this is a great time to visit Sonoma or Napa Valleys. The fires are out, the air is clear, and it isn't crowded so everyone is glad to see you. And you can find a place to park around the Sonoma Plaza.

Come to Sonoma. The air is clear, the wineries are waiting for you. We've had a rough couple of weeks, but you will be welcome and comfortable here. As so many in the county have been burned out, there may be a problem with hotel accommodations here, but can't think of any other problems.

Since the cabin door and bathroom are generally on the same wall, how about having a wider door and a different layout of the bathrooms on a new build. And doors that are easier to hold open.

It depends on how warm your voyage is. From San Francisco I'd recommend the Wheelhouse Bar.

$5, a smile and a thank you works for us and our two bags, both leaving and returning.

When we went through the Canal, we had dinner the day we were there. The ship was running a bit late, and we enjoyed watching the construction of the new locks while we had dinner.

Thanks for the info..My daughter or SOL will be dropping us off and picking us up and now I can tell them exactly what time.
It may take up to half an hour to get down the ramp and through immigration. We have found it works well to have our ride wait in a parking spot along Bay Street and then start for the pier when we call them from luggage pickup.
-
There is also Panda Parking that is enclosed. We will probably go with ACE Parking since that is what AAA recommends, prices are about the same.
We've used both, as they are right across Francisco Street from each other.

At least with Endicott you have a better chance of getting closer to a glacier. At Tracy Arm the ships usually seem to turn around when the glacier is first visible.

Thank you.
I'd heard some reports of the MDR not being available on embarkation day.
Any idea what the fixed menu is?
In January on the Grand we could get fettuccine Alfredo in the Parmesan basket.

Actually I have read many long time cruisers who say it was originally only by number of cruises but was changed to allow number of cruise days in order to make it more "fair" for those who take long cruises. I believe you have it backward.
As usual, you are right. We were lucky enough to take several cruises of up to 60 days (when alcoholic drinks were about 35 cents), and had over 350 days when we finally made elite with our 15 voyages.

Ketchikan - Whale's Tale Quilt Shop, 5 Salmon Landing
Skagway - Rushin' Tailor's Quilt Shop, 370 Third Avenue
Excellent choices.:D

With bus or train, we prefer the left side for views.

We will be in Ketchikan on Tuesday 9/5/17 We have rented a tour van leaving at 9am for a several hour excursion of the area. If anyone that is active and willing to share the van expense, let me know if you are interested .
You might want to put that on your roll call.:)

The part of breakfast in CC I liked best was the fresh orange juice.

Thanks for the reply! There are 30 of us as a family reunion!
How great. We only had 11, but my favorite souvenir is a picture of us all on the staircase in the atrium on formal night. We arranged it with the photographic section for a time beforehand.

The lunch in the MDR on boarding the Grand in January had the fettuccine in the basket as a choice. I missed the salmon and the avocado and shrimp appetizer, but enjoyed the fettuccine and especially the basket.

yes I do realise, that, and I also realise that most of these people whinge and whine about smokers ,kids ,food, and someone coughing near them.
"These people"? Please. With any luck you'll get there some day. I hope you'll be in perfect health all the way to 100 and beyond.:D

There's a great quilt shop on the second floor.
-
Girdwood- Bake Shop for breakfast or lunch.

She can probably book the lumberjack show there, and it is right next to the Southeast Alaska Discovery Museum, and shopping.
As was said, the shopping area of Ketchikan is pretty much on the level.

It's only in recent years that Princess has done year-round cruises out of SF and back. Those of us who live close are grateful.
Occasionally there is a cruise with another company but they are few and far between. We have one booked on Crystal next year to Hawaii, and had one booked on Celebrity a year ago to Alaska, but they decided to use the ship for a hotel for a convention instead. Celebrity was going to go to Sitka, our favorite Alaska port, and Princess from SF just hits the usual three as a rule. So we'll hit the usual three in August with the Grand.

LOL... Not a sports fan, but thanks for the advice!
55 Francisco parking is now owned by Ace Parking and it's their reviews that are less than encouraging.
I appreciate the responses.
We have parked at 55 Francisco several times in the past with no problems. Last week we used 80 Francisco with no problems.

Just got off the Grand yesterday, occupying a full suite. Breakfast is in the Crown Grill now, no longer in Sabatini's. On the last day (yesterday), breakfast was not served in the Crown Grill, but full suite passengers could eat breakfast in the Club Class section of the DaVinci dining room (actually they could eat there any day, not just the last day). I believe the breakfast menu for Club Class is the same as breakfast in the rest of DaVinci for all other passengers, although we always ate in the Crown Grill for breakfast so I can't testify to days other than yesterday. There might have been a "special" offering on other days, like at lunch or dinner with one special addition to the normal dining room menu.
There was fresh orange juice, and most days the head waiter would make omelettes, sometimes something else like fried spam.
