  1. Thanks to Sloop-John B I was able to find out the prices of the different wines in the "taste of the vineyards - classic package" and was not happy with what Celebrity is offering:

    The best price is for 7 bottles: $ 251.86 which means an average of $ 35.98 each bottle

    here are the prices for the wines in this package:

    TASTE OF THE VINEYARDS

    ********************

    CLASSIC PACKAGE

    Sparkling Wine

    $ ?? Bouvet Signature, France (price not found, but should be less than $ 30.-)

    White Wines

    $ 35.- Chardonnay, Penfolds, Koonunga Hill, Australia

    $ 35.- Vouvray, Michel Picard,Loire, France

    $ 24.- White Zinfandel, Beringer, California

    $ 45.- Sauvignon Blanc, Villa Maria, Private Bin, New Zealand

    $ 26.- Sauvignon Blanc, Murphy Goode, California

    $ 35.- Chardonnay, Santa Ema, "Select Terroir", Chile

    $ 29.- Riesling, S.A. Prum, "Essence", Germany

    $ 30.- Pinot Grigio, Fantinel, Borgo Tesis, Italy

    Rose Wines

    $ 31.- Gaga Rose, by Kendall-Jackson, California

    Red Wines

    $ 35.- Malbec, Luigi Bosca, "La Linda", Argentina

    $ 35.- Cabernet Sauvignon, Beringer, Founder's Estates, California

    $ 35.- Pinot Noir, Matua, New Zealand

    $ 35.- Garnacha, Altovinum, "Evodia", Spain

    $ 35.- Zinfandel, Renwood, Sierra Foothills, California

    $ 35.- Tempranillo, Condesa de Laganza, Spain

    $ 35.- Syrah , Chateau Ste. Michelle, Washington

    $ 35.- Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Crest "H3" Horse Heaven, Washington

    $ 35.- Merlot, Sebastiani, California

    so appart from the Sauvignon blanc Villa Maria all wines are 35.- or lesser

    Can someone tell me what the profit is on this package where the price per bottle is $ 35.98 ?

    Is Celebrity aware of this ?

    That amount you posted... 7 bottles: $ 251.86 ... are you sure the tip is not included? That's an odd amount for a before tip total since the prices quoted have no "cents".

  2. Char - Here is a response I received from SeaGams who was on the February 3, 2012 Equinox sailing:

    And most importantly - is Hector still bartending the Martini Bar?

    Thank you!

    (Looking forward to our 2nd Equinox cruise on April 6)

    Chief Engineer: Stavros Zanikos

    Staff Captain: Leonardos Palaiokrassas

    Guest Relations Manager: Cameron Robertson

    Cruise Director: John Grantham

    Food & Beverage Manager: Duarte da Silva

    Executive Chef: Eddie Thomas

    Concierge: Rui Rocha

    Captain's Club Hostess: Donna Trembath

    I don't know if all of these people will still be on board for your April sailing.

    Toni

    Thanks! We have sailed with a few of these folks. Don't think we know Donna, though.

  3. In our case we purchased two Passages for our upcoming B2B, using one for the first leg and the other for the second leg. They were $100 each with a booking number. When we did the actual booking we had to pay the full deposit amount of $900($450x2) for each cruise segment. The first one is 16 nights getting us a $300 OBC and the second is a 10 night getting us a $200 OBC. So, our total was $2000 down/deposited for which we received $500 OBCs for the trip.

    This is not a "Passage". It is a "Future" cruise booking while onboard. They are different. The $200 rate for deposit is all that is required in the case of your booking, I'm guessing. It is really a good deal, if you know for sure that you are going to book. Do it while onboard. Very low deposit and great OBCs......

    I was looking at the post above. Sometimes the terminology gets confused. LOL! :D

    Ours was a Passage that we purchased onboard but booked the cruise at a later date. We only deposited a total of $200 for the 13 day cruise. ($100 each)

  4. Does anyone know if the Capt of the Solstice attends his Captain's dinners? We are in the PH on Solstice next week and crossing our fingers for an invite....

    When we were onbaord our B2B the end of September we dined with the Hotel Director and the Food & Beverage Manager. The captain had his wife and little girl on board ...don't know how long they were going to be traveling with him.

    I was on the Infinity a few years ago with this Captain (Demetrios Kafetzis) and did dine with him on one of the formal nights.

    I hope you can snag an invite! He is a most charming and humorous man!

  5. We, also, have dined at the Captain's table many times on Celebrity. We haven't missed one in 7 or 8 years. (we cruise 3 or 4 times a year, mostly on Celebrity) I have never asked to be seated at the table or asked how they determine who is invited, so I don't have a clue.

    However, there are two things that we always do....

    ...when first boarding the ship we go and introduce ourselves to the Captain's Club hostess

    ...and I always send a hand written thank you note to whomever hosted the table.

    Other than that, we just enjoy ourselves.:D

    I believe this is a typo..it probably should be 1601...not 6101. :D

  7. Older, smolder!!! I wish I could keep up with you!!! I've cruised with them, they make a beautiful pic because they are beautiful!:D And because she whispers "stuff" in his ear right before the camera snaps!!!

    Sorry Char, I gave away your secret. So now all the girls know how to get their man to smile!:eek:

    My family and some friends are hopping on Liberty of the Seas in Sept. Taking Miss Kaylee with us so I will have to post pics of her in her "formal" dresses. Great to see you!

    Hey Lynn! :D

    So good to see you! I'm looking forward to seeing little Kaylee in her finest formal dress! :) What itinerary is Liberty OTS doing in September?

    You really didn't give away my secret...you didn't say what I whisper. :p

  8. 8 oz. dark chocolate (i used 1 1/3 C. semi-sweet choc. chips)

    8 oz. butter (i used one stick salted, one unsalted)

    5 eggs (room temperature)

    5/8 C. sugar

    2/3 C. flour

    I used this recipe on Friday with 7oz. ramekins and mine were to "cake like". I'd prefer a more "gooey" center. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Less cooking time. Try 14 minutes instead of 16. That should keep the middle softer.

  9. We are booked in 9164 on the Summit for the 9/9/06 Alaska cruise. It is a handicap cabin. Most of the handicap cabins are about 250 sq ft which is bigger than a normal 194 sq ft CC cabin. For you folks that are soooooo familiar with those aft cabins (can't believe so many knows each aft cabin by room number) is that cabin actually bigger? I have not been able to get a definate answer from Celebrity... just a general answer. This is important because my partner is parapledgic and is in his chair at all times. A small cabin is claustriphobic to him because there is no room to turn (can you say Carnival?). I am sure it is a larger cabin as all of the other accessible ones, but just wanted someone who has laid eyes on it to confirm.

    Hey Barry :D

    Yes, the cabin is larger. A wheelchair will be able to do complete turns without any problem. The bathroom is huge with a roll in shower with folding shower seat. The toilet is raised and there are grab bars all over the place as well as an emergency call pull cord. There is a removable ramp for wheelchair access to the balcony. There are emergency pull cords located in several different places around the cabin. There is no large sofa, but a smaller love seat/double chair. Any other questions? :)

  10. Greetings all :D

    Another couple of senior (68 & 75) cruisers here :p Cruising is THE best vacation for us--for all the usual reasons--unpack once, meet new friends, your "hotel" takes you to your next destination, all your meals "catered", pampered the whole time, the ship is a no stress zone, the ocean is so calming and the night sky is glorious on a moonless night! AND a lot more!! :) Our kids don't mind if we spend their inheritance and we are trying to get rid of it as fast as we can ;)
