  1. I vote for DIY in Amsterdam, easy to get around. We did a Uniworld Rhine cruise 2 years ago ending in Basel then on our own took the train to Lucerne. We then did a boat ride to the cog wheel train up Mt. Pilatus and the gondola down. Very nice. Got the tickets at the tourism office. As indicated above, you will probably want to fly back via Zurich, a train ride from Lucerne.

  2. We will be in Budapest for about a day and a half before boarding the S.S. Maria Theresa for our cruise on the Danube. We are interested in tour guide recommendations who are knowledgeable about what Uniworld covers is their excursion and can make sure we see the other highlights of the city.

    Thanks

  3. I will spare my Allianz story (very negative), just to say that, READ THE FINE PRINT on your Allianz policy and if you need pre-existing coverage, DOUBLE-READ the fine print.

Please don't spare us! We have purchased Allianz insurance for an upcoming cruise and would like to know what went wrong.

  4. Thanks. Very disappointed that Uniworld took the SS Theresa off this route, European Jewels. The cabins on the boats doing this cruise are about33% smaller.

  5. Does anyone know if the SS Theresa will be sailing the Budapest to Amsterdam route in 2017? Can not find it on Uniworld's website. Disappointing if not and may have to rethink 2017 plans.

  6. Great thread. Considering an eZair Flex fare Atl to London, cheaper than booking directly with Delta but want to fly economy comfort. Has anyone been able to book the eZair flex economy on Princess then going on Delta and doing the economy comfort upgrade? If so has anyone had Princess change their flights. What happened to the Delta comfort seats/money paid to Delta. Finally, the eZair T&C says we can cancel up to 45 days prior to flight. Has there been any problem Princess canceling just the flights without affecting any of the original cruise booking plans or charges.

Sorry, so long but appreciate actual experience. Difficult to trust verbal responses from customer service reps.

    Thanks,

    Doug

  7. I also want to purchase tickets for May. Starting looking months ago, and am hoping you are right that the tickets will become available online by the beginning of March.

I did try to email the address on the website, but the email was rejected as an invalid email address. If someone is successful emailing, I'm sure you will update us with the response.

We emailed the Anne Frank house and received a reply. Tickets for future months will be available in February. Keep monitoring their website.

  8. I want to buy tickets ahead of time for our pre-cruise time in Amsterdam in April. I've been using this link http://www.annefrank.org/ to purchase on line tickets but when I go to April 2015 it says "no performances or packages are currently scheduled in or after this month".

Does that mean that they are sold out of on line in advance tickets and that the only tickets we can get are those we buy the day we want to go to the museum? I'd like to buy tickets ahead of time since it seems that most of our day in Amsterdam would be spent waiting in line for tickets which is not how I want to spend our only full day in Amsterdam.

We have been monitoring the Anne Frank tickets for several months now, as we want to pre-buy them for a June visit. They seem to be available about 2 months ahead of time. Tickets for March just became available the beginning of January. Keep monitoring the website. If they follow this same schedule, you should be able to buy your tickets for April beginning in February.

  9. Thank you, Karen, for your wonderful postings about your cruise. My husband and I are booked on the Amsterdam to Basel "Castles along the Rhine" leaving June 7, 2015. Your information was great and answered a lot of my questions. We will be spending two days in Amsterdam before the cruise and then two days in Lucerne at the end, so I really enjoyed your information on those two cities too. We can't wait for this trip!
