  1. I have to bump this thread up again, 'cause y'all have missed one of the most important features of the lanyard: if you buy the right kind, you can just undo a clip one-handed and give your card to the waiter who brings you drinks in the hot tub, then snap it right back in once he brings it back.

  2. I take the itty bitty bottle of something like Thieves' blend in my zippie bag, and either pack or pick up one of the small squirter bottles (along with another to spray water on my hair - mix with a drop of conditioner, you have detangler) to dump some in & add water so I can spray it, then trash the squirter bottles once I'm done (since the mechanism on the cheap ones dies quickly when using it with oils anyway) so I don't have to pack it on the way home.

  3. Hmmm..I've never encountered that, and I always bring 12 oz bottles of contact lens solutions. OTC, too.

My DH used to be a TSO. He said that whether or it I could take half the things I asked him about depended on which supervisor was on duty. I figure the less worries getting on a cruise, the better.

  4. This cruise I am packing a flashlight after reading the Costa reports...not sounding scared because we have sailed quite a bit but just being safer.

Even if there isn't an emergency, it's still a good thing to have a little flashlight with you. How often do you look behind the bed because you dropped something, have to look in someone's throat to see if they have strep or just sinus drainage, read somewhere dark, or need something that doesn't provide enough light to wake your spouse when you need to find the ibuprofen in the middle of the night?

I have a little one that lives on my purse, plus one that flashes and changes colors that I can clip to me when I'm riding my scooter so people can see me better.

  5. Warm Chocolate Melting Cake

    Yield: 4 Servings

    Ingredients:

    6 oz Dark Chocolate

    6 oz Butter

    4 ea Eggs

    6 oz Sugar

    2 oz Flour

    Method:

    - Melt the chocolate & butter

    - Mix the eggs & sugar and whisk for a few minutes, add the flour

    - Add the egg mix to the melted chocolate & mix

    - Pour the mix into a greased mold bake directly in the oven at 390 for 14 minutes

Note: Make sure that the eggs are at room temperature and chocolate is warm enough while making the mixture

Serve with ice cream and fruit garnish

Note: They told me just leave out the flour if you're gluten-free.

ETA: This is the recipe they gave us on the Behind the Fun tour.

  6. I know you asked some time ago but just in case you never found an answer.....John Heald has it posted as a photo on his blog awhile back. But for the life of me it is so tiny that I can't read all the ingredients and measurements and I can't figure out how to enlarge it without it getting so blurry it is unreadable. Grrrrrr. Maybe you will have better luck. :)

  7. I've read almost all of the 4 pages in this thread but I haven't seen any mention of experiences on Disney. I'm traveling in November on the Dream with my son who needs to avoid dairy, glutens and nuts. Thus far, I'm a bit concerned about his options on Disney. We don't pay all this money for him not to be able to eat - that's half the fun of cruising (LOL).;)

Any feedback anyone has had on any of the Disney ships would be appreciated. I plan to tip well to ensure my son is treat well. Luckily even at 6 he is very vocal about not having things that will make him sick.

No personal experience, but lots of reviews online: http://www.google.com/search?q=disney+cruise+gluten-free&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

Gluten free food takes so good now that is it often hard to tell if it is gluten free or not. Pastry is the only thing which is hard to do gluten free, it tends to be hard in texture. What is a snickerdoodle??

A snickerdoodle is a lovely cinnamon-y sugar cookie. They can be hard or soft, depending on who made them.
