When Crystal NEVER got back to my TA about single fare promotion going on now (nobody in reservations knew anything about it, told they would call back, never did, no return call from her sales manager) my 2 GFs and I have booked 3 suites on EJ.  My TA forwarded this to me today and it is a positive sign,  BTW, only a 15% single supplement.

Which cruise?  I’ve just started searching for a solo cruise and I’m wondering which cruises have the lowest solo charge and more importantly is Explora a good experience for solos. I love Oceania for the amount of solos on board and the activities for meeting others but always paying double gets old.

  2. I enjoy Oceania on the “O” class ships more than Viking. I find the food especially in the specialty restaurants much better than Viking. As I do mostly TAs I love the Culinary Center and Artist Loft on Oceania. I haven’t done solo on Viking yet but on my Oceania cruises there have been many opportunities for solos to meet.  The Butlers on Oceania are fantastic and the ability to order from the specialty restaurants, penthouse suites and above, made dining in my suite very enjoyable. That said I enjoyed my cruises on Viking very much and have another Viking cruise booked. In many other areas I find them comparable so my choice comes down to itinerary and if that’s equal I go with Oceania.

  3. Not on my Platinum AmEx. I have NCL, Royal Caribbean, and American none of which I cruise on.  I’m getting ready to book a cruise next year. Which leads to another question.  I’ve been looking at April/May 2023 on Marina to Greece and I’m surprised that only the top 2 suite categories and the inside cabins are waitlisted. Everything else seems to be open I’m used to seeing everything waitlisted. Is something going on I’m not aware of?  I know Marina is going to be refurbished but that’s not until November 2023. Could it be because everybody is booking Vista or just because I usually book TransAtlantics.

  4. I booked the TA Barcelona to Miami for November, 2023.  My Travel Agent is out of the country but I called RSS and I was told they have me booked.  They just need to have my deposit in by Friday. It will be my first time on RSS and I’m looking forward to the cruise.

Guess what, it is raining as predicted. The Danube levels are rising, we will have to wait and see what tomorrow brings, but it is looking good.

Rain, on and off forecatsed until next weekend.

First glühwein (white) is probably well on it's way to the Black Sea, hopefully helping the situation around Budapest.

Thank you for making my day. Leaving Tuesday for Frankfurt then on Saturday board MS Savor in Nuremburg.

Suzy, Yesterday I received an email from my TA with a letter from Tauck attached. They wrote about the same as is on the Travel Alert on their website. Apologized for not able to give more information but looked forward to welcoming us on the cruise.

I have been tracking the two riverboats. The MS Joy is in Nuremberg now and the MS Savor, my boat, is past Linz and heading to Vienna last time I checked earlier this morning. Sunday December 2nd starts the Christmas cruises from both cities. I will be watching how they progress. I am sure Tauck will notify my TA with any major changes to my trip. I am staying positive that we will enjoy a wonderful time.

Looking forward to meeting you. We are staying at the Sheraton by the rail station for 2 days prior to boarding the Savor or Joy depending on whichever one in in Nuremburg. I’m hoping it rains until the the 7th then stops. I’m having enough problems trying to figure out what to pack without having to throw a raincoat into the mix.  Safe travels.

Thank you for your reports. It has given me hope that we may actually have a cruise. We leave for Nuremberg on December 7th to board the Tauck MS Savor on the  9th for a 7 day cruise to Vienna. I have been following this forum for several weeks wondering if one of my dream river cruises would occur. Looks good right now.  I am staying positive!

Luvwillow we seem to be the only ones on CC sailing with Tauck. Have you heard anything from Tauck?  I’m leaving on the 4th for Frankfurt then on to Rothenburg arriving in Nuremburg on the 7th. Hopefully by then we will know what is happening. I've been praying for raining for the past two months. Maybe my prayers will be answered. Thanks GMT for your reports it’s been great having a front seat perspective to the river level.
