After a three year hiatus, I'll be taking my sixth Seabourn voyage - Spirit crossing in Nov. I'm just checking to see if some of my favorites are still going on along with some questions...
1. Are the breadsticks still as delicious as ever?
2. What's a good excursion in Funchal? I've done Tea at Reids about 3 times
3. Do they still do the "Liar's Club" - love that!
4. Do they still do "Invitations" for dinner? At this point I will be solo, so I am looking forward to this.
5. Market Lunch - always a favorite - do they still do it?
6. Any recommendations for a pre-cruise hotel in Barcelona? I don't care much about location - just something nice and safe....

Make sure you run run run to be the first one in the Windjammer!!
-
Must depend on the port, day of week, or phase of the moon. Either way - big deal - everyone waiting gets on the ship within an hours time...
-
Actually it's only a special check-in line. You still have to wait in the regular holding area.
-
I agree - if they can't board with you - wait and board with them - or - just meet them somewhere on the ship! :D

It would be nice for my Kindle but I can deal without Internet for a week... If the cruise is longer I buy a small package...
-
...that it is essentially a scam. As I am sure most of you are aware, there are very few balconies on this ship....
I don't get your logic...
This is probably a huge deal to people who have never cruised. We're all a bit jaded.

Ohhh no~~which Denise? I know several Seabournite "Denises."
Hope you're doin' well.......I'll never forget when you kindly helped me in Ft Laud take Capt. GA his "cowboy/sheriff" outfit, (even his black initialed branding iron) Eric De Gray, his Carmen Miranda spiffy hat and sweet Pres. Deborah N., her dozen red roses ~her mother, father and sister were aboard with her, all having lunch with Debbie. I hosted a dining room luncheon ~ We certainly enjoyed Capt. Geir-Arne, Eric, his cousin and several other Sailors. The dining room was packed ~everybody so happy to see one another ~once again a fun Seabourn family reunion! :D We made memories that special day.
Hugs from West Texas,
Martita B.
Martha - I remember our day in Fort Lauderdale quite well, meeting Deborah, Lunch with Captain GA, then drinks in his suite! Unforgettable!
Miss You! :D
PS - I will be on the Spirit in November!

Yes Denise from SF - sailed twice with her.
I didn't think it was ages

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Marja! She was a wonderful lady. That makes 4 passings of Seabourn friends! :o

Thanks so much! Cruising on Liberty March 30! :D

I'm only gold soon to be platinum

...Why this need for constant communication? Its supposed to be a vacation...
I use the wifi to connect to the Internet using my Kindle Fire - I really don't need to, but it's nice to have the full functionality. :D
-
Also - if you do intend on using data while cruising and don't care about the charges, be sure to let your carrier know. I went to Honduras earlier in the year and my data plan got suspended due to high usage rates as they didn't know I would be out of the country.
-
I have Verizon and have been told they don't have international service.
Wow! that is insane!

Marja, for the past month I have been enjoying a dutch treat - "Stroopie"

I put them over my coffee to warm. I found them while searching the Internet for interesting snack foods (yes I spend my free time in odd ways) LOL

Happy Thanksgiving!

We have some severe flooding here, and we aren't even close to Ike!!
Is the flooding from rain bands due to Ike?? We only got wind and a few storms on this side of FL.
Stay safe everyone!! :o
-
Martha - please batten down the hatches, the latest reports expect Ike to strike as a category 4! :(
-
Martita dearest, are you bracing for some fallout from the strike of Hurricane Ike?
My prayers are those in Texas and those who have already been hit. We were very blessed here in FL to have Ike track much further south than originally anticipated..... :o
-
No - everything is raw! I wasn't sure about it at first either, but it's great.

Another summer favorite:
Cold Corn Soup
Cut the kernnels off 4 - 5 ears of fresh corn - place in bowl, add
2 cups almond milk
1 - 2 tsp diced onion
1 diced avacado
1 tsp cummin
salt and pepper - mix
garnish with sprouts and diced red bell pepper.

Check to see how many ships will be in port that day. I would recommend staying away from the closer hotels as they will be crowded with other cruisers - unless you are ok with that.
