  1. Thank you very much for the info. I saw previous threads that addressed the subject, but did not know if taking advantage of the 3-category upgrade - - and not booking concierge outright - - would have an effect on getting the pre-cruise hotel credit.

I was told by Regent that if I booked an "H" category, I would get an "E" category (concierge).

  2. I am thinking of booking a cruise that is offering the 3-category upgrade. I would be upgrading to a concierge cabin that includes a pre-cruise hotel night.

If I do not want to take the pre-cruise hotel night.

Will Regent give me a credit for not using the pre-cruise hotel night like they do if you do not elect to take the included air package?

    Thank you for your help!

  3. I was attempting a little humor. Obviously, I did not succeed! Rather than stating "run", how about "in-charge"?

I was wondering if anyone knew what senior staff (as listed below) would be onboard in mid-November:

    Ship's Captain

    General Manager

    Cruise Director

    Food and Beverage Director

    Thanks!

  4. I do not believe I am looking at the back of the elevators on the deck plan.

Cabins 1409 and 1410 are the last two cabins on that deck.

I'm not sure what else is on deck 14 beyond the Regent Suite and 10 other cabins.

The photo of the Explorer from the outside only shows the smoke stack!

Hopefully, someone onboard will be able to clarify.

    Thanks again!

  5. I wonder if someone on this maiden voyage would be kind enough to go to suite 1409 and tell me if there is a doorway blocking the entrance to that particular cabin?

I just noticed on the floor plan on the Regent website that there is a straight line in the center corridor after the elevators and behind penthouse suites 1407and 1408.

We booked 1409 and now I am curious / concerned that it may not have been a good choice!

I am appreciative of any assistance!

  6. Thank you very much, Forgap.

I hope he stays on for a while longer. He has a terrific personality and we really enjoy watching him interact with the passengers and the crew. I remember when he was a staff captain on the Navigator and we were on a San Francisco - Vancouver (via Alaska) cruise with him and the captain (forgot his name!) who wore kilts. They were a terrific team.

BTW, your Dubai - Barcelona postings were fabulous!

  7. The Miami-based luxury line's soon-to-debut Seven Seas Explorer, currently under construction in Italy, will be getting a sister in 2020, Regent parent company Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. announced Thursday.

The as-yet-unnamed vessel will have many of the same high-end features and amenities being installed on the 750-passenger Explorer, which is scheduled to debut in July, the company said.

Explorer already is proving a huge hit with luxury-minded vacationers. Cabins for its inaugural season have been selling heavily. Its inaugural sailing sold out the first day it was on sale.

“The extraordinary demand generated by Seven Seas Explorer, including record-breaking booking volumes, reinforced our decision to expand our fleet with an additional ship that mirrors the same incredibly high standards of luxury," Regent president and COO Jason Montague said in a statement accompanying Thursday's announcement.

Regent has been billing Explorer as the most luxurious ship ever. At $450 million, it's the most expensive luxury ship ever built, and it'll boast one of the highest ratios of space to passengers in the history of cruising. It'll also have some of the largest, most elaborate accommodations at sea, including a single suite measuring 3,875-square-foot -- nearly 50% larger than the average house in the USA.

Explorer also will have a wide range of upscale eateries including new-for-the-line contemporary French and Asian restaurants, and a newly designed version of the line's signature steakhouse, Prime 7. A stylish spa operated by Canyon Ranch; a two-tiered, 694-seat theater; and an opulent Observation Lounge that evokes the 1920s also are in the works.

Regent on Thursday said the newly order ship would be even pricier than Explorer at 422 million euros -- about $480 million.

  8. Thank you all, very much!

We will be cruising on Regent in June.

By what I've been reading on CC, it certainly sounds as though a person is a lot better off booking a future cruise while on-board now that Regent is touting a "price guarantee".

    Am I understanding that correctly?

If the price goes down after I make final payment, will I get the reduced price applied to my booking?

If the new schedule (beyond May '17) comes out in April of this year, I will wait to book another cruise once we are on-board in June!

  9. Thank you to everyone for your comments and terrific suggestions!

Just for info, Regent lists the pre-cruise package as "City of Design & Nation's Capital" because on our 2nd day the tour takes us to Ottawa for the morning / afternoon (see description below from Regent's website):

    "DAY 2

After breakfast at your hotel, you will set out for the 2 hour and 15 minute drive to Ottawa, Canada’s vibrant and beautiful capital city as chosen by Queen Victoria in 1858.

Over the past century, this former lumber town has gracefully blossomed into a cosmopolitan city filled with neo-gothic government buildings, gardens and parks.

During your guided drive around Ottawa you will travel along Sussex Drive and view the Prime Minister and General Governor’s residences. Downtown you will see Parliament Hill and take a drive along the Rideau Canal – the brilliant waterway that cuts through Ottawa’s downtown. This famous waterway turns into the world’s longest skating rink in the winter.

At noon you will be let off in the ByWard Market where you will have some free time to grab a bite on your own and do some further exploring before being picked up for the return journey to Montreal."
