrade to the same deck - woohooo!! I booked it during the Halloween sale.

  3. Can the eCards be used to pay off the cruise if I booked directly with my PVP? I am assuming so if someone read 26 numbers off.

Can only eCerts be used to pay off a cruise?

    Just for clarification.

    Thanks,

As far as I know, PVP's are Carnival employees, so yes, you can call your PVP to pay off your cruise.

My understanding is that you can use Carnival Certificates (that you receive in the mail, then in turn have to mail to have applied to your cruise) can be used to pay off a cruise but not to book a cruise, and they cannot be used for OBC. The Carnival eGift cards are just easier to use and have no expiration date, the Certificates are good for about a year. I don't have any experience with the actual plastic gift cards.

  4. Me, my sister, and two friends all have cruises booked with Carnival through a TA and have used the cards for payment. It's the same agency , so maybe they are an exception. Never a single problem trying to use them towards payment.

I have heard that, maybe they have a special deal with Carnival. I only know Expedia wasn't able to accept them for my payment. :(

If you are planning on using a TA, I suggest contacting them before you purchase ecards to use for the deposit. I typically book directly through Carnival, but used a TA this time because they were offering a chunk of OBC. My TA will not use the ecards for a deposit, but will take them for final payment, gratuities, shore excursions, etc. Always better safe than sorry, so check with your TA :-)

Excellent idea, and I say double check! I had actually called Expedia and was put on hold for almost half and hour when I asked if I could use the Carnival eGift cards to pay off my cruise with them; the answer was YES. But about a week later, eGift cards in hand, I called and they said NO. I pushed. NO. I kept pushing NO. Grrrrrrr

  5. So can someone confirm for me? I can buy these cards and pay off my cruise and then buy extra and put on my sign and sail cards?

Yes, you can use them to pay off your cruise IF you have booked directly with Carnival. And yes, the balance can be applied to your S&S account.

rob&tam - No matter what kind of Verizon account you have, you should be able to see your rewards on the website. Sign up if you haven't already, and you will probably see that you have already accrued quite a lot of points. Then go to the rewards section and click on the gift card option, then Carnival should appear. BE VERY CAREFUL to purchase ONLY the eCards, the certificates have to be mailed, cannot be used for OBC, and they have an expiration date. I can't stress this enough!

pizzaman1333/clcjdn - they are the equivalent of cash (no name is attached to them) so you can gift them if you choose :)

blondietink - if you want to wait for it, Carnival can mail you a check if you have a credit balance on your S&S, BUT if you don't want to wait, you can cash out in the casino :D

  6. Make the steakhouse reservations, make two, you can always cancel the one reservation when you find out the time of the chef's Table.

That's a good idea, I might try that!

How do you book the chef's table on the breeze? I see so many good things about it and would like to give it a try on our upcoming cruise

Sign into your account on the Carnival website, then go to plan activities and choose the Steakhouse. Then fill in "Chef's Table, 2" (or however many guests), then the sailing date of the ship.

Sometimes I get an email within 24 hours, but this time I didn't get an answer for a few weeks but I wasn't sure if the site was glitching.

  7. I was on the Breeze's 8 night sailing Dec 6th 2014, and our chefs table was Dec 8. Don' t know if it is always this night, thought it was great! They didn't let me know the time until the second morning.

It's always that way, they let you know when you're on the ship, I wish they would tell you ahead of time. I want to make steakhouse reservations but I'm not sure when to do it :)

Thanks for the reply! I think my last Chef's Table was the second night of the cruise also :)

  8. I just found out last year that I'm a "super-taster", so anything that's a little bitter to most people is super bitter to me. I can't stand the taste of coffee and feel like you all have been brainwashed, lol:)

    Things I will not eat

raw meat (sushi? steak tartar? no!)

    brussel sprouts

    cooked cabbage

    bugs

    balut

    okra

    oysters

    anchovies, sardines, etc.

    Also not a fan of

    raw onions (except green)

green bell pepper, cooked or raw

    I'm sure there's more :D

  9. Is there a list anywhere of the different food events/themes on carnival? I've never seen the chocolate buffet on any of my previous 3 cruises. I'm so happy to know what night to look for it this time. Thank you!

The Carnival website has an entire category just about food, but the chocolate buffet these days is in the Marketplace buffet. The FunTimes on your cruise will have the actual day.

The Chefs Table on any Carnival ship. Only have done it once, but now every time I go on a cruise I will be doing it. It is SO worth it & the new menu is excellent. As a living I am a professional taste tester & true foodie by heart. All I can say is that is was the best meal I have EVER had in my life & I'm almost 59 & have had the tasting menu at Spago's when Wolfgang Puck was in house & chef as I got to meet him. I'm sorry, but I really do think that the Carnival cruise line Chefs Table was a much better meal according to my taste buds. I already have reservations for it when we go on the Imagination 1/15/15. I cant wait!!!

I've booked my 4th Chef's Table for my 2/28/15 Breeze cruise, and there's a new menu. I agree, it's amazing! If you search these boards the new menu is here somewhere, but I also emailed it to Zydecocruiser, I just don't know if he's updated the website. I have been having a craving for their Wagyu beef!

I haven't been to Spago's but I dined at an Emeril's in Orlando several years ago and it was fantastic. I highly recommend Marmalade in Old San Juan (PR), one of the best meals of my life :)

I just found out last year that I'm a "super-taster" - I missed my calling! But I wouldn't be able to even taste things like brussel sprouts :p
