Thanks - i will take a look at some of those...looks like 8 ships will be in port that day - so guess everything will be busy!

We will be coming there in about two weeks on Royal Caribbean... Can anyone recommend an excursion possibly thru Royal for a family... we plan on doing a ruins tour at another port...our kids are 14 and 11. Looking for something fun, but not one where we have to spend an hour or more getting there and coming back to port...possibly even something for just a half day excursion...

We are flying into Ft Lauderdale and our cruise leave out of the Port of Miami - we are planning on staying one night in Ft Lauderdale before the cruise. We will arrive around 3 PM - so do not have time for touring...basically need a comfortable and clean room with some place to eat dinner within walking distance in a safe area. It is me, dh, ds (14) and dd (11)...we currently have two options booked, so looking for which one you would recommend:
La Quinta Inn and Suites Ft Lauderdale Airport - free airport shuttle, around $140 a night, and scheduled shuttle to Miami
Embassy Suites Ft Lauderdale - pay for taxi, around $180 a night, and scheduled shuttle to Miami
So LaQuinta would save about $50 and it looks like we could walk to restaurants - but unsure of the area...and I know Embassy Suites gets recommended here alot... what would you suggest I keep?
thanks!

So might change hotels as I can get a decent price at Embassy Suites in Ft Lauderdale... but curious how much a taxi is to get there from the Ft Lauderdale airport... deciding if I should switch hotels or keep the LaQuinta I have booked...

I have stayed there pre-cruise three times (spring 2016, 2017, and 2018) and have reservations for pre-cruise March 2020. Drove the first two times so had a car to drive to restaurant; third time flew in late in evening, so I don't have personal experience walking to any of the nearby restaurants - none are like right next door though.
If you put the address in google maps, you can search for nearby restaurants and it will give you routes and walking times.
Thanks, I did google map search before and looks like we can walk to places...just wasnt sure if it was easy to walk to or not so was looking for people's experience. We are flying in late afternoon, so just really need a decent place to sleep and somewhere to eat dinner:) Thanks for the feedback!

Has anyone stayed here? Thoughts? Is it close to some place we can walk to for dinner? It seems to have good reviews and it has an airport shuttle, we will then get transportation to our cruise in Miami...Thanks!

We will be there the same time for a Carnival cruise. We will be flying into FLL, then taking an Uber to Hollywood, FL. Found a hotel right on the beach for $179. It's also right on the Boardwalk so I am hoping there will be a lot to do with 3 teenagers. The next day we will Uber to MIA.
What hotel?

Just looking for feedback on this hotel? Is it near restaurants and somewhere we can get a case of water within walking distance?
We fly into Ft. Lauderdale and deciding where to stay for one night before we leave out of the Port of Miami...
Thanks!

Hello - we are cruising on the SYmphony out of Miami on November 23rd... due to flight prices we are flying into Ft. Lauderdale. (4 of us)
My plan is to get a hotel in Ft Lauderdale and then go to the port in the morning. I am looking for a hotel close to a grocery store and restaurants so we can walk to in a safe area. Looking to keep the hotel around $150 - $175...
Can anyone recommend a hotel in Ft Lauderdale?
We would possibly be up to staying in Miami, but figured FT Lauderdale would be cheaper.
Thanks!

Looking to do maybe a half day ruins tour (me, dh, dd(11), and ds(14)) - Thinking Chacchoben may be our best choice. Any recommendations besides booking through the cruise line?

Does anyone have any recommendations for any of the tours royal offers in Roatan, Cozumel or Costa Maya? (Or ones we should avoid) Thanks!

There are 4 of us - me, dh, and two teenage kids...We are going out of the Port of Miami for our cruise. We are flying into FLL and home out of MIA - I have some questions that maybe people can help with:
We fly in the night before, is it better to stay in Ft Lauderdale or Miami the night before? What is the best option to get to the port the morning of the cruise? (I have seen talk about SAS, uber and some hotels that offer transportation) We are looking for a hotel around $150 and cheapest option for transportation if possible.
Next is when we get back and need to go to Miami airport - what is the best transportation to use to get there.
Thanks!

I have 2 kids and at the time of sailing they will be 11 and 14... will the allow my 11 year old (who will be 12 in 2 months after) do the Navigators Kids program with my 14 year old?

We have decided that in 2 years we will be doing an Alaska Trip - we want to do a cruise and land tour combined and looking for going for a total of 2 weeks. We are a family of 4 - me and dh (mid 40s), ds (will be 15 when we go) and dd (will be 13 when we go) - we may also have some parents and other family members going - but that is still to be determined...
I know we can't really get prices yet - so at this point I am just looking for any recommendations for a tour you did and loved - we usually cruise with Royal Carribbean - but are open to any cruise lines that are family friendly (not Disney though)...
Thanks!

Can anyone recommend some decent but reasonable priced snorkel sets - its me, my husband and our 11 & 14 year old kids... we have a cruise in November and thinking of just buying our own equipment...

Subscribing here since we're trying to plan the exact same trip. When are you going to be in port? We will be there Feb 20 on HOS.
We will be there in November 2019...

This will be our first time here - it will be myself, husband and 2 kids - 14 & 11. I would like to go see the sloths and monkeys and take the kids snorkeling - they have never been before. Can anyone recommend a tour that covers both/ I have heard snorkeling here is the best between here, costa maya and cozumel... Thanks!

We are going on this ship in at the end of March for a 5 night cruise to Belize and Cozumel...It will be me, my dd (7) and ds (9) and my mom. This will only be my kids 2nd time cruising - but both my mom and I have done several...And this will be my second time on the Liberty (my dh and I have been )
So here are a few questions:
1 - Will my kids be able to be in the same kids program? It looks like they are 6-8 and 9-11?
2 - Does anyone have a kids menu for the MDR?
3 - Anyone recommend excursions that are kid friendly in either Cozumel or Belize? Is it even worth getting off in Belize?
4 - Is their an age requirement for the rock wall or ice skating?
Thanks for any help!

Be sure to do express walk-off. You will have to get a ticket the day before you dock. The ticket gives you the letter for the group you will be in. Get the ticket as soon as they start giving them out. I don't know how far the airport is, but 10:30 seems to be cutting it a little close.
I agree 10:30 is definately cutting it close...remember even after you get off the ship you still need to get to the airport and checked in over there...
Tulum Mayan Ruins or Chichen Itza Ruins - trying to decide
in Cozumel
Posted
Have been to both Chichen Itza and Tulum - both are nice and interesting... Tulum being smaller. With the tours from the cruise terminals both are a long drive. We are doing the Native Choice Chochoban next week in Costa Maya with the kids - they haven't seen any ruins and I liked that the ride is only about 45 minutes and its a half day tour.
