So if we're lucky enough to get to cruise this summer and fall, for the longer cruises, do ship's laundry service only use searing hot water and then oven roast my clothes that will destroy all except jeans?  Can we request cold water wash and low dryer? Or is it a sanitation thing for them? Do they lose socks and jammies?

I just can't imagine all the people who use the service have their clothes destroyed on a regular basis.  The horrible alternative is washing in the cabin and having clothes hanging all over and the poor steward maneuvering through it.

I don’t personally send my clothes to laundry but my husband does. On Apex in November my husband sent shirts and underwear for laundry and I thought I would add some undies and socks. My husband lost a golf shirt and underwear and socks and I lost my undies and socks! ☹️

  2. I would wait and see what happens when you get on the ship. In December we were in a suite on deck 12 and were woken up early in the morning with the noise of carts wheeled over the tile floor in the Oceanview Cafe. We complained to the Retreat Host and were given the choice of three cabins on deck 11. The one we choose was an aft corner cabin on deck 11 and we loved it. At the end of the cruise they also gave us a FCC. I think they will do whatever they can to make your cruise enjoyable.

Only you can decide if you want to take the chance or cancel.

If I might ask, who is the CD currently on the Equinox? I'm trying to find what ship Eddy Jenkins is currently on or will be on in February. His last known ship according to a CC search was the Equinox back in October. He is one of our favorites and I was just wondering what ship he's currently on.

Shawna was CD when we were on Equinox in December.

  4. We were in a Sky Suite on Equinox on deck 12 in December and had the problem of the carts rattling over the tile floor. We asked to move because of being woken early in the morning with the noise. We were moved to Sky Suite aft on deck 11, 1663, which was a lovely suite and we enjoyed very much. The only complaint we would have was that there was sun most of the day on the balcony and we prefer the shade. The balcony was a good size.

Just ran into @Dakota at Cafe Baccio.  They have done Aqua Class many times; they say that things have not changed really since before pandemic for Aqua Class amenities except that there is not longer iced tea carafes in the rooms.

Mrs. Dakota told me to look at the white bag hanging up in the back of the closet. It’s a white celebrity backpack we get to keep, along with 2 lip balms and 2 sets of Celebrity clippers. I completely missed this; I thought it was a laundry bag, so many thanks to her, and just FYI when you sail in Aqua to look in the back of your closet.

When they first started Aqua Class you also received bottled water in your room every day but now you only get a bottle of water on the first day, unless they have cut that out as well. Also in your bag with the slippers there was a face spray which was very refreshing when sitting in the sun.

Me too. Such a 1st world problem,  I know,  but I rarely find things I like and end up eating nothing but salads for days on end. Wish they'd make a meatloaf (I can teach the chef...I make a great one) and grilled cheese!

BTW, I love escargot, but they only occasionally have the ones in garlic butter and they're only in the GDR. The ones in Terrace are in a creamy sauce and I don't like them done this way.

Lisa, speak to the chef if you would like something different for dinner. When I was on the ship for the first two segments of this cruise Chef Mario often made a special meal for me. You just need to ask him the night before for the following day. He was very good and helped me often.

  7. I am trying to compare the Mumbai Magic full day tour with the Celebrity 7 hour tour, which takes in the Railway Station, Laundry, Haji Ali shrine, Khotachiwadi, lunch at the Oberoi and Ghandi museum. We often use independant tour companies, but have found on recent cruises that some offered by the cruise ship are very good and not especially more expensive than some private ones. Mumbai Magic don't post prices on their website. This Celebrity tour is £97 each. Can anyone give me an idea of how that cost compares to Mumbai Magic?

We have booked a tour with Mumbai Magic for six people it is Rs 4250 per person.

  8. I'm afraid i have to agree with these posts. We always enjoyed the production shows in the past but since they have taken them "in house" we have not enjoyed them. The music isn't familiar and the story line makes no sense to us. We were on the Equinox in January and on the Solstice back to back in March and we didn't enjoy any of the production shows. In fact, on the back to back Solstice we didn't brother to go to the production show second time around which we would have done in the past if we had really enjoyed the show. We are people who like to go to the evening shows but perhaps in future we will be sitting on our balcony instead. To us part of cruising is the live entertainment but it isn't what it used to be and we really miss the party bands which were always fun, the DJ's just aren't the same. Is this Modern Chic?

  9. Well if that's not an incentive I don't know what is!! Do they do trivia on Celebrity Mark? :p ;)

Definitely lots of trivia on Celebrity which we really enjoy! Love your blog Linda, I'm checking in every day. We did this cruise on Celebrity Century in 2012 with our own three week road trip in New Zealand before the cruise. Really love New Zealand. Looking forward to meeting you on the second leg of your trip on March 3rd. We leave on Feb. 15 to start our road trip from Melbourne to Adelaide and then flying to Perth. Bags are packed and we're anxious to get going, just not looking forward to the long flight. Thanks again for taking the time to blog, enjoy your cruise. Sandra

  10. I got the same email about the birthday OBC. Unfortunately, my birthday cruise was booked in February so the offer won't work since the booking is more than 60 days ago. Too bad Celebrity can't make an exception since my birthday cruise was already booked.

Sent from my Samsung Note 2 on the T-Mobile 4G LTE Network

I received the email about a birthday credit also and called about it. I was able to get the credit despite the cruise being booked in January. Try again, you might have some luck!
