On deck 7 is the promenade to walk around the entire ship.

it is very windy at the front of the ship. It was like walking through a wind tunnel. Some parts are bit narrow and I stepped aside to let people pass. There were a few walkers who were on a mission and it looked best to just step aside

Are there any loungers on the Promenade deck?

We're non-smokers and wondering if smoking allowed on Jade and if so...where?

Usually one "side" of the ship is reserved for smokers. As someone previously posted, there is a cigar bar that you might get some residual smoke when someone enters/leaves; but usually smoking areas are reserved for the outdoor areas on one specific side of the ship by the pool and the Promenade or lifeboat deck. So if smoking is allowed on the port side for example, it will be on the port side by the pool and Promenade deck. Believe me, you'll know it when you walk by and know to avoid it throughout the cruise. 🙂 Hope this helps.

  3. Good day everyone.

Can anyone share with me if there are lounge chairs on the Promenade (lifeboat) deck on the Jade? If so, about how many?

This is my favorite spot on any ship and I have seen some ships with barely any loungers, and just recently got off a ship that had plenty.

I had heard the Coast Guard was limiting the chairs for safety reasons which makes perfect sense.

    Thanks All!

  4. Good day, going in late January 2024, for the on/off trolley excursions, how does the ship excursion manage this? Just give you your tickets and off you go, or is there a designated trolley at the ship and it starts from there? Purchasing directly from the trolley company is significantly cheaper. I have taken this is popular cities and sometimes the trolley's are so full 3 trolleys will go be before you can get on one, I imagine with a ship in town, this could potentially happen.

    Any advice will be appreciated!

    Thanks!

Capt BJ states there is parking across from Terminal 10 and that they are building a parking garage. Lots of general information but nothing specific to a passenger parking garage that is now open.

Terminal 10 has both a parking garage and surface parking. Most folks prefer the garage as it is covered and protects your vehicle from the sun, if the garage is full, there is plenty of surface parking available. All are within walking distance to the terminal, either across the street from the terminal, or just beside it. On other posts I have read, people mention if you get there by 10 or 11 it is never a problem finding a spot in the garage. Capt_BJ mentioned they are building "another parking garage" so one currently exists, and a 2nd one is in the plans which would most likely go where one of the surface lots currently exist. Hope this helps.

We just sailed on Mariner of the Seas on Oct 21 out of Terminal 5. They had staff standing at the bottom of the ramp with handheld devices taking payment as you entered the garage.

Terrific information; thank you very much. Hope you had a wonderful cruise! ❤️

Once you check in and get your SetSail pass it contains a barcode which if you decode it may contain your unofficial GTY cabin assignment.

Unofficial it was... When I scanned the barcode, it looked like we were assigned a nice balcony, alas, not to be so... interior room it is... but on the other hand, I sleep like a baby in interior rooms! Lol.

Thank you, yes, I did see we were above the lounge and was concerned about the noise.

Thank you for this information - I have upgrade requests pending.

We wound up staying in the same room, while there was some noise from the Bliss lounge it sounded  distant and muffled. It did not keep us awake at night, I am generally a light sleeper, and was able to fall asleep within a reasonable time. Yes you could hear it, no, it didn't bother us, we realized there was a chance we were going to hear noise, and this is the chance you take with a Gty room. It was ok. I wouldn't go out of my way to select this room, but my gf and I are of the mindset, if the room is on a ship, then we'll be fine. 🙂

Are you going to be doing this tour in the near future? I have it booked for February and would love to know what you think of it if you're going before then and wouldn't mind reporting back.

Yes, my gf and I have decided to do this tour. We will be going the end of Nov. I will try to remember to let you know what we thought. Do you have any questions or concerns for yourself?

    Hi Everyone

I just did the barcode trick with my set sail pass and we’re on the same floor as the adventure ocean. Adventure ocean is at the very forward and our room is very aft. We like the placement of this room and it’s location however my only question/ concern is noise from AO. Has anyone stayed on the same floor as the adventure ocean before and did you find it any extra busier or louder than other decks? As mentioned it’s at the complete other end than where our room is- just inquiring as we’ve never stayed on the same deck as it before and we don’t have children ourselves.

    Thank you 😊

    What's the barcode trick?🤔

  11. I found out myself through another resource, that the individual who responded felt the Cave portion of the tour, because of the uneven footing and the approximate 3/4 mile walk to the caves are what might deem this as "strenuous". They felt if you are in decent to average shape, you should be ok. We'll see...

Related to this question: can you use the RCI app without Internet aboard ship?  And on that note, can you use the messaging feature of the app to communicated with other people in your party?

Yes you can use the RCCL app onboard the ship for free to make reservations, check out the Cruise Compass newsletter, show times and such. I believe messaging comes at an extra cost.

  14. Good day! I am looking at the Royal Caribbean Hidden Gems tour in Aruba, the Activity Level lists it as "strenuous". I know all things are interpretive, but how "strenuous" do you all think this is? By the description it doesn't seem all too bad, but I have my partner who will be 2 months removed from knee surgery, she's getting around fine now, and was an avid hiker prior to the surgery, just getting everyone's thoughts.

    Thanks in advance!

  15. Good day all. When planning an upcoming cruise on Adventure of the Seas, it is only showing a "surf and stream" internet package online. Once onboard are there other packages to choose from?  All I need is to check emails twice a day, so surf and stream is an expensive overkill. Thanks in advance!

HI.. if you redeem today.. it should show up on your account in a few days.. then you could use the OBC to book the shore excursions.

This is exactly how it worked out. Thank you so much!

  17. Good day everyone. I am currently booked for a cruise in October and was going to redeem credit card rewards points for on board credit (OBC). If I do this today, would the OBC be posted to my account, and if I booked shore excursions could I use my OBC?

I seem to recall I was able to do this a while back, but am unsure if it was with Royal or another cruise line.

    TIA

    Chrissy.

We were on the Nov 27th sailing of the Dawn. There were only a handful of chairs on the promenade deck. This was brought up at the Captain's Q&A and he stated it was a Coast Guard safety regulation. This is the muster area with the lifeboats, and in case of emergency the crew would have to clear all the deck chairs. On the newer ships, the Waterfront area (with all the comfy chairs) is a deck above the lifeboats, so it's not an issue there.

That is what I thought. Thank you so much for the response. Hope your trip was magical! Happiness and health to you in 2023.

  19. Good day all, cruising in a few weeks on the Norwegian Dawn and was wondering if anyone who has recently sailed on board, do they provide deck chairs on the promenade deck? It's my favorite spot on the ship, but I believe for safety reasons they limit or completely remove the loungers all together. Thanks in advance!
