I think the smaller ships allow for more flexibility in which ports they call at.  And also because it reduces the crowds.  I have nothing against the bigger ships - we loved our Ovation cruise in Norway - but the smaller ships would be better for exploring some less obvious places.

Another tip about a Med cruise is, as far as possible, avoid taking ships' excursions which are invariably over-priced and herd managed.  It's easy to DIY here.

    Thanks.

Having just spoken to my United Kingdom travel agent and I am informed that this "Book with Confidence Policy" is not applicable to Seabourn passengers from the UK. To say this annoys and concerns me is an understatement in the extreme. Has anyone any further thoughts on this situation?

My UK travel agent has sent me an email setting out the Book with Confidence policy in relation to my summer 2020 cruise so I'd check again with your agent.

  3. I have a question about the Caviar in the Surf event.

We are looking at a 7 night itinerary on the Odyssey and I wondered if they held it every cruise? We would stop at Carambola Beach, St Kitts on the first day and I have read that this is one of the locations where the event is held but I wasn't sure if they would do it on the first day?

Is there any way of finding out?

    Many thanks.

  4. I recently returned from a fabulous cruise on the Odyssey with excellent service and crew.

When I previously cruised with Seabourn, the afternoon tea service was excellent, with a choice of teas to order followed by the crew offering trays of sandwiches and cakes at your table.

Now the food is no longer served but is laid out on two buffet areas either side of the entrance to the lounge. It's a minor point but was a little disappointing for a luxury line as in my opinion it was a drop in service from before.

I'm not sure if it is the same on all of the ships but I wondered what others thought about it?

  5. I’m thinking about doing a cruise in the Med in May and was wondering if the Patio Grill is open for dinner when it is cooler in the evenings. Do they have those outdoor heaters or are they too dangerous on a ship?

  6. Thank you all very much for the information, that is just what we wanted to know. We have had balconies on other ships before and whilst they are very nice to have, we don't really make that much use of them, especially on smaller ships where you can find a quiet spot to sit in the sun.

We won't be in the cabin much when the cabaret lounge is being used so I don't think that will be a problem for us and I'd rather be woken up on a cruise ship by the anchor or tender than my alarm clock at home :)

  7. We are thinking of taking our first Azamara Cruise this summer and were looking at the oceanview staterooms.

We were wondering if all of the oceanview staterooms on deck 4 are the same in terms of size, layout and window, or do some have a port hole? Also, are these cabins noisy because of their location under deck 5? Are some locations quieter than others on this deck?

We would be grateful for any information.

    Thank you.

  8. As far as I know all of the main cruise lines offer breakfast in the MDR so I'm surprised to read that Seabourn (as one of the luxury lines) may not. This is disappointing.

Can anyone who has been on Seabourn recently let us know what the current policy is?
