  1. Thanks, everyone. My rate does allow for name changes, but finding someone to go with a week left before sail away has been challenging. I was just worried about calling and having them say I have to rebook and that casino rate is no longer available. ☹️ I have decided to go the no show route. I got a fantastic rate for this trip, and I’ll just purchase cheers once I board.

It was going to be my friends first cruise and was my gift to her. She’s been through so much lately and now with her sweet momma’s diagnosis, I just really feel for her. 💔

  2. Hello! I’m an experienced cruiser (platinum with Carnival) but have a new predicament that I’ve never experienced. I’m sailing next week and my guest is now unable to go. I literally just booked this cruise a week ago (had a great casino offer) and my guests mother was diagnosed with breast cancer this week. She understandably wants to be home to assist her mom with doctor visits and for moral support.

No one else I know can go on such short notice. Should I call and tell them I’ll be solo? I don’t want to lose my balcony cabin. It was the last balcony room available when I booked - it’s a 3 person balcony cabin but allowed me to book for 2. I also don’t want to have to pay anything additional, should that rate no longer be available.

Ive already prepaid tips for both of us. If I call will those, along with the port fees and taxes for her portion be refunded?

I know I have read before that the best practice is to just show up and have her no show. Would her gratuity and port fees be credited to my room, in that case?

Also, I want to pre order the drink package but as it stands now I would have to pay for both of us unless she is not on the booking.

Help 😬 What would you do?

  3. Hello! I’ll be sailing soon, on the Mariner of the Seas. This will only be my second time sailing RC. I live in Texas and sail from Galveston a couple times a year, so I’m platinum with Carnival. All that being said - I’m super excited. I loved my sailing on RC back in 2015. I’ve been trying to do a lot of research but I wanted to get some personal opinions, on those who’ve sailed both.

What bar on RC is most comparable to Carnival’s Alchemy bar? My bf and I will have the drink package and love great cocktails, not really beer drinkers. I saw that there’s an adults only pool area - do they play music there, or is it quiet? If there’s music, what type? Last question, for those that have sailed on the Mariner, what’s your favorite meal in the MDR? Any can’t miss dishes on a 3 days sailing? Thanks 😁

  4. We did this July 2018. There were six of us, adults. We booked 2 rooms at Comfort Suites. Price, including taxes, etc came to $129/pp

The price on the ship was $189.99/pp or $159/pp direct through Atlantis.

We taxied over to Comfort Suites, everyone showed ID and got a wristband. The lady at the desk gave us clear walking directions over to Atlantis, where we checked in. Easy and fast. No issues whatsoever. We got there well before other people on our ship.

  5. I feel like I’m going to get one of those cabins that people post videos of, with loud clanging and shaking all the time. [emoji23][emoji23] I just don’t want to have to get to the port and not have a cabin number for my luggage tags. Oh well [emoji16] as usual, I have Cheers, so I’ll be able to sleep through anything.

  6. Hello. Yes, when I booked the only options were Suite and inside, with Carnival selecting the cabin.

Yes, I was on the Valor in March and the Freedom in June. Currently looking at the Vista for February [emoji2]

I’ll definitely come back and post which cabin I’m assigned. Hoping I don’t find out at the port 🤪

  7. How funny. I’m on the same cruise, and also booked a few weeks back, same category and STILL waiting for my cabin assignment. It’s driving me nuts, not knowing. I’ve never done this TBA thing before and am super selective about my cabin location [emoji23] Hoping for the best.

  8. This thread is just silly. Almost as silly as the tablecloth threads. Carnival should do away with dress codes. I've been in the restaurant business for 17 years, and just the other day I had a guy all angry over two men wearing a hat into the restaurant.(semi private club restaurant bar and grille feel) As the F&B manager I told him I didn't have a problem with them wearing a hat. I agreed that I was raised differently, and wouldn't do it, but I wouldn't risk two complaints just to push his values on someone else.

In the grand scheme of things that's what this boils down to. People not minding their own business. You have your views and values, and I have mind. When you let my views and values ruin your cruise or dinner, like this man did because they aren't the same of someone else's you are at fault. Mind your own business. Does a pair of shorts or a hat bother you that much. Again stay on your side of the fence and mind your business.

In closing I'll be 40 years old next month. Last cruise I took I didn't pack a suit or dress pants. I gotta laugh when someone says buy a pair of dockers. I wouldn't be caught dead in such rags. My jeans you snicker at cost as much as 10 pairs of dockers at kohl's and feel about 100 times better. I already know when I take my cruise in august I won't pack a suit. Even though I have several hanging in the closet. Why? I'm with my wife and kids, and I don't feel like dressing up. It's jeans and a button down shirt every night.(ok I may take the pink dress pants;) I'm sure you would snicker at that too) When I cruise for my parents 50th in 2019, I will pack a suit, heck I might pack my tux like I did when I went on the first ever journeys cruise carnival offered.

People go have a good time worry about yourselves and nobody else. You want X out of a cruise, and I want Y out of a cruise. I don't let you wearing an out of date Hideous JC penny's stafford suit ruin my cruise, so don't let me wearing a pair diesel jeans, with my robert graham shirt, and a pair of shoes from my collection that is worth more than all your clothes you carried on board ruin your cruise either.

