We are on a Uniworld cruise with this exact itinerary. Amsterdam all the way to Giurgiu. We booked a few months ago, and there were only three cabins left, so maybe that's why you have trouble? It's called Ultimate European Journey. Good luck.

Thank you for all this great information. Did you notice if any men tourists wear shorts at all in the cities? DH is considering what to pack for August - hot and humid so jeans might be uncomfortable. Any impressions would be most helpful.

Thank you for posting this. We are thinking of doing this in September 2016. Were you able to organize independent tours in the ports? Did most people organize independent tours or take the ship tours? Or just wander?

By the way, how far away are the docks? Did you need shuttle or other service to get anywhere?
