Has anyone had success recently upgrading upon checkin? Was the upgrade reasonable/ better price than if you purchased the better cabin initially? Thanks!

We managed to get an upgrade from V1 to CC for $100 a night in January this year on our New Zealand Cruise.

I understand 20% FCC to mean 20% of the price you paid for the cruise you are on,given as an amount in £s,in the form of a credit note to use on a future cruise. The 20% would only be calculated on the cruise element and not the port taxes, etc.

Someone has wires crossed on this one Azamara Quest has not gone to NZ since the pandemic .  It came round from Singapore to Perth to Sydney where it spent New Year and is now en route (as planned) to Melbourne where it disembarks on 4th. It is due to head to NZ arriving in the sounds on 11th. Unlike many ships laid up over the pandemic, Azamara vessels had full dry docks before returning to service in 2021

Azamara Quest sailing 4th January from Melbourne has had 2 stops cancelled. She is currently heading to Sydney next stop should have been Eden then over to Milford Sound, both cancelled. She will be having the hull cleaned on 10-11th January then hopefully arrived in Dunedin on 12th but later than scheduled.

Seems since a 50% refund and 50% FCC is being offered, passengers AREN'T "sharing" the expense.

Likely you are correct, but we don't really know, do we?  Princess and Viking also got caught by this. I read an article that this has only happened 6% of the time since around 2014 or so.  That means that cruise ships have successfully sailed Australia and New Zealand 94% of the time.   How do you "prepare" for an event that has only a 6% chance of happening?  Lots of speculation here and on other sites.   Before we nail Regent management to the cross, maybe we should wait until the real details are issued.  Bet this doesn't happen again.

Azamara Quest has also joined this debacle as her sailing from Melbourne on 4th has had first two ports axed due hull cleaning, one was Milford Sound.

Does anyone know who the senior officers are on Quest at the moment?

    Ship   Quest

    Captain. Johannes Tysse

    Hotel Director  Marcelo Afonso

    Cruise Director David Bradshawe

    Executive Chef

I think David is leaving on 21st January being replaced by Amanda Poulson

Aus and NZ have always been fierce about protecting its borders, but I do wonder if CL May actually reconsider their options going forward.

unconfirmed reports that an Azamara ship has also been refused dntry.

    Certainly worrying.

Yes the Azamara Quest sailing 4th January has had Eden and Milford Sound cancelled for hull cleaning. It will also arrive later than scheduled into Dunedin to accommodate this. Hope they get the job done quickly as the rest of it’s ports of call are in NZ.

Same w Jan 4 Azamara Quest... Scenic Cruising in Milford Sound cancelled & replaced with a regular sea day for hull cleaning prior to entering NZ waters.  Remaining NZ calls remain though.

As Milford Sound is your first port in New Zealand on your cruise I can see that it has to be done or all other ports would be closed to you 😬 Hopefully by the time we board on 21st all will plain sailing

They are currently scheduled to still go into Melbourne for 8pm till 11pm. I would only presume they have pre-booked provisions, some passengers embarking/disembarking, or immigration has been pre-arranged for Melbourne.

  8. We definitely test more than European countries thats why our rates are always higher. I know in Spain you have only recently been able to buy Antigen Tests at their pharmacys, they don’t get them free like we do, therefore they test less. Thats why they were amber for so long.

  9. We have just received an email to say that our upgrade bid has been excepted. We are sailing on Pursuit, February 19th, 12 days Rio Carnival from Buenos Aires. We did not receive an email offering us an upgrade but we went online and checked we were eligible and filled in the form on the 19th Jan 2020. We offered £700 for the cabin, this was a weak bid. Because we had not heard and knew that some cabins were still available we upped our offer by £100 to £800 for the cabin, still a weak bid. We were in balcony cabin 7085 which we got on a guarantee basis. Once we paid in full our cabin number was issued and we thought we had done well! Now we have done even better!! We are Discovery level members and have tried several times under the old system to upgrade and never been excepted.

  10. We have sailed on all three brands, Princess Pacific comes nowhere close to Oceania and Azamara, although I understand it has had an upgrade recently, it sure needed it 4 years ago. The other two do have there differences but they are our only go to lines now. We love Azamara for the friendliest crew and made to feel welcome. Nothing is too much trouble. Oceania has the edge with their food, which is fabulous. We tend to decide by itinerary, and Azamara does have the edge with thier port intensive cruises and Azamazing Evenings.

Having said all that my 1st choice would be Oceania larger two ships, now your talking. Based on the R class ship but bigger and better, not too big, just more space! Cabins are bigger, suites are wonderful, 4 specialty restaurants which are included and if your cruise includes a drinks package then your laughing 😆.  So extremely happy to see two more being built.

  11. Capt Carl is in Belfast with the Pursuit and will stay with her up to and including her maiden voyage in August. The cruise booking pages are wrong.

Thanks for the reply, surely it would be better to give no information than to give the wrong information [emoji51]

  12. No it's still not correct. Not unless Tony and Ryszard can be on two ships at the same time! Both are booked for Pursuit and Journey in July/August 2018 whereas of course, we know they will be on Pursuit. That leaves a gap in the correct info for Journey.

Also noted a new name for CD on Pursuit...Amanda? Could that be Amanda Poulson the singer? Few new names for Executive Chefs too.

Does this mean that the details on the cruise booking pages are correct or incorrect as my BTB in May both legs are showing Captain Carl and Ryszard ?