Amen!!!! You said it perfectly. My 19 year old son was called out last summer by a woman a bit older than myself (42) while he was waiting to get into the MDR on elegant night. He was wearing dark denim jeans, a pressed button down shirt and very nice shoes. I came in toward the end of her chastising and waited until she was done, before I ripped into her about thinking a $30 Worthington shift dress is “elegant” vs. his entire outfit that costs more than her dress, her jewelry and her bad hair color.

If someone’s attire has the ability to ruin your dinner or vacation, you need to find a hobby. [emoji1365]

  9. That is absolutely unacceptable. They need to give your entire group your original cabins and tell the other people, now presumably booked in those cabins, that it was an internal error. I would advise posting on the Carnival FB Page, under visitor posts.

  10. What documentation was required for the adult friend? Anything from the parents? Honestly given she's 20 I

Wasn't thinking about it. We're taking to youngest's 18 y/o friend on Harmony of the Seas two weeks later. I need to do some more homework!!! I was just thinking they are finally "adults".

No documentation is necessary from parents, for adults 18 or over. They simply need passport or BC/ID. My daughter’s boyfriend has traveled with us since he was 19 and all he’s ever needed is his own identification.

  11. I wish they did have a process like that in place. I think it would be hugely popular. I’ve received upgrade calls 5x in the past 6 years or so. Once complimentary at no cost & the others were super reasonable offers - moving from inside to balcony, or balcony to spa balcony - the amount I paid was much less than I would’ve paid upon initial purchase. I did decline an upgrade offer from a balcony to a suite. The cost was over $400 and I couldn’t get them to budge. I would’ve taken it for $350 [emoji16] That being said, I haven’t received an upgrade call on my past 2 cruises, which were both after I declined the suite offer. I hope I wasn’t taken off the list. 12. Well, at the risk of sounding like a lush 🤪 oh, what the heck, here goes. I maximize my Cheers program.

I start off with having some protein and maybe some fruit for breakfast. I’m not a fan of Bloody Marys, so I may have a mimosa if I go to brunch. If not, I head up to Serenity by 9. I grab a vitamin water on my way up. When the serenity bar opens, I’ll drink 2 or 3 (Bahama mama, Miami vice, maybe grey goose and soda with lime) while I lay out for a couple of hours. On the way back to my room, I’ll stop by a bar and get a bottle of water. Go shower, then head to Red Frog. Order a Painkiller or Beachcomber. Send my friend out to Guys BBQ to get a small scoop of mac and cheese, top it with pulled pork to bring back to me. I alternate my Red Frog drinks with a water [emoji6] When Alchemy opens, I’ll have a couple there (The Perfect Storm or Chipotle Pineapple Martini), maybe go play some trivia. I’ll go get more vitamin water and head to the room to change for dinner. Depending on how long my primping takes and if I take a power nap, I’ll stop by Alchemy again on my way to dinner. Maybe bring that drink to MDR or not.. I always order a glass of Cabernet with dinner. Go wait in line for comedy. Drink a couple of sweet & spicy jesters at the comedy club. Head to the casino where I’ll gamble and have some wine or vodka sodas. Grab bottled or vitamin water & head to bed. [emoji6]

  13. Yes, that matters. You may need to book the friend in with you, and then switch rooms once onboard.

That’s not necessary. My kids are now 22 & 19. We’ve cruised every summer for the past 8 years and they always bring a friend. I book them in their own room, near me. Last summer, two 21 yr olds & one 18 year old in their own room. No need to do the switching of keys and re arranging. If you can’t book it online, call Carnival and they will do it for you.

  14. Price at Atlantis and cruise excursions go up in peak season, which summer is. You can’t bring food and drink, but we did sneak water bottles ($1 - vendors sell them by the taxi lines, $10 at Atlantis), and granola bars. You check in at CS and they give you vouchers for the wristbands (I can’t remember where we got them). My advice is to get there ASAP and get in line for the slides at 10, it will get crowded.

Thank you! I’ve read varying reviews of people bringing food and drink in. I’ll bring some water bottles and protein bars off the ship. If they’re confiscated, not biggie.

Our ship docks at 7am, so we will for sure be there early and hopefully in our cabana before the masses arrive.

  15. We haven't been yet, but don't they give you the wristbands at the Comfort Inn when you checkin?

Also, how is $120 pp a bargain for the day, doen't the cruise lines only charge about $129pp for one of their excursions?

From everything I have read, Comfort Suites gives each person a card with their name on it, which is exchanged for wristbands at the resort.

The cruise line charges $189.99/per adult and day pass via the resort directly is $160/per adult.

  16. Hello,

We will be going to Atlantis for the first time this summer. (June 2018) I have already booked 2 rooms at Comfort Suites, for 6 adults. Great bargain, I may add. Total, including all fees comes out to just under $120/pp

    I have a few questions.

Has anyone rented a cabana for the day? If so, what location? I am thinking Baths Colonnade area looks best, for beach access and not too many kids running amok. [emoji23] Also, did you find it to be worth the cost?

Are you allowed to bring drinks/snacks into Atlantis? Not a cooler, but would most likely bring water bottles and protein bars in my beach bag. I’m not opposed to spending money, and will always pay a premium for my alcohol and food, but it always irks me to pay more than a few bucks for a bottle of water 🤪 (Please no comments about what not to bring off ship. I’m a seasoned cruiser and not smuggling food, just curious about what’s allowed into the resort)

What is the closest Atlantis tower to Comfort Suites, to receive wristbands? Any first hand walking directions are welcomed.

    Thanks so much,
