There are only about 12 4J cabins. And they are gone as soon as the booking opens for that sailing. I lucked up on a 6J on my up coming cruise. I booked it 8 months before sailing. You have to just keep calling or doing a mock booking to see if one opens up.

Last cruise there was a seven year old running around the pool deck. He said his parents were in the room and he was supposed to stay away for awhile.

Remember a ship is a small city with doors that all look the same. My son has been cruising since he was six but only allowed to roam at 13. He traveled to and alone from high school in NYC at that age so I figured he could handle the ship

We use Post It's and leave them on the TV screen . They also work great to leave notes to your cabin stewards. You can also slap them on your door for friends and family.

Furthermore, if you pay down in cash as you cruise, will they continue to up your holds?
I know we can feed in cash to the machine on board, or at least I have done that before.
Is this done on all ships?

Newark is not closer then Laguardia. Laguardia is your closest airport even with construction going on. JFK is farther then Laguardia on the same parkway ( Grand Central Parkway). Both are in Queens NY. Newark is in Newark NJ.

WE had booked Mt Pleasant for about $189, but by the time we rented a car($89) and got there, afternoon would be turning into dusk. We cancelled everything and went with the Hyatt Place Historic District (priceline $200), will take an UBER from airport (heard about $20+) and then will take uber or taxi to port. Is the Hyatt a nice one? (good reviews). What is a good restaurant near the hotel? Where would we take the carriage rides from? Thanks for all your info.

Probably because they try to pick a time when a ship officer or the CD is available and not much else going on at 5 PM so it won't interfere with anything else. I don't need to be entertained by them, I come to meet people. They'd be better off just doing like before and sending a few door prizes and let us plan it ourselves for the beginning of the cruise...Programed to fail. I'm sure the ship reports back to corporate that attendance is poor.
That's ashame! On all my NCL cruises the M&M was first sea day and ALL the ship officers were present including the captain. They all spoke and we were given a card with their extensions on it encase there was a problem. It's ashame that Carnival doesn't respect the power of CC!!

Those are not the stones I think she is talking about. Years ago DI gave out little real gem stones without a setting. You only got one and they were only big enough to have a stud earring made. Not those Effy things that they are giving out now.
